Area 51
I. The F-117 Nighthawk is one of the most well-known stealth aircraft said to be tested in Area 51. Located in a small town about eighty miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada, Area 51 is a military base and airfield in the United States. The base was originally used as a bombing range and later used to test government aircraft such as the U-2 spy plane and the SR-71 Blackbird. Although it has been disclosed as being a military base, many have suspicions that it is correlated with extraterrestrial beings. Rumored to be associated with aliens, Area 51 has a unique history of public speculation and government use.
II. Clarence “Kelly” Johnson founded the Area 51 military base on April 12, 1955.
A. On April 12, 1955, Lockheed designer Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, Richard Bissell and Colonial Osmund Ritland flew over Nevada in a small Beechcraft plane, piloted by Lockheed’s chief test pilot, Tony LeVier.

secluded enough as to where he would be able to test a classified plane: The U-2 high altitude reconnaissance plane. a. Kelly Johnson was the director of the Lockheed Corporation’s Skunk Works, codenamed AQUATONE by the CIA, and OILSTONE by the Air Force. B. Declassified in 2013, a secret CIA history document revealed that they spotted a former Army Air Corps airstrip next to a salt flat known as Groom Lake. 1. Although the area seemed to be paved, LeVier instead decided to land on a dry lakebed next to the area. 2. The four men examined the strip, while doing so, they discovered it was unpaved and ankle-deep in dirt. C. If the four had attempted to land on it, the CIA historians say “the plane would probably have nose over when the wheels sank into the loose soil, killing or injuring all the key figures in the U-2 project.” D. Johnson and the other men agreed it was the ideal test site for their plane and its pilots. 1. Thereupon Lockheed built up the facility, which Johnson entitled Paradise Ranch. a. Paradise Ranch was later shortened to The Ranch in an attempt to make it sound more amiable to future employees. E. Area 51 is officially known by its map destination. 1. President Dwight E. Eisenhower ordered a no-fly zone over Area 51 in 1955 to ensure secrecy and privacy. a. In 1958, he officially declared 60 miles of the area non-existent. III. Area 51 was used as a government testing sight, mainly for the U-2. A. Area 51 has long been used for research and development of secret experimental aircraft and weapons system. 1. The base is located within the U.S. Air Force’s Nevada Test and Training range. 2. A portion of Area 51 has been used for testing nuclear weaponry since the Manhattan Project. 3. During the cold war, the base was a strategic importance. B. A government document revealed that Rachel, Nevada was used as a top-secret testing ground for the U-2. 1. The information was declassified at the request of a George Washington University researcher exploring the history of the U-2. 2. Developed during the 1950’s, the U-2 was used for surveillance all around the world, including the Soviet Union during the cold war. C. The U-2 spy plane was the first top secret project to be proven at Area 51. D. Capable of reaching up to 70,000 feet in the air, the U-2 spy plane was declared the highest-flying aircraft. 1. In May 1960, the Soviet Union fired a missile at the U-2 and downed it. a. The plane was recovered then examined. Inside, the Soviets found a high-powered camera with photos of their missile sites. E. During the mid-1970’s, there was an issue considering if the CIA should continue Area 51. 1. Although they no longer needed the site to test aircraft, the Air Force needed the site for the development of stealth aircraft, radar testing, and exploitation of the Soviet MiG aircraft that the U.S. required. IV. During the summer of 1947, there were a handful of incidents regarding UFO’s. A. Many “flat, bat-shaped, reflective” objects were sighted at different times in Washington, Oregon, and Kansas on June 24, 1947. B. A single aerial-defying object crashed in Roswell, New Mexico about nine days later. 1. Witnesses recalled seeing alien bodies lying around the wreckage, and a statement was issued announcing the recovery of a flying disk by the military. 2. In 1947, a rancher named Mack Brazel came across unidentifiable debris on his ranch. a. Public interest in the crash soon died down after the Air Force released a statement saying the debris was from a weathering balloon. C. In the 1990’s, the government came out and said that the crash was not a weathering balloon, but one used for surveillance, part of a top-secret U.S. air force project to detect nuclear weapon explosions. 