Amish
The name of the ethnic group I am researching on is the Amish. The Amish is located all around the world. It was recorded that in 2010 there was 28 states of the United States that had Amish population. The estimated population of Amish people is 308,030 last checked was May 2016. Ohio currently has the highest population of 63,990 and following Pennsylvania has 63,785.
Clothing Amish people don’t dress like most people do. They dress very bland and meek. The colors they typically wear are black, blue, burgundy, brown, purple, or a dark green. Most Amish boys wear dark colored suits, suspenders, and overalls. Amish girls believe that they only need four dresses. There dress colors include
There are many different cultures throughout the world. They each have their own distinct customs and beliefs relating to marriage, rites of passage, conflict resolutions, education etc... The most interesting aspect of each culture is how they incorporate their religious beliefs into the healthcare they receive. Some cultures are not affected by their religious beliefs when dealing with healthcare. They are not regulated in the terms of medical procedures and practices they can obtain from healthcare professionals. However, this is not true for every culture in this world. The Amish and Mennonite culture is depicted upon separating themselves from this world and living a plain life. These two cultures are heavily rooted in their religious beliefs and have tendencies not to stray away from those beliefs regardless of the possible benefits of modern technology. Amish and Mennonite culture may share some similarities, but they have some differences also. A culture’s religious beliefs will be the main determining factor in the healthcare they choose.
Watching the Amish riding their horse drawn carriages through Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, you catch a glimpse of how life would have been 150 years ago. The Amish, without their electricity, cars, and television appear to be a static culture, never changing. This, however, is just an illusion. In fact, the Amish are a dynamic culture which is, through market forces and other means, continually interacting with the enormously tempting culture of America. So, one might be led to wonder how a culture like the Amish, one that seems so anachronistic, has not only survived but has grown and flourished while surrounded by a culture that would seem to be so detrimental to its basic ideals. The Amish, through biological reproduction, resistance to outside culture, compromise, and a strong ethnic symbolism have managed to stave off a culture that waits to engulf them. Why study the Amish? One answer would be, of course, to learn about their seemingly pure cooperative society and value system (called Ordung). From this, one may hope to learn how to better America's problem of individualism and lack of moral or ethical beliefs. However, there is another reason to study the Amish. Because the Amish have remained such a large and distinct culture from our own, they provide an opportunity to study the effects of cultural transmission, resistance, and change, as well as the results of strong symbolism in maintaining ethnic and cultural isolation.
The Hispanic population has experienced an incredible growth in the past decade in the United States of America. In 2006 it was estimated that the Hispanic cover 11 % of the population in North America. Their Origin is in Mexico and the few Spanish speaking countries in the Caribbean. American culture is derived from people who originated from the European nations like Italy and the Great Britain. Cultural identity is very important for every ethnic group as it shapes the culture of that particular faction and therefore, a certain culture cannot realize its own values until it is exposed to another one.

Both the Amish and the Mennonites were part of the early Anabaptist movement in Europe, which took place at the time of the Reformation. The Anabaptists believed that only adults who had confessed their faith should be baptized, and that they should remain separate from the larger society. Many of the early Anabaptists were put to death by both Catholics and Protestants, and many others fled to the mountains of Switzerland and southern Germany. Then began the Amish tradition of farming and holding their worship services in homes instead of in churches. In 1536, a young Catholic priest from Holland, Menno Simons, joined the Anabaptist groups, who were nicknamed Mennonites. In 1693, a Swiss bishop named Jacob Amman broke off from the Mennonite church. His followers were called the Amish. Although the two groups have split several times, the Amish and Mennonite churches still share the same beliefs concerning baptism, non-resistance, and the Bible. They differ in matters of dress, technology, language, form of worship, and interpretation of the Bible. The Amish and Mennonites both settled in Pennsylvania as part of William Penn's holy experiment of religious tolerance. The first sizeable group of Amish arrived in Lancaster County in the 1720s or 1730s. Since the early colonial days the Amish have lived in the United States preserving their distinctive culture, dress, language and religion in peace and prosperity.

In approaching this topic, I first realized that I need to look up some general information about Native Americans in the United States. According to the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), there are approximately 564 federally recognized tribes in the United States today (Who we are, n.d). This group does not include tribes that do not have federal recognition but are recognized at the state level.
All students should take notice and interest in cultural diversity. There are numerous different cultures in America. One in particular is the Amish culture, which I would like to familiarize you with.
The clothing also represents the breakdown of the society. To begin, most of the boys were wearing school uniforms and some were wearing choir robes. This shows they are educated, civilized young men, who are most likely from, or around the city. As time passes, the boys do not remain fully clad. They shed their shoes and shirts. Their hair grows longer, and they are dirtier. This resembles their civilized ways beginning to fade. They also started using face paint for camouflage, and it eventually becomes a ritual.
In 2010, sixteen percent or 50.5 million people of the United States were Hispanic. But in 2000 there were only 35.3 million Hispanics in the United States so that’s a 15.2 million increase from 2000 to 2010. The Hispanic population grew by forty three percent in ten years. At this rate, I think the Hispanic population will be the main ethnic group of the United States.
...e immigration population in the U.S grew considerably over the past so years. In 2011 there were 40.4 million foreign born people residing in the U.S where as the immigrant population in the 1960 was 9.7 million. Broken down by immigration status the foreign born population in 2011 was composed of 15.5 million naturalized us citizens, 13.1 million legal permanent residents and 11.1 million unauthorized migrants. According to new status from the U.S government 1600 more Chinese immigrants came into the us in 2011. More than 1.06 million immigrants in 2011, out of which 87,000 were Chinese. In 2011 Chinese immigrants accounted for 8.2 percent of the total number of the immigrants to the us. When Chinese came to America because of everything going on in china the population in the United States sky rocketed. Chinese is a very large group of people in the United States.
In the United States, “ethnics” came to be used at around Second World War as a polite way of referring to the Jews, Italian, Irish, and other people considered inferior to the dominant group of largely British descent. Since the 1960s, ethnic groups and ethnicity have become household words in English-speaking social anthropology[2]. In everyday language, the word ethnicity still has a ring of minority issues and race relations to it.
American society is becoming increasingly culturally diverse. The 2010 Census indicates that the racial and ethnic makeup of the American population has increased dramatically throughout the years. The U.S. Bureau of the Census predicts that the United States will continue to undergo the following population changes over the next half century: Hispanics will represent 24.5% of the population (16.35% in 2010), African Americans will represent 13.6% of U.S. population (12.6% in 2010), Asian and Pacific Islanders will increase to 8.2% of U.S. population (4.8% in 2010), American Indians will represent 0.9% of U.S. population (0.9% in 2010), and Whites will represent 52.8% of the U.S. population (72.4% in 2010).
