During a wrestling match, you are using all of your previous knowledge of the moves you have been practicing over and over. On top of that you need to have the mental mind set that you are gonna win. You may think it is easy because it's only a six minute match, but all the blood, sweat and tears that us wrestlers put in for those six minutes, may be the happiest or saddest experience of our life. We spend hours a day working with our coaches to make sure our technique is close to perfection as it can get. Most likely, you will win or lose a match on how well conditioned you are. We will usually wrestle a twelve minute match in practice, so that six minute match feels like nothing. Even with the time and effort you put in this sport, they will always be someone who might be just a little better.
One might compare this to the grueling, tiresome and back-breaking efforts of writing a good essay. Many of us have been writing essays for a long time now. Some of them are A papers, and well some them not as good as we thought they were. Throughout the years, teachers have shown us the proper technique and several examples of papers,

to try to get our essays the best they possibly can be. You may spend countless hours writing and reading it to make sure everything is perfect. Several of your peers or teachers may try to help by making any corrections that will make your essay better. When you have done everything you possibly can to make this essay the way you want it, all you can do is turn it in and pray for the best. Even with the time and effort you put in this essay, there is a good chance someone in the class will get a better grade. Now you're probably thinking; wrestling and writing a essay, could these two possibly have any direct correlation with each other?
You are probably saying no. These two best relate on the time factor. Both take hours of preparation, even when you want to quit you know you need to keep going. Now in those hours you need to be mentally focus, to be giving the best effort you possibly can. Both have people to support you the whole ride threw. Whether it's a coach pushing you past your limits, or a teacher giving you a twenty minute lecture on where to put your commas. They both want you to reach your full potential and give every ounce of effort you got. When you let yourself not give full effort, you incline to let yourself to have more errors. When all of your errors start to add up they turn to awful result; losing your match, or a F

In English 1102, I was exposed to a variety of different genres, including, argumentative research paper, an annotated bibliography, an analytical paper, and a workplace specific piece. Entering this class the majority of papers I had written were all analytical, and in this class we went above and beyond the basic 5 paragraph essay. Though each paper had a different genre and style, I learned that each project was similar in composition.
Both of the articles “Dancing with Professors” by Patricia Limerick and “Shitty First Drafts” by Anne Lamott resolve the issues faced by college students when writing papers. The first article, “Dancing with Professors,” explains why college professors expect more elaborate papers even though they assign dull and un-motivational reading to their students. On the other end of the writing spectrum, “Shitty First Drafts” explains how valuable the first draft is to students, and why students should not feel weary about writing them.
As I look back into my high school years, I thought I wrote papers well. But then coming into a college environment, my papers were mediocre. By overlooking at my past papers, I found that they were unorganized, sloppy and had bad use of diction. From now on, I will use the tools I learned in English 1100-40 as a foundation for the future papers I intend on writing in college. Following the criteria of organizing ideas so that they flow, impacting the reader with diction and also by being creative, will help become an ideal writer. Following the criteria of staying motivated in short and long term goals, taking responsibility for actions and finally the ability to study well will help me develop into a supreme student.
We would do research on a subject or a person, and write about them. We, once again, were not allowed to be unique in our writing or think creatively or critically. This is the time when I was taught the five paragraph essay. As stated in Gray’s article, the five paragraph essay is detrimental to students’ writing. This format for writing is damaging because it doesn’t allow students to express their own ideas about a topic. It does not allow for any creativity or uniqueness in a paper. In tenth grade, I wrote many papers for my English class, but I never once got an A on them. I was led to believe that my writing was weak because I could not relate to what I was writing about. I did not have any emotional connection to the research papers I had to write, and it made it harder for me to write them. I had grown up not being allowed to think critically, and therefore, my papers in high school lacked creativity and deeper
When someone thinks of the sport of ice hockey, one of the first things they think of is the fact that fighting is a common occurrence in it. It is almost a guarantee that if you ask someone who is not an avid fan of the sport what their favorite element is, they will say something about the fights. A commonly heard and repeated quote is “I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out.” However, over the past few years the question of whether or not this component should still be allowed in the game has been a cause for argument and controversy. There are suggested pros and cons for what impact banning fighting from the sport of hockey might have, but for now nothing has been done to change the rules and regulations. The question to look at is, how has fighting in hockey evolved throughout history to get us where we are today, and should it remain in the game because of its history? Or should it be banned because of its history?
