The internet can be a dangerous and treacherous place. Even though that is true, it can also be a very helpful resource and a great place to share your creativity with the world. You can share your ideas with people halfway across the world, collaborate with a friend that lives in a different country, and write a song with a family member in England. This access to the world and information of all kinds leads us to adventures, fun and scary (https://www.google.com/).
Think of the internet as a really big Walmart, about the size of New York. Information about cute bunnies are to the left about an 1 hour away and gaming videos are about 30 minutes upstate. The world wide web is a big place but its a good thing we have at least one way of organizing each and every little thing that gets on it. Search engines are a way of collecting information from all over the world that has been submitted into the wild jungle of the interwebs at one point in time. The ultimate book is in our hands. We all used it to make our presentation and to check our Facebook notifications. Google, one of the most well known search engines in the world, helps us each day. The thing is, it was all started by a couple of college students (https://www.google.com/).
1995, Larry Page, a 22 year old U Michigan graduate, meets Sergey, 21, who is assigned to show him around Stanford. Later that next year Larry and Sergey began to work on a search engine, also known as BackRub. BackRub ran on the Stanford servers for a little over a year eventually resulting in taking up to much bandwidth. Google.com finallly came up in 1997 on September th 15th. The name was a play on words ““googol”, a mathematical term for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zero...

This amazing thing that we have been given has been stretched to the very extent of creation. From help to harm, the internet is the most advanced machine that clicks and clacks each and every second you read this report. It is bigger than the biggest book anyone can ever imagine because its growing faster than anything can grow. Its becoming a labyrinth that even Daedalus couldn’t control. The internet is becoming a massive part of our lives, and there is nothing stopping it (http://www.elon.edu/).
With an entity as vast as the Internet, it is not surprising that a variety of unanswered questions will arise. I’m positive that the Internet will continue to confound scholars as it continues to quickly evolve. By analyzing the views of the celebrants and skeptics, I have been able to understand the potential that the internet has. By using the PEC, I have been able to understand how democracy and capitalism relate to the issues of the Internet. In the future, I hope that society can develop a further understanding of the Internet and move toward the Internet that the celebrants had hoped for.
Many believe the internet was an over night sensation, that one day, someone invented the internet and it spread in popularity faster than Tickle Me Elmo or the Macarena. Although the internet did have a surge of commercial popularity, with the invention of Mosaic and later with e-commerce, it was created many years ago with the development of military networking technologies. Also, the internet, unlike many pop culture fads of the nineties, will continue to see a growth in popularity and usefulness as a form of media throughout the information age. Sure, the internet became overambitious to the point where many internet start-up companies lost their businesses in the recession of the past few years. The quality of the internet, however, has increased as companies realize that there exists competition and smarter consumers that demand superiority. The internet has taken the world so far in its short commercial life; the future of the internet provides limitless possibilities of a much different future.
Over the years, technology has thrived and became very popular. One of the most used technologies over the time is the Internet. Although, it is very popular many have noticed the effects that it has on our mind and the way we process new information. It’s a struggle to even deeply read an article that is more than a few pages for many that once was so very easy. Nicholas Carr is one of the many people that have noticed what the Internet is doing to us!
Says Sandra Kelly, market researcher, 3M Corporation. “I would guess that smart people will use the Internet for smart things and stupid people will use it for stupid things in the same way that smart people read literature and stupid people read crap fiction.” She further states. Google is the gateway to a multitude of new ideas and approaches. Failure to use Google in an applicable, sensible, way, will, in fact, be a waste of time and make you stupid.

Google started as a grad school project for Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They were both attending Stanford University. Google was incorporated in 1998. The founders made an epic decision in hiring Eric Schmidt as
Search engines, specifically Google, have probably contributed more to the distribution of knowledge than any other invention since the creation of the printing press. Google was created by Larry Page and Serge...
