ALFRED BRNHARD NOBEL
Alfred Bernhard Nobel is a scientist ,author, pacifist, and above all of that he is inventor of dynamite and the holder of 355 patents. He was born on October, 21, 1833, in Stockholm, Sweden and he is the fourth of Immanuel and Caroline Andriette Nobel’s eight children. He was raised in the capital of Russia where there were a wonderful mixture of different cultures and nationalities, and a great harmony between science and literature. Alfred was a weak child who always got sick but at the same time he was lively and curious about the world around him. Alfred’s father, Immanuel Nobel, was a descendant of the Swedish scientist Olaus Rudbeck , therefore Alfred the boy was interested in engineering, particularly explosives and he learnt the basic principles from his father at a young age. Alfred’s father, Immanuel Nobel was an engineer, inventor and a builder who built bridges and buildings in Stockholm, beside that he experimented for blasting rocks with different techniques because of his construction work.
When Alfred was five years old, his father moved to St.Petersburg, Russia where he built his engineering factory, a few years later Immanuel’s wife, Andriette, joined him in Russia with her sons Robert, Ludvig and Alfred. In Russia, Andriette gave birth to a boy called Emil then to another boy and a daughter but both of them died as children.
Immanuel became a successful manufacturer, inventor and designer of machinery. The earliest central heating installation in Russia was manufactured and the first one was in his own house. Therefore, we can say that Alfred Nobel is the man who changed his life after reading his obituary. On December, 10, 1896, Alfred died of a stroke in San Remo, Italy at age of 63 leaving a wealth of 31,225,000 Swedish Kronor for the Nobel Prizes.
I think that Alfred Nobel wasn’t just an ordinary person but he gave an example of determination, patience and hard work. He never gave up and he managed to change any failure or depression into success. Actually, Alfred’s achievements extended after his death not only because of his inventions ,but also because of the companies he had founded that are still playing a prominent role in the world’s economy and of course because of the Nobel Prize which will always be an illuminated remark for Alfred Nobel in our world.
