The American Dream is being able to buy whatever pleases you and to be successful, but also being able to have freedom and maintain happiness. Money is an important part of the American Dream because it would be nice to not have to worry about if you will be able to pay for something such as a bill, or treat yourself to something nice. However, it is also insignificant to the American Dream because money can’t buy happiness or freedom. For some people money does not mean anything. “Money cannot buy happiness”(Anonymous 81). Money allows you to obtain certain things in life, such as a big house and a vacation to the islands, but materialistic things do not make everyone happy. Most of the time family success causes happinesses and also leads to a better income. “On average, people who get married and stay married enjoy almost twice as much wealth as those who never marry”(Lucas).
