Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Is Bullied By The Other Children The evidence that Margot is bullied is in paragraphs 37-46 Where the other students tell her the sun isn’t coming and that it was all a joke and then they lock her in a closet. There is more evidence in paragraph 28 where it says “Speak when you're spoken to.” He gave her a shove.” This evidence proves that Margot is bullied because the other students are pushing her. Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Misses The Sun The evidence that Margot misses The Sun is in paragraphs 13-16 where the text says Margot wrote a poem about the Sun being a flower.
Another piece of evidence that supports this in paragraph 29 where the text says “Only when they sang about the Sun did her lips move.” This proves Margot misses the Sun because she wrote a poem about the Sun, and she only participates in activities involving the Sun. Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Wants To Go Home The evidence that Margot hates the rain is in paragraph 36 where it says, “There was talk that her Father and Mother were taking her back to Earth next year; it seemed vital to her that they do so, though it would mean the loss of thousands of dollars to her family.” This shows that Margot wants to go home so bad, her family is spending thousands of dollars to take her back to Earth. Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Hates The Rain The evidence that Margot hates the rain is in paragraph 35 where it says “But she remembered and stood quietly apart from all of them and watched the patterning windows. And once, a month ago , she had refused to shower in the school shower rooms, had clutched her hands to her ears and over her head, screaming the water mustn't touch her her head. So after that, dimly, dimly, she sensed it, she was different and they knew her difference and kept
away.” Conclusion Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Margot struggles with living on Venus because she is bullied by the other children. Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Misses The Sun Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Wants To Go Home Margot Struggles With Living On Venus Because She Hates The Rain And the big idea is that Margot has a bad life living on Venus because of these three reasons.
In the story it says, “About how it was like a lemon, it was, and how hot . . . I think the sun is a flower, That blooms for just one hour.” This connects back to my idea that outcasts are sometimes the solution to society’s problems. Due to this quote, Margot’s statement about the sun is what makes her an outsider in the eyes of society. Later in the passage, it is revealed that Margot’s statement about the sun was correct and solved the problem of what the children think the sun resembles.
Margot goes to school with classmates that resent her. They hate her for having seen the sun, something they wanted so badly. This jealousy led to an overwhelming hatred that they were reminded of any time they saw her. Her classmates let their hatred take over and they locked her in a closet as revenge for the pain she had caused them all. But unlike Wendy and Peter from The Veldt, Margot was affected negatively from her classmateś actions.
It’s More Than Just Rain or Snow: Rain and snow in literature are used for more than just plot progression. When authors include rain, snow, fog, and rainbow it symbolizes something else .In the book Holes by Louis Sachar, Stanley was sent to juvenile detention camp green lake after being falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. Stanley and boys there are forced to dig holes every day. Towards the end of the book, after stanley found his family treasure he was told that he was going home and after months of no rain it started to rain out of nowhere. The rain in the book symbolizes growth and
The quote means that one of the boys were making fun of Margot’s amazing poem about the sun but it wasn’t appreciated by anyone else. Another example of this is when the kids pushed and shoved Margot because she didn’t want to speak to them.
The sun “glared down” on her as she turned away from her mother’s grave (8). Even later on within the book, she describes her mother’s grave as a “blister on [her] heart” (43). Through showing personal mistakes involving burying her mother and her memory, Trethewey pulls the audience into an emotionally invested state that disapproves of her own actions.
Ever since Margo was young, she loved myths and mysteries. This is how Quentin describes Margot. In the story Margo’s best friend Lacey, complains that people usually judge her form her looks. Margo feels the same, people only saw the mystery in her, when both she and Lacey were only ordinary girl with a pretty face. In the end of the story, Quentin confesses his love to Margo, Margo denies
All the kids her were rude and bullied her about remembering the sun.“ I think the sun is a flower; That blooms for just one hour:”( page 2 para 1). Margot says this the day before the sun come out. Of course the kids were still mean to her about it.“There was talk that her father and mother were taking her back to Earth next year; it seemed vital that they do so, though it would mean the loss of thousands of dollars to her family.”( page 3 para3). In this text it shows that Margot is jealous of the people on Earth and how much she wants to go back. She doesn't care that her family would lose thousands of dollars she just wants to be on earth where she belongs
Firstly, the narrator gives little detail throughout the whole story. The greatest amount of detail is given in the first paragraph where the narrator describes the weather. This description sets the tone and mood of the events that follow. Giving the impression that a cold, wet, miserable evening was in
Margot had previously lived on Earth, so she was used to seeing and experiencing the sun for the majority of the day. The children of Venus, however, were used to it appearing for two hours every seven years, so they could not relate to her experience and, where in turn, jealous of her. William, a classmate of Margot's, was the story's antagonist, and was the student who prompted the children to lock Margot in a closet. The children wouldn't have locked Margot in the closet at that very special moment when the sun came out if it had not been for William, because, ". . the biggest crime of all was that she had come here only five years ago from Earth, and she remembered the sun and the way the sun was and the sky was when she was four in Ohio.
