As I look back into my high school years, I thought I wrote papers well. But then coming into a college environment, my papers were mediocre. By overlooking at my past papers, I found that they were unorganized, sloppy and had bad use of diction. From now on, I will use the tools I learned in English 1100-40 as a foundation for the future papers I intend on writing in college. Following the criteria of organizing ideas so that they flow, impacting the reader with diction and also by being creative, will help become an ideal writer. Following the criteria of staying motivated in short and long term goals, taking responsibility for actions and finally the ability to study well will help me develop into a supreme student.
The literary device, author’s voice, is the individual writing style of an author. It is a combination of diction, punctuation, character development, dialogue, etc., within a given body of text. There are many examples of how author’s voice affects the meaning of a text in the classic book, Night, a book about the life and thoughts of a young Jewish boy going through the Holocaust, as well as in “A Spring Morning”, a short story about the results of having a kid while Germany is in control of Poland. These examples include: when the author is foreshadowing, when the author is writing about someone is being told to obey, and when the author is writing about a loved one dying.

A person living forever never aging or dying, then no, the elixir of life or fountain of youth has not been found; nonetheless, in the case of Henrietta Lacks, her cells have. Henrietta Lacks, although dead, is still living through her malignant cancer cells that multiply endlessly as long as it is cultured with space. In classical literature, immortality correlates with an endless lifespan never reaching death of old age or disease.
