Have you ever wondered why your grandparent or an elderly person always ask the same question every 2 minutes. Or when they are confused and don’t know what to do with themselves? This is what we would call Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. It basically turns half of your brain down. When they hear something, then it goes through one ear and out the other. Adults usually get it when 65 or older. One out of 10 that are 65 or older in America have Alzheimer's and 5.5 million people of the United States are living with dementia in 2017. Although Alzheimer's takes over heart disease in leading death in America, there are many symptoms that can still affect your body, and also there are many ways you can prevent from having Alzheimer's in your life. …show more content…

Alois Alzheimer. Auguste D, one of Alzheimer’s patients, had been hospitalized since 1901. She was 51 years old and showed signs of dementia, including memory loss, disorientation, aphasia, confusion, hallucinations and delusions. Alzheimer said at one point that Auguste was unable to correctly write something, she stated, "I have lost myself." After Auguste died, Alzheimer sent her brain for research. When he studied it, he discovered that it contained the characteristics of Alzheimer's disease, specifically a buildup of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles.