1. This led to more conspiracy theories and controversy. 2. The truth about the U-2 soon came out, however, the government still denied the existence of Area 51. a. Other popular aircrafts that have been tested are the A-12 Blackbird and the F-117A Nighthawk. The military remains silent about the speculations of them keeping the aurora housed within Area 51. D. A man named Bob Lazar came forward with a story that supported the claims of the strange sightings in May 1989. 1. He claimed to have worked at Area 51 a year before. a. He claims to have seen autopsy photographs of strange-looking aliens and their disk-shaped aircraft while working on the UFO’s. 2. Lazar’s story drove people to the area. E. To prevent anyone from seeing anything the military seized over 4,000 more acres of land around the base. 1. Area 51 has only officially existed since the mid-1990s. F. Workers at the site filed a lawsuit after experiencing severe health problems. 1. The lawsuit was regarding the chemicals they were exposed to while working there. G. Numerous headlines such as “Supersonic flying saucer Sighted by Idaho pilot” ran on front pages across the nation. 1. Bartholomew, a sociologist who has written extensively about UFO sightings, says, “In their haste to get the story out, the reporters got it wrong, yet created a whole new reality”. H. The modern UFO phenomenon in the U.S. can be traced to 1947, when pilot Kenneth Arnold reportedly saw nine objects flying near Mount Rainier in Washington state. 1. Fearing it was a foreign weapon, Arnold reported the sighting to a local newspaper. 2. His description of the UFO moving “like a saucer would if you skipped it across the water” was misquoted. I. Not used to seeing aircraft flying over the desert above 60,000 feet, there were many reports of UFO’s that began to stream in from airline pilots. 1. Precursor to the SR-71, the A-12 got similar reports given 95,000-foot ceiling. V. It is rumored that the military accessed alien technology after WWII, the time when technology started advancing at a fast pace. A. Area 51 is guarded heavily. 1. No one is allowed to take photographs near it. B. People began to see stranger objects in a remote area of Nevada during the 1950’s. They claimed to see UFO’s in the sky as well as strange lights. 1. Many of these people thought that these sightings had a reaction to a nearby U.S. military base called Groom Lake (present day Area 51). a. Area 51 is known by many different names, including: Groom Lake, Dreamland, The Box, Homey Airport, and Watertown Strip. C. Astronauts were sent to space to take photos of the Earth’s surface and were specifically ordered not to take pictures of the land containing Area 51. 1. The astronauts accidentally captured photos of Area 51. The CIA had these pictures classified. D. Another popular theory is that alien bodies are kept and tested on at Area 51. 1. There is a belief that several aliens survived the Roswell crash. E. Several odd-shaped objects, sonic booms, and unusual lights were seen and heard around Area 51, which has caused speculation. 1. The government was forced to admit Area 51 was a real place, but avoided releasing any information about the activities conducted. F. Numerous polls that have been conducted from the 1950’s show that belief in UFOs are not uncommon. 1. Roughly one in three Americans believe in the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrial beings. 2. Approximately half of Americans believe that aliens have visited Earth. 3. “I watch the lights every morning,” one resident of Rachel claims. “I know they are here.” VI.
Declassified in the summer of 2013, the CIA’s history of the U-2 spy plane sparked public interest in Area 51. Documents posted show that in the 1980s and 1970s, Area 51 played a bigger role in the development of the U.S. Air Force’s top secret stealth programs. A study written by Richelson, a man at the National Security Archives, said that the study released under a Freedom of Information Act requested in 2005, “is notable for the significant amount of newly declassified material with respect to the U-2.” The report had names of the pilots, their codenames, and a table with a key data on all U-2 flights over the Soviet Union. The U-2 and later Oxcart flights accounted for more than one-half of all UFO reports in the late 1950s and most of the 1960s. The F-1171 Nighthawk fed to the UFO reports primarily because it was only operated on at night, looked like no other airplane, and was a ground attack bomber. Rumored to be associated with aliens, Area 51 has a unique history of public speculation and government
use.
