Organisms, no matter what shape or size, depend on each other for survival – that’s how an ecosystem works. Sometimes, species would have to come together to depend on each other for survival. Other organisms would take up their own responsibility in the family. Animals and plants alike depend on each other, no matter the problem. For example, the clownfish and the anemone depend on each other for survival. The anemone is poisonous, but the clownfish is immune to the poison because of the anemone get nutrients from the clown fish’s poop. Species, like a cat and a dog, may seem to have a rivalry with each other. However, in times of need, they might come together for a truce. A dog that just had puppies might foster a litter of new kittens because of the mother’s responsibilities, the ability to work with the kittens, and the bonds that come with it. A mother dog might foster a litter of kittens because she can work with the kittens. According to the passage, “Animal Roles and Relationships,” the author states that “Mammals are known for developing roles within their natural order…(Lionesses) Not only do they care for their own cubs, but they will take care of each other’s cubs as well.” This quote shows that mammals depend on each …show more content…
other for many things such as caring for one’s young. The mother dog may feel the same way towards the litter of kittens. The dog, as a mammal and a new mother of newer puppies, would feel obligated to care for the kittens, no matter what the rivalry the two species may have in the past. A mother dog might foster a litter of new kittens because of the mother’s existing responsibilities with her own puppies.
In the passage, “Animal Roles and Relationships,” it states that animals should be able to work together so that animal world can continue to run efficiently. This paraphrase talks about how animals, even different species of animals, should work together so that there won’t be any disruptor in the world of animals. The mother of the puppies would try to see that the kittens can work together with her puppies. The mother would have her own responsibilities, which would help her take care of the kittens. This would help because she is raising her own puppies and the kittens together and she would know what to
do. The mother of newly born dogs can foster a litter of kittens because of the bonds that the family of dogs has towards the kittens. Per the passage, “Unusual Animal Friendships,” the passage talks about the many friendships animals have towards each other, mostly animals of another species. An example in the passage talks about an orangutan and a dog becoming friends because of a tragic accident that happened to the orangutan’s parents. Because the litter of kittens had just been left by their parents, the puppies might become best friends with the kittens. This friendship might encourage the mother to take the kittens under her wing, or in this case, paw, and foster the young kittens. The two species of animals would have many bonds because of the close relation they have to each other. The new mother of recently born puppies might foster a litter of newly born kittens because of the mother’s responsibilities, the ability to work with the kittens, and the bonds that come with it. The mother would be able to take care of kittens because she would know how to raise them. The mother would be able to work together with the kittens to make sure that they have a good life. She would also have many bonds with the kittens as both species are mammals and they both depend on each other in an ecosystem. How do you think the mother of newly born puppies might foster a litter of kittens?
In the article of "Why do species matters?" by Lilly-Marlene Russow, the author establish the desire of species,, why individuals tend to treat living being (creature) distinctively in light of the fact that they are an alternate animal groups; and furthermore treat certain creatures of an animal groups with more thought. She additionally emphasize on the issue which is figuring out what commitments a man may have toward one creature over another.Russow argues that one commitment toward animals for some is to secure declining or endangered species, yet this does not really stretch out to the whole types of that animal. As indicated
In the story of “Half Husky” the protagonist Vanessa is shown to be more related to many school students, including my friend James, that we all have numerous responsibilities, but we are often distracted, fail to notice or carry out our responsibilities. As we kids grow older and older we tend to notice more responsibilities placed upon us whether we choose to take on these responsibility or they are circumstantial. This is explained by the relationship that Vanessa has with her pet dog Nanuk. In the story Vanessa begged her grandfather to accept the dog into the family, and in return she said that she would take the duty of taking care of the husky. This situation is reminiscent to the time where my friend James told a story of his own pet
“As the birthrate dropped, pets came to take the place of children in some families.” I think this means that pets are basically replacing children in some people's lives. In his article, Bilger says that a man refused to come back from Europe when his son died of a brain tumor, but he had a vet flown in when his dog got cancer. He cared more about his dog than his child.
Faye is fighting to re-home animals that have been abandoned and abused. Since 2012 she has re-homed more than 60 dogs, and about 20 kittens. Faye says, “I would do anything no matter what to save one animal.” It’s as if her whole entire life revolves around saving animals. Faye thinks just by adopting an animal you can help animal abandonment. Also, Faye has her own book on why animal abandonment isn’t good. Although Faye thinks her job is stressful, she thinks it’s easy because she enjoys doing her job and helping animals find a home.
