The Lego Batman Movie V.S. Elf
The Lego Batman Movie came out early 2017 and was marketed as an action animation film directed by Chris Mckay, while Elf was released late 2003 marketed as a Christmas comedy and directed by Jon Favreau.The Lego Batman Movie is funnier than The Elf movie because it uses pathos, empathy, and dramatic irony; more effectively to make the movie more comedic.
The Lego Batman Movie is a more comedic way to tell the Batman story using lego animation instead of live action. In this version of the movie, Batman is more playful and less serious to make the movie more kid-friendly, but the director uses Batman's serious nature in a more joking way to target a wider audience.After the death of Bruce Wayne (Batman) parents,
So growing up Batman developed an “I work alone” personality and started to fight crime. Later in life, he struggled with letting people into his life and expression his emotions. After adopting an orphan son Richard (Dick) and training him to fight crime he became more attached and started to open up even developing a crush on a coworker Barbara Gordon and developing a crime-fighting family. But out of fear of losing them like he did with his parents in the past he sends them away when he needs them the most, during the big fight scene with his arch nemesis so that his family would not get hurt. After Batman realizes that he cannot win by himself he then apologizes to his crime-fighting family. The family makes up and unites with the other villains in a “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” mindset to Save Gotham City.
It is even clear to the audience that because of his sheer size he is comedically out of place around the other Elves. In the Lego Batman Movie the audience is aware that Bruce Wayne and Batman are the same people but people like Dick think that they are different People so much so that Dick tells Batman that he has to ask Bruce for permission to leave and go fight crime, but because Batman does not trust Dick Batman tells Dick that he and Bruce share custody so he did not need to ask Bruce for permission. Even the Joker thinks that Batman and Bruce Wayne and roommates because the Batcave is under Wayne
