Who is Alecia Beth Moore? Alecia Beth Moore is a strong, independent woman, even though her early life was quite rocky, Alecia Moore now has a successful career as a pop singer and lives a lovely life.
Alecia Beth Moore was born on September 8, 1979, in the small town of Doylestown, Pennsylvania (“Pink.” Contemporary para. 2). Ever since she was three years old, Alecia wanted to be a rockstar. Also, Moore believed she never belonged in hometown, and all she wanted to do was to leave (“Pink Biography.” para. 2). Alecia said that when she was a child, other children would be intimidated by her because she knew how to fight; however, Lorraine Ali reported, “Pink said, ‘I’ve always portrayed myself as a much tougher girl than I am.’”(Ali para. 5). As a teenager, Moore loved skateboarding and kick-boxing aside from her love of music (“Pink.” Newsmakers para. 8). The parents of Alecia Moore are James and Judy Moore. With her father being a Vietnam War veteran, Moore was taught many survival skills. By ways of example, James Moore taught his daughter how to properly use knifes and guns; Moore was seen as a very tough child (“Pink.” Newsmakers para. 6). Along with survival skills Alecia was taught fighting skills. She said that her father would randomly come around a corner, tackle her, and then tell her to always be ready for anything (Ali para. 5). James and Alecia would routinely sing together while he played the guitar. He was the one who introduced Alecia to the world of music (“Pink.” Contemporary para. 2). Alecia’s mother worked as a nurse in the ER (Ali para. 5). Unfortunately, Alecia’s parents got divorced when she was only eight. The same magazine also said, “ The critics agreed: ‘Pink deserves respect for expressing herself instead of going through the teen-pop motions,’ wrote Rob Sheffield from Rolling Stone.” Linda Perry majorly helped Pink record Missundaztood. As a teen, Linda perry was an idol of Alecia’s, so she was more than happy to work with her. They created a strong bond while publishing this album. The critics believe Alecia was finally starting to show her true colors (“Pink.” Contemporary para. 7). People.com recoreded Pink’s thoughts about her second album, “‘Missundaztood gave me a sense of freedom andpurpose’, she tells Billboard. ‘It allowed me to exercise a lot of my demons. The world had become my therapists. And it helped me to feel better about being an outcast, knowing that there’s so many other people that share my pain.’”(“Pink Biography.” para.7).
