History of mankind is a mess. When you learn more about it, you will realize how lucky we are to live here in this era. When I say history, I am talking about the war and the human thirst of conquering the other's land. Humans were never happy with what they have. Those who were in power wanted to make their borders bigger and extend their power to larger areas. War between countries will be always there; it doesn't matter which span you live. However, how the war changes people's life does might differ from one era to another. Now a day's, humans have equipped with weapons that could erase the entire mankind forever. It all depends on who use the weapon and how safe, they handle the weapon. It has been like that always. One person's action could defame the entire …show more content…
Amritsar massacre, also known as The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, is a perfect example of that. Even though British army Colonel Reginald Dyer executed the massacre in 1919, it is still hunting the entire British nation like a nightmare. So what is the Amritsar massacre? Why are people still talking about it? Why are people blaming one's action to decry the entire nation? I believe I am suitable to discuss this because I grew up in India and now I reside in America. Since I am away from India, I am able view another side of the same story also. I am a firm believer of this-'There are two sides to every story, yet people end up to listen to one side and believe it to be the truth'. In addition to that, history could forge by those who write it and how they want people to see the history. I think the Amritsar massacre history has been forged by the local Indian historians to grow Indian hates towards British. Those historians only wanted Indians to see what happened or how bad the massacre was to the Indians not why did that happened. Massacre is a massacre; just to be cleared I am not alleviating the massacre here. Only objection I have here is, you can't just say this is what happened
On the night of March 5th, it is believed that a small group of boys began taunting a British soldier. Over the boys’ nonsense, the soldier battered one of his oppressors with his musket. Soon after the alleged incident a crowd of about fifty or sixty people surrounded the frightened solider. The enraged crowd of people sounded the soldier, encouraging him to call for backup. Soon after calling for help, seven soldiers along with Captain Preston...
Twenty lives were lost, including two of the striker’s wives and eleven children, but only one of these lives belonged to the National Guard. With this in mind, it can be debated whether or not this event should be considered a battle or a massacre. Some have argued that, because of the striker’s retaliation, the event should be considered a battle, but because of previous abuse and the guard’s disregard for who they were firing at it and careless destruction, it should be considered a massacre.
The 1986 during the Vietnam war, the slaughter at My Lai Massacre “is an instance of a class of violent acts that can be described as sanctioned massacres (Kelman, 1973): acts of indiscriminate, ruthless, and often systematic mass violence, carried out by military or paramilitary personnel while engaged in officially
The sign read “GREETINGS Peoples Temple Agricultural Project” It was white with black text, hanging at the entrance to Jonestown, the infamous location of the mass suicide of over 900 people, orchestrated by Jim Jones, their leader, father, and god. There is a lot of gray area when it comes to Jonestown, was it as it seems; A cult that ended tragically, or could it have been more? A CIA brainwashing experiment, or a way to smuggle Heroin into the the United States? Was the assassination of congressman Leo Ryan done by the Peoples Temple or by the CIA? Hopefuly this will shed some light on fact and fiction, and what I believe is the truth of the Jonestown massacre.
Genocide is the act of killing a lot of people depending on their race, ethnicity, and religion. There are 8 stages of genocide which include extermination and denial. The victims of the Bosnian genocide consists of elders, women, men, children, and even babies. The Bosnian genocide is a war between Bosnian Serbians and Bosnian Muslim to which republic can control Bosnia. Fort pillow massacre was one of the most controversial battles of the civil war. This battle was a gateway to the eventual fair treatment towards blacks. Although it was a controversial battle it helped unify the country by the end of the war. This massacre gave federalists more of a reason to fight and also gave confederates more reason to defend themselves.
