Are Wars As Wrongful As They Seem? The idea of going to war never seems like a good one, but if World War Two didn’t exist the world wouldn’t be the same. Just wars like World War Two have been seen many times throughout history and without them who knows what the world would be today. War is a devastating problem that has existed all throughout the world, yet despite this fact people are still driven to go to war. Although war’s more severe effects (including death and future struggle between nations) often are considered to outweigh the benefits, from certain perspectives, such as a leader or government, war can be considered just and viewed as favorable for a society who wants to gain power or stop an opposing force, or for the entire world. …show more content…

Many wars stop an opposing threat, help a country grow or even keep the world from being destroyed. World War One had many awful traits, but in general World War One is considered just for a variety of reasons. The first and one of the most prominent reasons is because, “The League of Nations came into being at the end of the war with the aim of preventing future war” (Pettinger, Positive aspects of the First World War). The creation of The League of Nations is an amazingly beneficial outcome of World War One because it induced countries from all around the world to work together and make decisions together based on mutually agreed on rules. It was the blueprint for the modern day United Nations. The First World War can also be considered just because of what it did for the world, “If Germany had defeated Belgium and France, modern Europe would have been dominated by a militaristic German who would have treated conquered nations as vassal states” (Pettinger, Positive aspects of the First World War). Without the Treaty of Versailles to limit Germany’s military might and strong economy, the world could have been engulfed by the German military. A third benefit of World War One was the new advancements made in technology, even though many of them were developed to kill, this technology bettered life in the long run.

The Russian Revolution was initially perceived to be a just war by the people but in hindsight the transition from a Czarist rule to a Communist one wasn’t that desirable. The one major positive outcome that came out of the revolution was the removal of the Czarist rule. Before the revolution, “[Russia] lacked good leadership. Tsar Nicholas II (r. 1894 – 1917) had complete control over the bureaucracy and the army. He refused to share his power and the masses began to question his leadership”(Fernholz, The Russian Revolution of 1917). Russia was missing a good ruler and system of government they needed something new, this new system of government that they needed was communism. Communism seemed like a great alternative to the rule of Czar Nicholas II, but after experiencing Communism most of the world realized how horrible it could be. The fact that Russia had it’s abominable Czarist rule replaced made the war seem just at first, but the change from the Czarist rule to Communism makes the war have a less beneficial outcome than originally sought