Located 90 miles north of Las Vegas sits a high-security military base widely known as Area 51. For decades people have had suspicions about whether or not alien life forms exist and if so, whether or not they are imprisoned at Area 51. This curiosity has been fueled by not only interest in extraterrestrials, but also reported sightings of foreign life forms not from planet Earth. The conspiracies, other life forms exist and are being kept at military base, have largely been fueled by the government’s involvement in nearly all reported sightings. Area 51 not only has discovered other forms of life from outer space but also is most likely conducting strange experiments there.
...ary knew about the crash and that they were going to transport the wreckage to another military base. Many eyewitness accounts with similar details eliminate the possibility of merely a single person making up the entire event. The government’s contradictory reports demonstrate that their knowledge of the incident is dynamic and dependent on how they want the people to react. This matter is important because it raises the possibility that if the government is hiding information from the public about a spacecraft accident, there may be other incidents where the government is concealing the truth from the public. Despite the government’s best attempts to cover up the Roswell incident, eyewitness accounts from the common person validate the idea that an unidentified flying object crashed in Roswell, New Mexico and eternally changed the lives of several people.
This paper will prove it will remain unknown if the Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) crash sighting at Roswell, New Mexico on July 4th, 1947 did happen, although the government is hiding Extraterrestrial information there. The following is a list of terms that may become confusing to some readers.
There are many conspiracies that people say have happened at the Roswell crash in the summer of 1947 in Roswell New Mexico. Nobody knows what really happened at the crash in Roswell New Mexico but, many people say that the thing that had crashed there was a UFO and or a flying saucer which mean there being aliens. Even after 50 years the people still do not know what happened and for everybody that doesn’t know were going to go deeper into what really happened. This incident had caused a lot of chaos with the Air force and the people.
The Roswell UFO incident is considered to be the most controversial and well known capture of an alien craft and its occupants. It is still unknown to the public and the United States Military still maintains that the crash was that of a secret balloon. Information has been concealed and misinterpreted since the incident, the people may never know the true story of Roswell. Or if the military press release really is true and all that truly happened was a crashed surveillance balloon.
Reviewing the experiments five years later, one secrecy-conscious CIA auditor wrote: “Precautions must be taken not only to protect operations from exposure to enemy forces but also to conceal these activities from the American public in general. The knowledge that the agency is engaging in unethical and illicit activities would have serious repercussions in political and diplomatic circles.” Though many of the documents related to MKULTRA were destroyed by the CIA in 1972, some records relating to the program have made it into the public domain. And the work of historians, investigative reporters, and various congressional committees has resulted in the release of enough information to make MKULTRA one of the most disturbing instances of intelligence community abuse on record. As writer Mark Zepezauer puts it, “the surviving history is nasty enough.”
Many students who are enrolled in FFA are already heading in the right direction to a bright future. FFA has many career benefits within the program. Any of the career development events (CDE’s) have something that will tie to a career in agriculture or to a career of other sorts. According to the National FFA Organization, “FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural science classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiency in competitions based on real-world agricultural skills”(“Statistics”). There are so many careers that tie into FFA, and many of them have to do with agriculture. Not every career that has to do with agriculture is about farming. There are so many different aspects of the agriculture industry that many people never think twice about. Most people are not interested in agriculture because they think it is just about farming or
At the start of September, Donald Trump terminated a program and in turn put fear into the hearts of nearly 800,000 people and their friends and family. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, was a program that was made to replace the DREAM Act (a policy that was not approved by Congress which would have created a path towards citizenship for “illegal” immigrants that came to the United States as children). DACA was put into effect in 2012 by former President Barack Obama through an executive order. This policy protects immigrants who, as children, were either illegally brought to the United States or were brought legally but then stayed past their visas’ expiration dates. DACA provides this specific group of immigrants with protection from deportation, a social security number, and a work permit; however, it is not a way of gaining legal status. Not only are the qualifications for eligibility specific and limiting, but the application process itself is expensive, extensive, long, and it has to be done every two years.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
Whether or not the Roswell incident truly involved a UFO remains unclear. How ever, the military cover-up only served to fuel the fire of our imaginations. Interest continues to grow, as questions remain unanswered. Even Bill Clinton has been quoted as saying “…If the United States Air Force did recover alien bodies, they didn’t tell me about it either, and I want to know”(qtd. in Wright 105).