After being released from captivity, Margot will be addressing the other kids about the negative effects of bullying and jealousy. She became a victim of bullying, hatred and jealousy and lost the opportunity to see the sun after four years. She will be telling the kids how it feels to become a victim of bullying, hatred and jealousy. Because, she came to Venus in an older age, she was different from them and knew more about the sun and its goodness that doesn’t mean that the other kids should bully her and have hatred for her. The golden opportunity to see the Sun after four years was taken away from her, just because she was not getting along with them. There was nothing could have been done to rewind the moment that she was locked in the
The rain cried as if the heavens had torn apart and came down to Earth to show its sorrow, beating a gentle yet violent tattoo on the roof. The cool breeze blew fiercely through the shelter sending a shiver down Liesel’s spine, awakening her from her slumber. She peered through the rotten sheet of linen that barely covered her shrivelled, thin body as the sound of little feet and nibbling rustled through her ears. Not of the children, but of mice, eating their way through her pillow; an empty potato bag. She heaved herself up, and staggered off the cement floor, wondering if it was wet or stone cold. Her head spun as she stood for a minute leaning against the mouldy walls to get her orientation back.
In this novel, the theme is jealousy comes easily. During the story the main character Margot is reading a poem she made about the sun. She is the only one of the students who remembers what it is like to be in the sun. "Aw, you didn't write that!" protested one of the boys. "I did," said Margot, "I did." "William!" said the teacher. The theme is jealousy because, William seems jealous that Margot had written the poem about the sun better than he can science he doesn't remember what the sun is like and Margot does. At one point in the story Margot is explaining what the sun was like. "It's like a penny," she said once, eyes closed. "No it's not!" the children cried. "It's like a fire," she said, "in the stove." "You're lying, you don't remember!" cried the children. This passage also shows jealousy. This shows jealousy because the kids don't think that is is possible that Margot remembered what the sun was like. The kids want to remember to. They are jealous that Marot remembers what the sun is like instead of them. In this part of the text Margot is again talking about the sun. This time the students can't take it. "Well, don't wait around here!"
...o be correct. Hemingway uses rain as a sign of death, sadness or to give one of his characters the state of being afraid. The despair brought by rain, Frederic says „ good-bye to [Catherine], and then „[leaves] the hospital and walk[s] back to the hotel in the rain". The rain described as he walks home represents again a cleansing in which Tenente will be forced to start a whole new life now.
The constant appearance of rain allows for sadness to be foreshadowed; the opposite can be inferred where there is more of a relief than sadness. The book says in the weather “…came the permanent rain and with the rain came the cholera” (Hemingway, 4). When the rain pours in the beginning of the book, it started to describe the scenery. The rain was signifies rain as death and as a tragedy for thousands of death soldiers follow along the cholera that comes with the rain. Usually when it rains in a novel or in a movie, the plot turns negative. Rain serves as a potent symbol of inevitable disintegration of happiness in life. Before Hemingway describes the rain, he says that “the leaves” on the trees “fell early that year” and this is not an example of rain, but it shows that not only does rain foreshadow sadness, but nature itself does. The nature aspect of this was that the leaves symbolize the soldiers and since they are falling early that year that means that they are dying as a young man. The death of them are sometimes forgotten with the permanent rain that falls o...
...t, I always assumed that rain was simply a type of weather. To me, the word rain was used as a clarification to help viewers understand. However, rain is so much more than just a clarification on the weather channel. Rain is associated with several emotions ranging from cleansing to depression, love to anger, and life to death. Sometimes I wonder if life would be better without rain; there wouldn’t be as many natural disasters or frequent reminders of depression. But then I imagine not being able to feel renewal and love, or see the effects rain has on life; suddenly, I realize that the positive effects of rain far outweigh the negatives. As you see the majestic rain gracefully floating down, recognize the simple beauty and importance in rain. Uncover those feelings you’ve been burying within you for so long; expose the emotions you’ve been hiding and feel free.
