1. Introduction Oktoberfest is the world's largest public event held yearly in Munich, Germany. It is a 16 to 18 days festival running from late September to the first weekend in October. The history of the festival dates for more than 200 years, as the first manifestation is associated with the 19 century. The event strongly supports the financial budget of Munich, producing approximately 955 million Euros. Annually, 6 million people from all around the world attend the festival, drinking more than 6 million liters of beer. During the Oktoberfest 8,000 persons are employed and further 4,000 persons find casual employment. Such a large scale event caught my attention. Despite the financial crisis, Oktoberfest is not affected. The number of participants increases from year to year, becoming more and more international. For a better understanding of the organization, positivism theories will lead to the normative result. Further, the theoretical analysis of Oktoberfest, Munich has been chosen in concordance with the topic: “Challenges facing mangers in 2015” .The event has been proved being successful and economically stable . Even so, managers must take into account the changes that will come to influence the business and maybe reconsider the conditions. 1.1. Problem statement As is mentioned before, such a festival has different impacts over the host city but the focus area in this project will be the financial impact. It is the aim of this research to observe how the festival influences the economy of Munich in order to gain more revenue based on past experience. In order to answer to the problem statement, the following questions were identified: RQ1: Is the beer consumption proportional with the number of event p... ... middle of paper ... ...loaded on 05.11.2013 Kevin Sheehan -'Hospitality 2015: Gamers or spectators?’ retrieved from http://www.slideshare.net/rutgersmits/deloitte-hospitality-2015-game-changers-or-spectators, downloaded on 01.10.2013 Economic indicators in more than 232 countries, retrieved from http://www.tradingeconomics.com/germany/gdp-growth, accessed on 07.10.2013 Oktoberfest data, retrieved from http://www.oktoberfestlederhosen.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Oktoberfest_free-report.pdf, downloaded on 07.10.2013 Economic insight and analysis from The Wall Street Journal, retrieved from http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2011/09/15/the-economics-of-oktoberfest/, accessed on 07.10.2013 Oktoberfest official website, retrieved from www.oktoberfestportal.de, accessed on 07.10.2013 Munich Tourist Office. In this essay I will consider to what extent the German economy has been central to change regarding the development of Germany over the whole period, 1890-1991. I will consider the German economy under the Kaiser in accordance with World War 1, during Hyperinflation under the Weimar Republic in 1923, in Nazi Germany under Hitler and in East and West Germany leading to the building of the Berlin Wall. It appears that the German economy to a large degree has been exceedingly central to change in the country over this entire period. It is evident though that the economy itself has not solely been the derivation of precise events over the course of the period. There have been other ideas and proceedings that must be taken into consideration and I aim to assess the prominence of these notions in opposition to the German economy. These include the radical ideas of the Kaiser and Hitler leading to the occurrence of World War 1 and 2, the ‘Stab in the back’ theory strengthening support for radical parties and anti-fascist ideals prompting the construction of the Berlin Wall.

From 2001 2002 there was a 23% increase in the construction of sports stadiums and arenas with costs of those facilities upwards of $7.8 billion. The growing global sport industry requires that sport facility and event management keep current of new and proven management techniques. Sport Facility Management: Organizing Events and Mitigating Risks by Ammon, Jr., Southall, and Blair, provides readers with a basic introduction to elements of facility management for the full range of sporting and entertainment events. There is a high demand for individuals who are educated and trained in facility management, event organization, and risk management and since the September 11 attacks there has been a great emphasis placed on facility and risk management. Each chapter provides theoretical foundations and practical applications for each critical phase of facility management. The authors provided photographs, case studies, and industry examples to assist the reader in gaining an overall basic, picture of the sporting event and entertainment industry today. The book provides in-depth discussions about positive advances that have made the entire experience easier and more comfortable for fans; and about the negative economic and cultural consequences for sport events after September 11 2001.
The United States of America has a population of 260 million people. This is a big market with substantial purchasing power. As of 1997, Breckenridge Brewery has only expanded eastwards and the west side of the country is relatively untouched. According to Exhibit 2 in the case study, there were only distributors in 32 states and that leaves a potential to sell to the other 19 states as w...

It is the economic effects of tourism which bring the most benefit to the host nation. Tourism is a low import user which means more of the money earned here stays here. The government is earning money through tourist taxes such as the airport tax, increased export earnings and income tax revenue from people employed by the industry. A balance must be struck between these benefits and associated negative impacts on the community and the environment.
Global events benefit regional, tourism and community development. Take for instance the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. They both are events held globally that increase visitor’s expenditure and length of stay while improving destination awareness and increasing civic pride. Janecko, Mules and Ritchie (2002) explain events in small regional destinations are obviously beneficial and often play an important role in tourism development and thereby in regional development however, differ due to size and scale of the event. Global events create employment and increase labour supply, expenditures and even the standard of living. ‘As local economics have adapted to changing to global dynamics, the hosting of international events has become more commonplace and can play a significant role in local development, acting as a catalysts for jo...
The Olympian games were founded in 776 BC. The Greek people used athletic victory as an outlet for their aggression. In a country filled with civil war this was a way to bind the nation together.
When I was a child, Oktoberfest was a yearly celebrated tradition in my household. My grandmother was from Munich, Germany where Oktoberfest originally started, and to her it was an important part of her heritage that she wanted to pass on and celebrate. Every year from the middle of September till the beginning of October, my family would celebrate within the community and within our home. During this time of celebration, I would help my grandmother cook, bake and decorate. Traditional German dishes were a typical staple food year-round, however, during Oktoberfest, only German food was served. Such dishes included Sauerkraut, Schweinebraten, Dumplings, Brezen, and, of course, lots of beer.
Tourism's economic benefits are advertised by the industry for a sum of reasons. The idea of tourism's economic significance gives the industry a much greater respect among the business municipal, public officials, and the public in general. This often translates into decisions to tourism.