From friendship to business partnerships, young Larry Page, 22, and Sergey Brin, 21, met in 1995 at Stanford University. The two young men had been working together on a search engine known as “BackRub” which ran on Standard University’s servers for over a year. The problem with the BackRub was it was taking up too much bandwidth space (amount of data that is carried from one point to another). Therefore, Page and Brin decided to come up with a solution by creating a new search engine. In 1997, “Google.com” was registered and the name originated from the word “googol”. The word “googol” is mathematical terminology that represented the number one followed by 100 zeroes. Page and Brin planned on organizing unlimited amounts of information on the internet (Google, 2014). In the fall of 1998, Google filed incorporation in the state of California in which Page and Sergey opened a bank in the company’s name. Google’s first two investors were Andy Bechtolsheim and David Cheriton, and they each invested $100,000 in September 1998. Andy Bechtolsheim was the first investor to write a check to "Google Inc." before Google Inc. was founded (Google, 2014).
First of all, where does the word “Google” come from? The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of "googol,” which refers to 10100, the number represented by a 1 followed by one hundred zeros. It found its way to the English language, now the verb "Google", was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2006, meaning, "to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet." Their search engine was originally nicknamed "BackRub" because the system checked back links to estimate a site's importance. /// The start of Google was pretty much like the start of every website. It was a research project to these two Ph.D. Students where they hypothesized that a search engine that analyzed the relationships between websites would produce better ranking of results than existing techniques, which ranked results according to the number of times the search term appeared on a page. It was first related to the university’s domain, but then the traffic was so heavy that the university asked them to move their website to a domain outside the university. What made Google this popular was the speed it pulls out information, which is counted in parts of seconds. And also, the size of their data base, according to the instructor of our instructor in MIS class only 60% of data you found on Google are in other web search engines.
The Internet has become a major tool for communication and access to information for over two and half billion people (Wright 121). Although Internet has become an unavoidable reality that is consuming our planet in a web of information. This process is being shaped by our actions and choices which ultimately drives us together (Deibert 11). Nowadays China has over 538 million netizens, the world’s largest online community (Feng & Guo 335).
The internet has come along way since its birth back in 1969, from its start as a government network to the everyday life; it has proven to be one of the greatest inventions ever discovered. It has helped many people with an array of task ranging from everyday government usage, and personal web pages to the ever so expanding horizons of technology still being produced today. Between the good and the bad, the internet has improved the way of life, and will continue to improve throughout time.
Days, months, and years go by and we do not notice them. Living in such a busy world, we are not always aware of the changes in our lives. Twenty years ago, if someone was told we would be able to buy groceries, pay our bills, buy stocks or even a car through the use of a computer, we might have laughed and blamed too much science fiction television for such wild accusations. However, as the next generation of children grows up, they may find it funny that people still send letters to each other through the post office. The development of the Internet has given us the ability to communicate and exchange information instantly across vast distances. The Internet has caused a huge impact in the communication field, and has made our way of living and working a lot easier, faster, and cheaper than before.
The Internet is one of the greatest inventions of humanity. It is a massive network of computers, each with the ability to access any of the others. Ungodly amounts of information can be found on the Internet. It is the ultimate form of media, a combination of newspaper, radio, and as the average bandwidth is increasing, television. Using
The internet has influenced, and is still influencing the way society communicates in many different ways. The rise of the internet has caused people to communicate differently in areas never dreamed of before the internet came into existence. Education has been revolutionized through the world of the “Information Super Highway”. Medicine has also seen reform as the internet improves research and communication. Individuals are starting businesses from scratch, while others are selling household items for extra cash. This internet “typhoon” sweeping the globe has become a way of life for many individuals all across the globe.
In our society, there has been a revolution which competes with that of the industrial revolution. It is called the technological revolution. At the top of the technological revolution is what we call, the Internet. In the following report we will be discussing what the internet is about in general and how it might be in the future, why it is necessary in our everyday lives, and why it has become so important to everyone. companies, individuals ).
