American Pie Presents: Beta House I remember being on my first so-called date. I was in 6th grade at the time, hanging out with a 7th grade boy in the basement of his house with no parental supervision. That should have been the first red flag. My parents did not allow me to watch any of the American Pie films at home, so the boy put in American Pie Presents: Beta House because that was his favorite of the films. It was the unrated version. He said it was hilarious, that I absolutely had to watch it, and that I would be missing out if I didn’t. I now understand why that was the cinematic favorite of the pubescent, hormonal, pre-teen boy. I am never taking movie suggestions from a 13 year-old boy ever again. In the first 10 minutes of American Pie Presents: Beta House, I saw exactly the things I was not supposed to see. There is an embarrassing moment with full frontal nudity in a co-ed shower in which the character Eric sees a naked girl and uncontrollably pees everywhere due to extreme nervousness. After leaving the bathroom, Eric walks in on his very large roommate having sex with an equally large girl. The girl blows bubbles with a piece of bubble gum while bouncing completely naked on top of the roommate. The couple talk to Eric nonchalantly, oddly …show more content…
I was too young and very naïve the first time I watched the film, but it was definitely a learning experience. It made me learn for myself what I could and could not handle watching. It made me determine for myself what was appropriate and inappropriate for me to watch. It made me respect my parent’s ruling whenever they said I could not watch certain films and TV shows. It made me think about how I felt about sex and the Catholic teachings about sex that I grew up with. Watching this film matured me mentally and helped me to be able to say confidently that I am not totally comfortable with films of this extreme sexual
Overall I think that the show was worth seeing, even though I let my parents pick the film--which I will never do again by the way-- I think that it was a good production. It was a little boring at first, which might have just been because I didn’t really want to see it in the first place, but the storyline was pretty good. I personally like humor, so I tend to pick shows that I know will have some humor, but I’m proud of myself for seeing something outside of my comfort zone.
This film really opened my eyes in several different ways. It made me realize just how important family truly is in our daily lives.
I would recommend this film to other teenagers because it shows that following your dreams is worth pursuing if you are prepared to leave your family and maybe your country.
With the work of these two men we now have the best movie of all time. I think people thirteen and older should see this movie. I feel this way because of some scenes in the movie. At one point, one of the girls is naked. This was obviously skipped when I watched it at school, but I went home to watch it and didn't even know if my sister should watch it.
Overall the film was a very informative film for a more homophobic audience. The content was relatable and connected well with the information and discussions that have been within our society for a long time. It was a well-done film that really questions the homophobic opinions and while this is still a very real debate in today’s society the film does a great job at arguing the homophobic opinions.
The movie teaches us to look beyond the cover and into who someone is as a person. We also learn that sometimes contact with people makes us reconsider our judgement towards them, to find out the real person underneath.
If any one person should know anything about my music tastes they should know this, I listen to almost every kind of music. I don't see the point of confining myself to only one or two different genres. I have learned to love all kinds of music for all different aspects.
The documentary gave me a new perspective on the treatment of intersex infants. I had never really thought about how damaging it might be. I really enjoyed learning about how many other species have variations on the typical binary gender idea
My initial reaction to watching “ For The Bible Tells Me So” was feeling confused. I was confused because all the things I was taught was being challenged with a different point of views. Several bible verses about the acts of homosexuality that was mentioned in the movie were shedding a different light on my understanding. Also, I feeling like I can relate to a statement Chrissy Gephardt said, she knew of two things that were an abomination, suicide, and homosexuality. I was aware of those labeled abominations too but never did and depth research to see if in fact those were true statements. I felt a slight trigger of feeling sadness. I felt sad because there are so many people that base their negative decisions on how to treat LGBT people
Throughout the entire film, there are lessons that are being taught. Whether is the central theme of not judging someone by their skin color but by their character or showing the essence of what the meaning of family really is. Through the setting, acting, and relationships shown it all comes together to make the perfect film. I recommend this film be seen by everyone at least once in their lifespan, because the lessons that are depicted in there are valuable. It is the perfect movie to go see with your family and makes you grateful and thankful for everyone that you have in your life. The film brings joy, happiness, tears, laughter and much more. I can truly say that the movie is worth purchasing and viewing.
Peace Pilgrim once stated, “Unnecessary possessions are unnecessary burdens. If you have them, you have to take care of them. There is great freedom in simplicity of living. It is those who have enough but no too much who are the happiest”. In today’s society, there are individuals who consider themselves materialists, prideful, rich and others not that wealthy. However, material possessions are one of the most unnecessary items that Americans people have, which sometimes could be a critical aspect that defines their identity. In fact, many people who experience such dilemma, have particularly rented self-storage room, which helps them to accumulate and save all their valuable possessions. In the article “The Self-Storage,” by Jon Moallem,
Although I enjoyed the main portion of the movie, there were some obvious likes and dislikes in my opinion. I believe that I learned from this movie and it helped me understand more of what the people of that time were feeling.
As for the positive effects, I find it appropriate how the movie illustrates the struggles some people have to go through on a daily basis with the feelings, emotions, and their surroundings they endure. I mostly enjoy how they exhibit the recovery of it all. How even undergoing the hardest of struggles mentally, you can receive treatment for it, there are always people available, facilities willing to help that being as long as they are willing to try their very in return.
Not only does this movie deal with the issues of society, but it points to biblical scriptures that help lead us in the right direction. The biggest lesson that this film taught me was that if I put my complete faith in God, then no matter what happens, he will provide, watch over, and take care of me. I learned that expressing belief in God is not enough. I have to live everyday believing and trusting him and I have to show my trust and faith through my actions and my words.
If I meet the wrong person or being forced to do something, I should reject and leave immediately. This movie brings a lot of thinking about sexuality, sexual orientation and gender issues, and it does influence audiences in many different
