Amir's Mistakes In The Kite Runner

While thinking of human flaws and goodness, the character Hassan from the novel ‘the kite runner’ said ‘for you, 1000 times over’ to his best friend Amir to show his loyalty. This created the main focus of the storyline of Amir‘s mistakes and their consequences. These mistakes question if Amir could ever redeem himself, but him putting effort to fix his mistakes by taking in Hassan’s son and standing up to Assef shows he is a redeemable character.
Throughout the novel, the reader can identify early on that Amir needs redemption and sees every day he struggles with the guilt of his actions. He also tries to fix the constant reminder in ways that seem to make the guilt worse before better. During the early chapters, Amir feels like he needs to redeem himself to Baba because he blames himself for his mothers death. To fix his mistake, he attempts to win the annual kite running tournament and give Baba The final losing hi. Once he does this, it begins the turning point in the novel and of a Amirs future actions. …show more content…

This becomes important to show Amir’s weakness of cowardice when Assef bullies Hassan and him. Also when Amir watches Hassan get raped by Assef. His actions of cowardliness during these events results in the new guilt that forms with them him.Amir, only 12 years old when this happened did not understand how to deal with the new guiltl and the actions he saw. He thought getting Bubba to get new servants, making Hassan and Ali leave would help. Bubba says no and that they are family. so he plants his birthday gifts of a watch and money in Hassan’s room to get rid of them since Bubba thanks theft is the biggest sin. When Hassan and Ali leave in the later chapters, Amir’s needed for redemption