The worst mass murder suicide in history was the Jonestown Massacre. The Jonestown Massacre happened on November 18th 1978.More then 900 people were killed in the Massacre, 232 of which were children. The Massacre happened on a piece of land in Guyana that the People’s Temple, run by James Jones, had bought. The People’s Temple was a church run by James Jones who preached about diversity and racism. James was not a real preacher, all of his speeches were based on his opinions and theories of the world. He pretended to be a doctor. People would give him money and he would pretend to heal them. He founded his church in 1965. After getting bad press about his speeches, he took his followers and moved them all out to Guyana, telling them they were going to live in a more communal way. Jones’s followers gave him money supposedly for the church, all the working adults gave at least 25% of their paycheck to him and everyone getting social security checks gave their checks to him. The people of Jonestown raised animals and farmed in the middle of the Guyana Jungle, as their new way of life.
Two decades ago a strange series of events ended in the deaths of more than 900 people in the middle of a South American jungle. Though thought of as a "massacre," what occurred at Jonestown on November 18, 1978, was to some extent done willingly. This made the mass suicide more disturbing. The Jonestown cult which was officially named “The People's Temple" was founded by a reverend named James Warren Jones, also known as Jim Jones, from Indianapolis in 1955. Jones, who didn’t have medical training, based his liberal ministry as a combination of religious and socialist viewpoints.
The Boston Massacre was one the most controversial massacre in American history that teased the coming of the American Revolution. People were taunting a British soldier who was standing “in front of the Boston Custom House” who got very frustrated to the point where he hit somebody. The soldier got overwhelmed by people who came after he hit one of them, called help from his fellow soldiers. When Captain Preston and his soldiers arrived at the scene, people were coming from everywhere, some were trying to fight them and some were just there to watch. Then, one of the soldier shot at the people and his fellow soldiers started shooting after, which killed five people. This what ended it up being called the Boston Massacre. Some might say that the murderer were the soldiers who shot the people, but the real murderer is
The Boston Massacre was an event that only strengthened colonial America’s hatred toward the British nation. People could answer the question of whether or no the Boston Massacre was truly a massacre differently. In my mind, yes, it was a massacre, I believe this because in the dictionary it states that a massacre is, “The unnecessary, and indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings or animals.” I would have to say five people is a large number of human beings to kill in one sitting.
Imagine being in a crowd, where people are throwing rocks and screaming. Then you hear gunshots, and everything stays still, there it is the Boston Massacre. On March 5th, 1770, the Bloody Massacre also known as the Boston Massacre occurred killing five colonists. From the events that lead up to the Boston Massacre, to the actual event occurring, and what happened after is how it all came about.
The Boston Massacre was an extremely influential event in U.S. History. It changed the complexion of our nation forever. No one was ever able to give an accurate description of what took place that night, but one thing that you can be sure of is the fact that America may have waited many years before revolting against Great Britain. The Boston Massacre should not only be remembered for the death of the five men, but also for the conflicts that brought on the shooting and for the events that it set off. The massacre was a culmination of tensions between the English and the Americans. The Boston Massacre set a fire under the colonists and drove them to freedom.
On a chilly February morning in 1929, Chicago’s North Side bore witness to a gruesome event that would forever stain its history—the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. Inside the S.M.C. At the Cartage Company garage at 2122 North Clark Street, seven men connected to George "Bugs" Moran's bootlegging operation were awaiting a meeting to purchase a Canadian whiskey shipment that had been taken advantage of at a favorable price. However, four guys—two dressed in police uniforms—arrived in a patrol vehicle, went inside the garage, and gave Moran's men the order to stand shoulder-to-shoulder against one of the walls. They thought they were the target of a police raid, so they did not resist and were brutally gunned down (“The St. Valentine’s”).
For this project, I decided to write a short story about the 1921 Tulsa Massacre because I wanted to spend the time learning more about it since it’s considered one of the deadliest and worst acts of racial violence in the history of the United States. I chose to write a short story giving a fictionalized account of the event because it challenged me to put myself in their shoes and understand the experiences that the Black people of Tulsa endured. Writing a story about a great tragedy such as this presents some important challenges and things I need to keep in mind. I needed to make sure that I didn’t sensationalize the events and maintained a strong sense of authenticity and respect, otherwise I would be doing a disservice to the people who
