Dogs make good pets for several reasons. They provide one with an unbreakable friendship. Dogs in general have a loving personality to their owner. No matter how long the owner may be away, they will always welcome them with excited kisses and tail wagging. For example, when I first moved away from home, I'd come back and visit as often as I could. My dog missed me so much that she would greet me as soon as I stepped foot out of my truck. Immediately, she would wag her tail, bark and jump up and down. Getting my dog, Tips, as a birthday present turned into a friendship that I will always cherish. Another benefit of being a dog owner is it teaches one a valuable lesson in responsibility. It's important to feed and give water to the pet
Service dogs are a low risk treatment, that can replace dangerous medication and expensive devices. For a purebred service dog is $20,000, however there are non profit organizations that provide service dogs at a much lower cost, but there is usually a long wait list (“Costs”). ASDA (Autism Service Dogs of America) sets a donation goal of $13,500 for every approved family, which is always achieved. Another option is buying the dog from a breeder and paying for the training and accessories. If a puppy is purchased from a dog breeder for around $2,500, in two years time the dog would have costed around $5,200 dollars. The rest of the $ 2,700 comes from vet bills, service gear, training expenses, food, treats, and toys. (“Service”) Getting a dog from a rescue center will cost about the same amount because usually vet bills and training expenses are incrases. However in the long run the owner is most likely to spend more money on a rescue dog, because they often have more issues, physically and mentally which cause them to wear out faster. There is no health insurance that cover service animals. Service dogs however do replace the nasty side effects of some medication, and devices that won't provide companionship. Although the average hearing aid costs $4,000, hearing aides need replaced as the person grows, and need repairs as well, putting the total
Public dog parks could be very essential to cities. Many people who own dogs have no where to take them, which does not give the dogs any exercise or social interaction. We should treat our pets as equal and satisfy their needs as much as our own.

“Buddy and Ty donate time to a literacy program. Link provides therapy for people with disabilities. For years, Ben brought cheer to nursing home patients. What’s unique about these volunteers? They all have tails. And four legs” (Kolich 2). Service animals are a big part of most communities. These animals are trained to perform certain tasks to help those that need them. The world of service dogs involves not only working with owners, but also working around business’ policies, and being aware of the laws against service animals.
Pit bulls are often characterized as dangerous dogs that are capable of seriously injuring people due to their behavior and physical characteristics. Some cities, like Miami, have gone as far as banning the breed entirely. Pit bull owners say the dogs have an unwarranted stigma. There's nothing inherently more dangerous about the pit bull than other dogs. It's that they get a bad rap due to abusive owners who mistreat the dogs. What do you think?
With 124 million households across the United States roughly 42 million of those have at least one dog. Such a massive amount of people consider these loving companions a family member, and dare to imagine life without them present. This is correct; I currently own two puppies, both that bring me endless love and happiness. With so many canines out there, it is important that there are laws in place to keep humans and all of our paw friends safe and alive. I believe dogs should be leashed throughout the United States.

Dogs make better pets overall. They are more aware of emotional feelings than cats are and dogs tend to be more loyal and less defiant. As a child I owned several cats and dogs. I found that the dogs had a higher intellect and were more willing to learn new things.

Pets are all over the world, and a part of many people's everyday lives. After seeing my grandmas dog close to death about a week ago, it reminded me of how impacted I was when I lost a pet in the past. That’s when I realized that pets leave a very impactful mark on other people's lives. Then, I remembered not everyone has had pets in their lives due to various reasons like allergies and seeing them as dangerous. This led me to my research question; Should kids have pets in their lives? Weighing the options, I can see both sides to the question at hand. I was a child who grew up with pets by my side, but I also had been greatly harmed by one. When I was just a preschooler, I was critically bit by my own dog in the face, just inches away from a fatal vein in my neck. I still have the scar to this day, yet I still surround myself with animals everyday.
