Consumers are choosing how they want to interface and interact. Marketers need to be where consumers want them. Consumers have various cards to choose from and repeat offers in the mailbox all over ruined with options and as a result, finding a good time to talk with marketers require more creativity. Today, there is too many messages, and American Express trying to figure out if anything getting through” (Kotler & Keller, n.d.).
In addition, “if American Express going to be successful as a brand and as a marketer, they need to understand where consumers are doing it, how consumers are spending their time, where consumers want to access information, and how can American Express engage them. A pride reminder of their first years of financial independence” (Kotler & Keller, n.d.).
Lastly, in the future American Express say they will continue to study the marketing environment to try and find the next great marketing opportunity.

American Express has become one of the leaders in credit and debit card transactions of the financial world. As the most innovative company in the business, they were the first to develop a large-scale traveller’s check. Over the years the company became more of a financial company and with the advent of consumer credit and debit cards they became a major player in supplying this service to it's members. American Express produced a niche market of "card members" to fit the needs of various financial desires. American Express has had to diversify it's products and services over the years to stay competitive with Visa and Master Card, who still control over 75% of the market share. The "elite" consumer still carries an American Express card, and the services and extra benefits associated with "being a member" are still an attractive bonus to many users. With it's financial services, travel business, and it's new Internet business sites American Express continues to grow and even through the recent meltdown in the financial markets they have seemed to emerge as strong as ever and will remain competitive through the 21st century. Once appeared as a travel service company associated with entertainment expenses, and even had several celebrities appeared in their advertisement campaigns. However today it seems as though the company attempts to convey that their service provides an easy and rewarding spending experience.
American Express sends out customer service surveys to the card members that call in to the telephone service center. The surveys are sent out randomly with a coding on the bottom of the survey so that the results and comments are given back to the correct employee. The employees are aware that any card member that they speak to could receive a survey. With this said, each employee goes through extensive training on the telephone behaviors that must be demonstrated while speaking to card members. The employees also go through extensive training on the policies and procedures that each card product and service has. This training is to ensure that each card member is handled with the most utmost professional behavior and their issues are handled correctly.
When the scandal of American express came to light. Warren Buffet believed American express shouldn’t have to pay the sixty million it offered to pay but rather they should have to accept blame and admit to. Buffett even at his own expense offered to testify describing how management was trying to plan to settle. American express ended up paying out large amounts of money; however, was able to bounce back and get its company’s stock back up by 1964. Many were surprised when Buffett wanted to testify because even though he was notorious for being honest just like his father but he had never tried to turn his investments into a place where all their secrets were out in the open.

Consumer Research, Inc. is investigating whether there is any correlation between specific characteristics of credit card users and the amount these users charge on credit cards. Their objective is to determine if these characteristics can accurately predict the annual dollar amount charged by credit card users. Data was collected from a sample of 50 credit card consumers presenting information on the annual income (referred as Income), size of household (referred as Household), and the annual credit card charges (referred as Charges) for these consumers. A statistical analysis; including a descriptive, simple regression, and multiple regression tests, of this data was performed and the findings are presented below. Due to the uncertainty of the size of the intended population with respect to the size of the sample data, any inferences implied from this analysis are merely observations and should not be applied as absolute findings with regards to the entire credit card consumer population.
The suit is being issued by the DOJ, but clearly being driven by American Express and Discover respectively. These companies, the two remaining credit card brands that make up the main players in the industry, have much to gain in a judgement against Visa and MasterCard. To understand the issues, and stakes a basic understanding of the current industry structure is necessary.

AE specifically target the high end market with their value added personal cards that offer additional products and services to the cardholder.

With all of the diversity to the surplus of goods and services offered to us, and the freedom of choice to us, one may speculate how individual marketers actually reach us with their highly definite marketing messages. It helps in understanding whom to target, how to target, when to reach them, and what message is to be given to them to reach the
At one of our quarterly All Hands meetings, the president of our division discussed how growing the market share was critically important in the digital banking space. The key goal is to continue to lead this space in the future, but doing so becomes increasingly more challenging as new market competitors try to steal share. To keep ahead, we need to always bring our “A” game to the market. To create blue ocean strategies would require innovation, customer engagement, and out of the box thinking. We have to consider buyer utility, pricing, cost, and adoption. To do this would require us to be strategic about how we design, build and price our products. Even the way the business manages the different consumer segments is important. There is differentiation of the needs of different types of financial institutions. The customer centered brand management strategy we discussed in class is very useful to this type of organization. How we market to large national banks should be different than how we market to small town banks. Generally, small banks do not have the technology budget to invest in large scale digital channel solutions. Many companies decided to have different brands for their different customer segments. We discussed how this works successfully for car companies. For Digital Channels,
