Unbelievable Plot
‘I’ll Give You the Sun’ is a book about two twins and their teenage lives at ages thirteen, fourteen and sixteen, told in both of their perspectives, one is in the perspective of the twin boy, Noah, on the events that occurs in their early years, and the other is in the perspective of the twin girl, Jude, who tells the tales of their later years. This book explores love in many different ways. ‘I’ll Give You the Sun’ explores love between family and lovers, and the conflict that occurs with love. There are many things that make me I believe that the book, ‘I’ll Give You the Sun’ by Jandy Nelson has an unbelievable plot. For me, I believe that there are people who see ghosts exist, but they should be able to see other ghosts as well, in which Jude is unable to do, as she can only see her dead grandmother and signs of her dead mother. The author only writes about how Jude and her grandmother communicate and talk to each other, and how Jude is able to feels signs of her mother’s so called ‘hatred’ towards Jude. Though this, the author does not completely explain the idea of Jude completely being able to see ghosts. Throughout Jude’s story in this book, her grandmother plays a very important role of helping and guiding Jude through her problems, making it seem supernatural for Jude to be able to work her way through her struggles by listening to her dead grandmother’s suggestions. In the chapters of Jude’s perspective, she feels that her dead mother is breaking her artworks because of the hatred that she has for her daughter. This, I think is unbelievable as ghosts would not break objects and that Jude’s dead mother does not hold a grudge for Jude, meaning that it would not make sense for all of Jude’s artwork to break because even if there was ghosts, her mother is not so angry that she would destroy her own daughter’s
