Analytical Essay on Macbeth

As the Scottish win the battle, the brilliant efforts of Macbeth are commended by Malcolm. He describes the "brave”(I,ii,12) Macbeth  as smoked with “bloody execution”(I,ii14) as he slaughters Macdonwald and placed his head on the battlements. The “bloody execution” creates a vivid imagery which effectively describes Macbeth as a brave and honorable commander of the Scottish army. In addition, it introduces the idea that Macbeth is capable of causing bloody destruction during a battle.To futher extend, it is also quite ironic as King Duncan sings Macbeth's praises the day before Macbeth plans to kill him in order to fulfill the witches' prophecy. Right before the murder of King Duncan, Macbeth envisages a bloody dagger floating in the air, pointing towards Duncan's chamber. This imaginary blood on the daggar “Which was not so before. / It is the bloody business which informs” (II.i, 46-48) brings his conscience to justify the murder he is about to perform, and again the blood doesn’t take with a negative tone at this point. Here, the bloody dagger is encouraging him to commit the murder rather than show the destructive nature of murdering
