Love is an experience that some people, for lack of a better word, fall in love with. Some people are simply in love with being in love. Others on the other hand, see others love and happiness and use it against their own relationships. Seeing other people happy and doing well, makes them angry at their own lives that they have yet to find a deep, true love. Throughout our lives our views on love change, just like the people around us do. Whether you’re the cardiologist who works on hearts, but can’t understand his own, or the kid who thinks he’s in love and then his love turns into extreme anger. The young boy’s first love happens to be his friend’s sister and he has really fallen for her. There is a scene where the two are talking and the boy notices every detail about the girl, such as each hair on her neck and the, “White curve of her neck.” Each moment he spends looking at the girl he falls more and more in love with her. He wants to do something nice for her and really show his appreciation for the girl. She’s an older girl so I think that he is trying to show off to her that he is worth her time and that he deserves her, so he needs the perfect item. He wants to go to the local bazaar and buy her one of the items that are being sold there and it has to be just right. But his uncle, whom he seems to be living with, comes home drunk and stalls his plans of going there and almost eliminates his plans totally. To me, this is the first thing that portrays a negative connotation on relationships in the story. The boy is living with his aunt and uncle and no parents are mentioned in the story. There was two people at the beginning of the relationship, the boy’s parents, and now they are nowhere to be mentioned. It just provides a negative connotation. But when the boy gets the bazaar is when his views on relationships is changed, based on the people he is around. He gets to the bazaar and he is very late, it is about to close down. He is scrambling to find something good, but all the good items are taken. He then sees a girl, who is with two boys, one of which is her boyfriend, and she is very rude and uninterested in what the boy has to say to her. The girls boyfriend isn’t treating her very properly either. He is just trying to find the perfect gift for the girl that he loves, and the couple is nothing but rude to him. He sees the way that this girls relationship works and he is immediately annoyed.
