Antonio Meucci
Throughout history there have been many tragedies and many successes, the history of Antonio Meucci was both a tragedy and a success. It was a tragedy that he died broke and had his invention stolen (expanded upon) from him by Alexander Graham Bell, however it is a success because he helped create the great American invention called the telephone (and now has the recognition he deserves). In this research paper I will give a history/story of Antonio Meucci, what he created, a brief history of Alexander Graham Bell, what he created/expanded on and my opinion on the matter.
In 2002, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution which recognized Antonio Meucci for his contributions to the telephone and also recognized him as the inventor of the telephone. This resolution also concluded Alexander Graham Bell was a thief. Strangely enough during the same time that Antonio and Bell where making the telephone six other people were working on ways to make one as well even though they had no knowledge of each other (other than Bell knowing of Meucci and Ellisha Gray) or the inventions that those people were making.
Antonio Meucci was born 1808 Via dei Serragli 44 in the San Frediano borough of Florence and died 1889 from an illness. He was an Italian inventor most famous for his contributions to the telephone. ...ects me in any way but I do find it interesting. Whether I can describe how surprised I am that I was “lied to” is a relative term to me since history is probably filled with lies since we base everything on what humans /people say or find and given that humans are not perfect we are bound to encounter falsities, logistically. Conclusively even though Antonio Meucci was the first person to invent the telephone he was not a very good business man which ultimately led to Bell winning out because he had more power, money, lawyers and plainly was a better business man. These qualifies allowed him to takeover as the inventor of the telephone. Unfortunately this is much of how the world works where the person with more power and money/resources will usually be the one on top. Alternative to which, I feel this topic is not a bad conversation starter for some people.
