When human nature is blinded by the power of authority they must fight for their own rights and freedoms.Mob mentality can occur in every situation whether it be by the government, in a classroom, during an old tradition, following a certain person and even sometimes when a tragedy occurs. Mob mentality has the power to change the world for good or bad in a situation.It can change the world. When the government is conducting vicious behaviors violence can occur even if they least expect it. In the story “All Summer in a Day” Margot is forced against mob mentality and she has to miss one of the most important events of a lifetime. The sun is about to come out for the first time in Venus during her and her classmate lives. There is one problem though Margot is a shy girl who is outcasted by her classmates when she remembers she saw the sun when she used to live on earth. The other classmates get jealous in their excitement and they all decide to lock her in the closet causing her to miss out on the sun coming out. At the end of the day, they all end up feeling pretty guilty about what did to her. Mob Mentality is expressed in the story when all of her classmates decided to be apart of this prank and not one of the kids took a stand and helped Margot. The story says many different reasons why the kids “hated” her. "And so, the children hated her for all these reasons of big and little consequence." ( Bradbury 3) . This shows that even though if the hatred was small when all of the classmates put together the hatred was multiplied. Mob mentality can happen even in a classroom. The Holocaust took place from January 30th, 1933 to May 8th, 1945, which was a major genocide where approximately over six million Jews were killed or put in concentration camps by Adolf Hitler Nazi regime ( Lily Belsan) and his soldiers when it took place in Germany and Eastern Europe. This historical event is an example of mob mentality because all 24 000 people who were in charge of these concentration camps were so invested in Hitler and what he was trying to achieve that they completely lost themselves and didn’t realize that they turned themselves into killing machines even turned themselves into murders. We as humans need to realize that not always following the group can be the right thing to do, imagine how many more lives that could have been saved if someone just had the simple courage to stand up to this man. If there was at least one person who would’ve stood up to him there was definitely about ten more who felt the same way. Imagine how many lives would have been saved if everyone could have done one little gesture to stop
