Animal Rights in the Media
This essay will explore the moral and ethical issues raised by human superiority over animals, why we shouldn’t have any superiority, and how this subject is portrayed in a variety of different media. The world today is becoming less aware of the pain and suffering being inflicted on animals. As a result, animals are becoming even more and more downtrodden in society. Humans have, and continue to, treat animals as if they are property, as if we can own and therefore control their lives and what happens to them.
This is immoral, animals are here for themselves, animals have their own lives, and they think, have feelings, feel pain, require love (from their own species), feel emotional hurt, have families, and everything else that humans do. To just simply say that non-human animals should have no rights because they’re “defective” is a mindless statement! People come to this “conclusion” because they come up with some mindless babble like, non-human animals can’t talk, drive cars or vote, therefore they have no non-tradable properties. Well answer me this; do non-human animals have the right to exist in their natural environment and express behaviours that matter to them? We withhold non-human animals the very basic rights, simply because they don’t resemble humans. Humans are speciest.
Humans are callous, brutal and cold-blooded towards non-human animals; humans have no consideration for the feelings and suffering which they selfishly inflict on animals.
When a human kills another human they are the disgrace of the country, the headlines in the news, and all they did was kill one human, one insignificant human life. Yet, no one seems to care that everyday billions upon billions of innocent animals are being sickeningly, nauseatingly, hideously, vilely, unanaesthetically murdered for meat. If you think the process of that cute cow in the field to the steak on your plate is all candy and roses, then here is an extract from a very informative article on the way in which an animal is killed to become meat, (something that humans have no nutritional requirement for!).
“Death came in the form of a pneumatic nail gun that was placed against their heads and fired. The gun is designed so that the nail never completely leaves the gun, but simply is blown into the animal's head and then pulled out by the butcher as the animal co...

...or things as vain as make-up, yes that’s right, millions of whales are murdered to make useless cosmetics, vain and heartless! This book shows man in his most arrogant state, it shows that humans will stop at nothing, they don’t care if it involves the ruthless torture of non-human animals, as long as their profiting then they don’t care.
So as all the sources show, humans are heartless and speciest. The way in which humans treat non-human animals needs drastic changing; we should not be exploiting them for any reason at all. There are not here to serve us, they are here for there own purposes. One final question for you to consider; “If possessing a higher degree of intelligence does not entitle one human to use another for his own ends, how can it entitle humans to exploit non-humans?”

Thanks to courageous women like Stephanie Schroeder and the Tailhook scandal in 1991, sexual assault in the United States military does not carry the same stigma that it once did. Even Congress is “genuinely embarrassed by the extent of sexual assault in the military. It is conduct unbecoming a soldier and also makes recruiting women more difficult” (Rosen). Unfortunately, it is unlikely that sexual assault will be completely stopped. It can, however, decline through laws. Some proposed laws, like reinstating the ban on women in combat roles and Senator McCaskill’s bill, will not effectively shrink the epidemic. But until a proper solution is put into place, sexual assault will continue to permeate the United States military.

