Alsace is in the north eastern part of France and borders Switzerland to the south and Germany in the east. It is the smallest region in the country, covering only 1.5 percent of the total surface area of France. The area has quite the spreadsheet for historical events and wars. This particular part of the country belonged to Germany several times before eventually being ruled a French province once again. Alsace has harsh winters and warm summers, making it more of a summer time destination above anything else. However, the area is studded with mountains and ski lodges for those who enjoy wintertime sports, so there is something to please everybody. The food in Alsace is as diverse as the province itself because of its huge Germanic influence throughout the years. Furthermore the cuisine is far from ordinary, housing some of the world’s best Chefs. However the style itself is quite rustic and unpolished but none the less sophisticated in its own way.
Documents and scriptures on Alsace go as far back as 58 BC. Through the centuries it has been invaded with success by numerous Germanic tribes. Including the Franks, Celts, the Alemannic tribe and not to mention the Nazis and the Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler. With so much history the country has a large population base of Germans. The area itself speaks its native French language with a somewhat German accent. Its structures and clothing were traditionally of German roots, as well as its food. However the beautiful province of Alsace still holds true to its French ways none the less. The Alsatian love their wines and cheese dishes just as much as the rest of the country and even house some of the world’s best dry white wines. However, while the wine in the area is magnificent to ...

Its not a secret as to why the cities in Alsace are amongst the most visited in France. One might ask how a place that has been through so much war and tyranny can be so peaceful and beautiful. The people of the region have endured for many years, yet they welcome all with open arms. The food ranges from simple to magnificent and the history alone will leave you coming back for more. It’s quite an amazing part of France, holding so many old world traditions and beliefs near and dear. If the United States took notes on Alcase, I believe that the society we live in today would be a lot more refined and peaceful. Whether you’re an inspiring artist, a hungry foodie, a wine lover or just love breathtaking scenery, Alsace has something sure to please anyone.
The region of Alsace-Lorraine has historically produced conflict between France and Germany. As a result of the Alsace-Lorraine provincial boundary changes, the people within the area had and still withhold individual national and cultural identities. These unique identities emanate from French, as well as German traditions. As time progressed so did the sentiment of the Alsatians. In 1871, when Prussia annexed Alsace-Lorraine, its citizens objected German rule. Conversely, in 1919 when France reclaimed the territory, the people in it began to yearn for the formally loathed German rule. The national and cultural identity of Alsace-Lorraine fluctuated inversely with its territorial modifications.
The countries of Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg have their own unique cultures, but have French and German influences. These cultural divides go deep into the history of the region. In 50 BCE, the Roman Empire took control of what is now France. During this time a group of Celtic tribes lived in the area.
The location of New France was North America. North America was an area colonized by France which stretched from New Foundland to Hudson Bay to the Rocky Mountains all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. All the territory was divided into 5 different colonies and those colonies were: Canada, Acadia, Hudson Bay, New Foundland(Plaisance), and Louisiana.
J.R.R. Tolkien's use of waybread takes on the properties of the Catholic Eucharist in The Lord of the Rings. He creates lembas, a special kind of dried bread and made it the primary food source for the main characters. This special food is, in certain ways, a type of Eucharist, as defined by the Catholic church. Specifically, the parralells can be found in the outward similarities and the surrounding effects.
Quebec has struggled with a need to be maitres chez nous “masters of their own house” (Young, 1998). Many attempts at resolving Quebec's issues has resulted in tensions from both sides. Because Quebec has a strong national identity, and do not define themselves as strictly Canadian, Quebec is seen as difficult, unyielding and discontented. Quebec's separation perhaps is inedible and the future of Canada questionable. Canada without Quebec will bring about many complications and whether there is a rest of Canada (ROC) after Quebec a major challenge. Western alienation and the lack of representation in federal affairs will be a factor; moreover, past actions and historical events may have turned Canada into a time bomb, and the deterioration of the provinces the only sulotion. How First Ministers react to Quebec's sovereignty regarding economic factors, political structure, and constitutional issues will be of great importance. Whether emotional issues will play a major role in decision making is subjective; however, it is fair to say that it will be an emotionally charged event and it could either tear apart the ROC or fuse it together. Placing emphasis on investigating what keeps Canada together is perhaps the key to Canada's future, and salvaging a relationship with Quebec.
French explorers first put their steaks into the ground more than a quarter of a century ago. The area that the French chose to build their lives on eventually became Louisiana. Although time has passed, the French influence continues to serve as a significant part of the unique culture of Louisiana ("How The French Influence Is Still Felt In Louisiana Today"). Noticeable areas of French influence include, but are not limited to: cuisine, music, and architecture. However, the continuation of the French language and dialects over the years appears to be the most noteworthy influence that French has had on Louisiana ("How The French Influence Is Still Felt In Louisiana Today").

Compared to other countries, France’s economy is the fourth largest in the world. France is a very industrialized nation, yet it has kept some of the cultural characteristics that contribute to its old-world charm. The economy is “exceptionally diversified” (“Economic Structure”, 1). It produces everything from aircrafts to pharmaceuticals.
The people of France had no real opportunity to rise up past being peasants all their lives due to overpopulation ,and most of them will inevitably meet their demise due to starvation. Additionally, as an example from A Tale of Two Cities, when a wine cask falls and breaks the wine spills all over the cobblestone, and the peasants, in a frantic motion, try to drink the wine as fast as they can and some of them even chewed on the soaked red wood from the cask. That paints an image of how desperate those people are to drink some wine off a bacteria ridden street, and do whatever it takes just to get a drop of something to moisten their dry mouths. To a degree the reader is able to observe the crowd of people fighting over this wine, and it shows they could do this with the French government in a larger scale. The people have been in desperation for food and water for so long that the automatic response is to lick wine off the road, the scene should resonate with the reader because it shows a form of conditioning.
