Ever since the founding of the United States, there have been innovators and with that come inventors and from them come America’s advances in technology. From early America with Benjamin Franklin and Alexander Graham Bell to more modern times with people like Henry Ford and Bill Gates. Eras like the industrial revolution helped boost these advances into much greater things.

Within a relatively short period of time the Airplane, Rockets, and Television were introduced. These marvels in technology paved the way for many of the modern marvels we know today. The airplane started out as a one to two person motorized kite essentially but today we have jumbo jets that can carry hundreds of people. But technology in the commercial field were not the only to be improved. In 1932 Dr. William Bennet Kouwenhoven developed a revolutionary medical device that could jump start a person’s heart with a burst of electricity, this device was the defibrillator. Since its creation Microsoft has made a great impact on the software business. Gates made computer software for many companies including Apple and later for himself, known as Windows which he was sued by Steve jobs for. Bill Gates has continued to give to the tech industry through the years and Windows is one of the most popular Operating System. Before Windows came about however, there was MS-DOS . Gates and Paul Allen were asked by IBM to create an Operating System for their new creation, the PC (Personal Computer). In 1982 the pc was released and took the world by storm with IBM leading the pack. Computers today still are being advances, from being able to display only lines of text to today’s PC’s running complex games that look as real as life.
Ever since 1969 when man made their first step on the moon, Americans have been working hard to get even further. And in 1981 NASA created the first reusable Space Shuttle. This craft could be used for multiple missions again and again, including launch, retrieval and Space Station repair. This Shuttle is extremely successful, yet in 1986 during a mission to send civilians to space for the first time. The shuttle Challenger explodes shortly after taking off, killing everyone
