The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional basketball team that is located in Los Angeles, California. They play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Los Angeles Lakers is 16-time NBA champion team with their last champion win in 2010. I chose the Los Angeles Lakers Team because they are one of my favorite teams in the NBA, even though they did not make the playoffs this year. While growing up and still today, if the Lakers are playing, the television is always on for everyone in my family to watch. My 92-year-old grandma especially would always and still watch the Lakers play and pray for them if they are losing against the other team. Some marketing topics I will cover in my paper are the Lakers promotions strategy, stadium factors, and their recognition and interaction with fans.
1. Promotions Strategy
The Lakers have many different promotion strategies to keep fans coming back for their games and to keep consumers promoting and supporting the team. According to Sports Marketing Quarterly, “NBA teams use a variety of marketing techniques to try to increase game attendance” (Turner, 140). Promotion strategies are important to the Lakers’ marketing efforts because it brings more and more people to attend the games since they receive something free or win a prize for participating in a raffle or contest. Also, when the Lakers make it to the playoffs and/or the finals, they give each audience member a free shirt to wear during the games for attending and to support the team while they play. So on television, everyone will be wearing the same shirt and the fans on the opposite side of the basket receive thunder sticks to distract the other team from making a shot. Having...

Ron Artest brought the community together and also helped out the company by bringing in more customers for their grand opening. Another event where the Lakers participated in with fans is having a graffiti clean up during green week. The Lakers helped painted the walls in the city where graffiti was shown. Another fan interaction the Lakers contributed with was Habitat for Humanity. They all got together to help build homes for the people in need living in Lynwood, California. Having a professional player or players attend special events help build strong relationships with fans. The public will know that professional athletes are not only champions in the court, but also champions in the community to all their fans that support and look up to them.