The term self-control, tends to be associated with behavior and emotions. Most would think of controlling behavior caused by emotion. They think of punching the wall because of anger, or not wanting to cry in public. In chapter 8 of the book “The Social Animal” by David Brooks. Brooks confronts misconceptions in the way people view self-control. Specifically, Brooks argues that self-control is more about what the mind gives attention too than about the controlling the emotion or action. Brooks uses the character of Erica and her tennis career to explain how to have self- control. Brooks explains, “She was reminding herself that she had a say in triggering which inner self would dominate her behavior. All she had to do was focus her attention
For example the canopies of kelp provide shelter for many organisms . Because the kelp is able to float, it creates a canopy. This canopy has warm temperatures and slow water currents, providing a home to defenseless young. This is important because the kelp is able to protect many organisms from predators and rough storms (6). Kelp is also the base of the food chain. Since kelp is the base of the food chain many organisms eat kelp and other animals eat them. This is important because without the kelp all the primary consumers would starve having no other food source (5). Finally each part of kelp is home to a different species. Because each part of kelp is home to a different species, many species breed in them. This is important because if the kelp where gone there would be no place for the organisms to breed downsizing their population (4). Overall kelp is providing food and shelter to many

Every organism has a role to play in the ecosystem and each one has it effects on others. To explain this idea leopard begins by describing the howl of the wolf: “A deep chesty bawl echoes from rimrock to rimrock, rolls down the mountain, and fades into the far blackness of the night. It is an outburst of wild defiant sorrow, and of contempt for all the adversities of the world. Every living thing (and perhaps many a dead one as well) pays heed to that call.” Leopold is explaining how the howl of the wolf means different things to different organisms in the ecosystem. The howl is not simply just a call of the wolf, it generates d...
A wolf pack is, at its foundation, simply a family, with the parents (alphas) guiding the activities of the group. Hence, it is easy to believe that dogs are able to bond with human families, especially when the alphas are already parents. The parents view the dog as one of their children, one who remains dependent and will never leave or criticize them (Rogers 1), and in the same manner, the dog views the human parents as if they were his actual parents and as a result, loves and trusts them with his life gladly following them, not once questioning their decisions or actions. For these reasons, humans have found release in the company of dogs because dogs do not judge. By way of example, Sigmund Freud was notably a bad singer and as a result, never sang in public, however he often hummed an aria while petting his dog (Rogers 2). In the presence of dogs, our need to self-censor our words and actions vanishes (Rogers 2). Ultimately, dogs and human beings are able to form such strong emotional bonds through love and
For a species to survive and flourish within a given environment, it not only needs to replace itself but also all the other species around it exclusively. Hence, if one species completely replaces another species, the result is a single dominant species, a monoculture (source 2). According to Gause’s law, every species in a given environment occupies different niches for survival. Therefore, two separate species competing for similar resources cannot fundamentally coexist (source Gause). This is known as the competitive exclusion principle. When comparing animal niche’s to that of different autotrophic plants, one can rather easily differentiate adequate ecological niches for the animal species merely based on food-requirements (P.J. Grubb). On the contrary, many autotrophic plants contradict the competitive exclusion principle by sharing similar ecological niches such as sunlight, carbon dioxide, water, and alike mineral nutrients (p.j. grubb).
Pets can have real jobs like people. Dogs-rescuers save lives together with people. For instance, when people get in appalling avalanches courageous dogs-rescuers help to find them. Also, some breeds of dogs, e.g. sheep dog, badger-dog, labrador, spaniel, and so on, serve at customs. More than that, they can find illegal things like drugs, dangerous weapons, or explosive stuff. What’s more, they help to control order and assist in avoiding terrible acts of terrorism. Some people literally can't live without pets. For example, blind people need guide-dogs to move around their homes. The connection between such masters and their pets becomes really strong and truly close and a person gets pet-dependent in this case. Enthusiastic owners devote their life to pets. They try to make the best for them and like to take part in exhibitions. Pet's clothes, food, houses, brushes take on special value for
The articles, “Animal Roles and Relationships” and “ Unusual Animal Friendships”, both state the unique relationships that animals have with each other. From reading both articles, a dog, that just had puppies could care for a litter of new kittens in numerous ways. Thanks to both articles, “Animal Roles and Relations” and “Unusual Animal Friendships”, I now know how the relationship between animals actually work. The articles states that the relations between animals are different according to the animals that are involved. Article, “Animal Roles and Relationships” states that every group member of a animal pack, has to play a certain role, of which things they would do to make sure everyone is taken care of. The article, “ Unusual Animal
De Bary defined symbiosis as the phenomenon in which unlike organisms live together. Therefore, the original definition of symbiosis was meant to include the entire gamut of close and long-term associations between two distinguished organisms, unaware of the harm or benefit caused by the interaction. Animals all over the world are involved in symbiotic relationships. The types of symbiotic relationships are mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. ("Symbiosis." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 13 May 2014. Web. 15 May 2014).
The branch of science that deals with how living things, including humans, are related to their surroundings is called ecology . The Earth supports some 5 million species of plants, animals, and microorganisms. These interact and influence their surroundings, forming a vast network of interrelated environmental systems called ecosystems. The arctic tundra is an ecosystem and so is a Brazilian rain forest. The islands of Hawaii are a relatively isolated ecosystem. If left undisturbed, natural environmental systems tend to achieve balance or stability among the various species of plants and animals. Complex ecosystems are able to compensate for changes caused by weather or intrusions from migrating animals and are therefore usually said to be more stable than simple ecosystems. A field of corn has only one dominant species, the corn plant, and is a very simple ecosystem. It is easily destroyed by drought, insects, disease, or overuse. A forest may remain relatively unchanged by weather that would destroy a nearby field of corn, because the forest is characterized by greater diversity of plants and animals. Its complexity gives it stability.
Animals can be perceived in many different ways. While some humans consider animals to be mindless machines programmed with instinct, others view them as spiritual creatures capable of coherent thought and emotions. I feel that animals are somewhere in the middle. Although they rely heavily on instinct, the ability to feel emotions shows that their mental capacity is not far from that of a human.
