Most Meaningful Word in a Text In the poem "Identity", by Julio Noboa Polanco, the most meaningful word is "free" because it conveys the theme of it more important to be independent and disliked than to live by other's opinions and be admired. The author is compares himself to other people, described as "flowers", beautiful and loved, but are restricted to the "flowerpot" that they are in. The author does not want to be one of these people, preferring to make his own choices and experience the freedom of life, even if it meant they would be an ugly weed, despised by everyone. The author reveals this theme when he writes about how he wants to live freely and not be constrained by anything. The poem has a part where it talks about being able to have excitement and have new experiences in their life, instead of everything just being there with no chance of change. On lines one to three, the author also writes, "Let them be flowers, always watered, fed, guarded, admired, but harnessed to a pot of dirt." The phrase "harnessed to a pot of dirt" means that in some way the "flowers", or the people who are loved and admired, can't do things they want to without being held back.