Being able to write an exceptionally good paper is important to me in keeping my “A” for English class. There are so many resources available that can help in identifying and improving our weakest skill areas so we can write a properly structured paper. I was able to find many helpful resources that have helped to improve my skill areas in achieving unity in a paper, improving grammatical errors and expanding my vocabulary, and writing a rhetorical analysis,. Many of my resources come from the internet and some came from our textbook, “The Little Seagull.” These resources have been very beneficial to me and have helped me to better understand the mechanics of a well written paper.
Wrestling is a sport in which two contestants try to force each other's shoulders to the floor, thus scoring a pin and winning the match. Points are awarded for various holds and techniques during the bout, and if neither wrestler can pin the other within the time limit, the competitor with the most points ...
Children are often addicted watching Televisions shows from early age. While watching TVs shows children often learns so many things. Things children learn off the TV shows depends on what kind of shows they are watching. Some TV show presents things that children shouldn’t allowed to watch by their guardians. One TV show that guardians of children should forbid them to watch is WWE wrestling. Children under twelve years old shouldn’t be allowed to watch wrestling WWE because watching endless hours of wrestling makes children imitate the dangerous action in real life, use of profane languages, and use of inappropriate gestures.
As I sit here with my eyes closed, I imagine a tropical breeze. The warm wet air slides over my face. The humidity seems almost heavy enough to crush me. As I take a deep breath, the realization that this is no tropical air comes crashing in. Instead of the refreshing scent of the ocean, or tropical plants, the taste of salt from sweat and a smell of the human body fill my lungs. The daydream is over. A shrill whistle sounds and the voice of coach Chuck booms through out the room, breaking the peace that was comforting the pain in my shoulder and bringing me back to reality. I was not on some humid island paradise, but rather in the explosive atmosphere of the Hotchkiss High School wrestling room.
“The never-ending task of self-improvement.” These words by Ralph Waldo Emerson perfectly articulate the message written by Admiral Richardson and Lieutenant O’Keefe in their article called, “Now Hear This – Read. Write. Fight.” In the following paragraphs, I will analyze this article using the four standards of effective writing: Substance, Organization, Style, and Correctness (SOSC). Furthermore, I will provide evidence to why this exceptionally written piece supports the critical elements of constructing a paper. Lastly, I will address the analysis of the main points to further persuade the reader that my stance is clear, accurate, relevant, and logical.
I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the “Common Sense” textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. Through the exploration of the “Subjects and Strategies” textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past semester, I have encountered many difficulties when trying to write these essays, but through the use of the textbooks, the aide of the instructor, and once I was able to classify the different types of essays and styles, I found them possible to overcome.
I am known as one of the best wrestlers to ever walk the face of the earth. I am recognized as one of the top coaches in the 20th century by ESPN. People refer to me as “the goat”. I am Dan Gable. As a kid, I enjoyed wrestling, but I was also very involved in other sports, too.
Two years ago, I was in the Bowie wrestling team at Bowie High School. It was the end of the day and I head to the gym for practice. This day was the last practice for the Bowie Tournament, where wrestlers from different high schools of El Paso and Las Cruces come to our school to wrestle, place, and have maybe have a chance in State, which takes up to two or three days. I was so hype and honor to wrestle in this tournament, so I will practice hard as I can for this tournament.
Writing is an excellent practice because the benefits gained are essential to an individual’s success in a job, or just conveying their ideas through words. Within the semester we have written three major papers, and have rewritten two of those papers. In each paper I discovered new ways to get information, and have gained more experience in sculpting a paper. Obtaining this new knowledge of how to present my ideas in different writing styles will help me expand my range in how I can write, and essentially allow me to be better prepared for upcoming jobs following my college education. I can safely say that with the papers from this semester and their mistakes that dealt with minor grammar errors, awkward sentence structures, and oversimplifying