"Area 51 and Its Purpose Declassified: No UFOs, but Lots of U-2 Spy Planes." NBC News. N.p., n.d. Web. 09 Apr. 2014.
Area 51 may be the most famous military base run by the US government that doesn’t officially exist as no one knows what goes on inside the base past its perimeters. Its current primary purpose is publicly unknown; however, based on historical evidence, it most likely supports the development and testing of experimental aircraft Under highly secretive conditions. The official explanation given by the military is that this is the location of a firing range used by the US Air Force. There are several theories about how Area 51 got its name, the most popular being that the facility borders the Nevada Test Site (NTS, used as testing grounds for nuclear bombs). The NTS is mapped as a grid of squares that are numbered from one to 30 (with a few
Most people today believe area 51 is where the government store, and do research on the “alien ships”. Because of its high security, warning signs, and even to the black armored trucks with armed men watching your every move as you approach the signs that say “ no one without a high security clearance can go beyond this point” It has been the main focus of the alien theories. But what about the other bases? Such as, Pine Gap (Australia), Kapustin Yar (Russia), HAARP Research Station (Alaska), Porton Down (UK), and most recently the Dulce bases (A.K.A.) Area 52. All of these bases you can find loads of information on except for the new Dulce base. Was area 51 a cover up for the real Alien base? “There is no concrete evidence to this day about Dulce. It is alleged to be located near the Colorado-New Mexico border town of Dulce. Why can we not locate it? Because it is located underground. Completely Secluded area under the Archuleta Mesa” (Top 5 secret). While there is little to no information on this base, there are a few articles that support the Dulce base is the “secret” that the government has been trying to hide away from society for many years. One of the many reasons they may be hiding this “operation” is because there is new found evidence of an “alien” race that is native to Earth and that has been here all
Have you ever had to make a decision in your life? I’m pretty sure we all have, the decision can even be what you ate for breakfast in the morning. Robert Frost wrote a poem about a man who has to make an important decision. In the poem “The Road Not Taken”, by Robert Frost, he states, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference” (Woods). To me taking the road less traveled by means, doing something on your own. It means not following a crowd, it means doing something unique. It can be hard to go your own way, but that is what Robert Frost is talking about. Everybody should go the path is right for them, not the one that many other people have gone down. There are many examples of people taking the unexpected path, I have gone through a path many people have never seen before, so have
The creation of Area 51 began in April of 1955, when a Lockheed test pilot, Tony LeVier, searched for a remote site to test the U-2. Grooms Lake is chosen as the location for the runway. By August of 1955, the U-2 makes its first flight from Grooms Lake. That was only the beginning for test flights from Area 51. In April 1962, the first A-12 Blackbird was tested at Groom Lake. February 1982, the F-117A Stealth fighter takes off for the first time. All other test flights have not been released to the public, but that doesn't mean they don't occur. However, they are, in no way, shape or form, alien test flights. Nearly all of the evidence that supports the alien spacecraft theory, is without backing, or solid information. Also, the US government played on the UFO theories to hide their own testing plans. Today, Area 51 is the home to the latest top secret aircraft: the Aurora, among others Many of these aircraft, past and present, are able to perform incredible feats in the sky. Some so unbelievable, that they could be mistaken for alien spacecraft by fanatics of extra-terrestrials. However, based on the falsified eye-witness accounts of Area 51, and declassification of military spy planes like the U-2 and F-117A Stealth fighter, I am here to tell you that these flights are not alien crafts, but actually secret military aircraft.