The corruption around sexual assault in the U.S. military is overwhelmingly devastating. Many women would report cases of rape just to be told that they were lying, or that there was not enough evidence or that their rape kit had been lost.7 In some cases, the attackers would be the victim’s commander; these officials did 25% of sexual assaults.6 The military has huge power in this nation and have been using their power to cover up their own criminal acts. It is difficult for the victims to come forward for these horrible assaults. Women that do come forward either lose their ranking or nothing’s done because the person they go to is friends with the assailant. It is believed that over 85-90% of rapes in the U.S. military go unreported. Over the years, floods of people have come forward, yet the number of unreported cases remains the same.6 The documentary Invisible War did a tremendous job on bringing this problem into the eyes of the public and to our government, which recently passed legisl...
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the issue of rape and sexual assault in the military. The number of attacks for rape and sexual assault in the military are at an all-time high. Women have recently been allowed to fight on the front line. While this may be a huge achievement for women-kind, for this woman, it is a very scary thought. I am a junior at Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences; a school geared towards students wishing to enter the medical field. I may be forced to join the military one day if a war breaks out and women are needed to protect the country. I would be happy to serve my country if I did not have to be scared of my fellow soldiers. Rape and sexual assault are major issues in the military and have been for many years without much effort to decrease the attacks. I am suggesting that unless the rape and sexual assault issue is fixed, the amount of people joining the military, specifically the women, will decrease greatly.
Many people feel like they need meat to survive, and that makes them turn a blind eye to the monstrous killings of animals. It is said that we became efficient killers by watching other killers (Scientificamerican.com), but people keep enabling killing past the point where it’s necessary to survive. It’s entirely possible to eat a healthy varied diet without meat, or to buy free range meat locally. The protein and nutrients that most people fear losing when they stop eating meat can be found if foods like tofu, and in supplements. Free range meat is also an option for people who don’t want to fully give up eating meat because the animals aren’t kept in inhumanely tiny spaces before they are butchered. People have more control over the food that they need to eat in order to survive in their environments, so it’s no longer necessary to support the inhumane butchering of animals when there are lots of alternatives that still provide the nutrients that our bodies
The armed forces have a lot of work to do, in general, with preventing sexual assault and acting on it in the correct way. But testimonies of brutally raped individuals show that the military’s leaders are the ones who are doing the real hurting. These commanding officers are preventing victims from getting the justice and help they deserve by either favoring the perpetrator or punishing the victim using law. In the civilian judicial courts, rapists can get years in prison while military members may only get reduced in rank. Military sexual assault cases need to be taken out of the military’s hands and put into the civilian courts where victims can get the satisfaction they deserve by putting their attackers behind bars.
“The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality.”(Arthur Schopenhauer)
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: A Scandal in Bohemia, demonstrates how a specific character can be used to expand upon the complexity of the story’s main character. Specifically in the case of Irene Adler, Conan Doyle does not go into much detail about her, as much as he uses her as a contrast to Holmes. Adler’s presence in the story is the antagonist, but seems much more than that to Holmes’. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s use of Adler seems to be very unique and creative compared to some of his other works, though after her appearance, Conan Doyle’s works with Sherlock all come to a similar structure, that Sherlock seems to come to adore the villains, more so the villains intellect, and put up with the people that hire him.
Animals will have rights when they have the means to enforce them. They don't have the ability to reason as humans do. The human race has such a vast understanding of the necessities for all of the different species of animals to exist. Humans are far superior to any other animal because they are so advanced in technology. One advantage of advanced technology is, humans can store information as reference material. With all of this reference material humans can look back at previous mistakes so they don't do the same thing again. With this knowledge, humans can see and predict outcomes before a choice is made. Humans have the knowledge to enforce their rights, something no other animal has.
Executive Summary Every 60 seconds, an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
From Korean Pop stars to dramas, South Korea has it going on. It seems that there is not one Asian country that has not had the Korean Wave, a Chinese term given to South Korea referring to the exportation of their culture, completely wash over it. What started as an Asian sensation, the Korean Wave is now beginning to spread globally, ranking South Korea as one of the top countries known for its exportation of culture. Between music, television, and video games, South Korea’s economy is rapidly increasing as the world continues to fall in love with its entertainment industry.
Asian diets are made up of three different groups, those being China, Korea, and Japan. All Chinese food is considered to be East Asian food. In china there are three regional cuisines, which are cantorese, chaozho, and sphanghainese. Chaozho and Cantorese regions are known for their vegetable and meat recipes and Shandong areas use foods like noodles and dumplings as a gui...
To conclude this paper then, after reviewing the reasons for being opposed to assigning rights to non-human animals I am still faithfully for the idea. There is no justification for the barbaric and insensitive ways to which we have been treating the non-human animals with over the decades. As I stated before, they are living creatures just as we are, they have families, emotions and struggles of their own without the ones we inflict on them. So then where does this leave us? Of course it is a complicated mater, but none the less non-human animals should be protected with rights against them being used as machines, for food, for their skins, their wool, and all cases in which they are being abused.
Animals deserve fair and ethical treatment, however not necessarily equally. Non-human animals and humans are not one in the same, there is no way we will ever be defined and put in the same category. Humans have reference levels, the ability to reason and think logically. We have evolved to the point where we can study, contain, and determine the outcome of basically any animal on Earth, now it’s up to us to ensure they are treated fairly.
South Korea’s capital is Seoul. The current leader President Park Geun-hye, who is the first female president in Korea’s history, was elected in 2013. South Korea has a presidential republic government system. Combined with centralized economic planning and government regulation, its mixed economic system gave this developed country a high standard of living (“Introduction” 2014).
