of the Islamic religion and their own faith. Hence Aisha has made numerous significant contributions to Islam through her teachings. 2.
Aisha has had and continues to have a significant impact on Islam. Aisha showed leadership when leading an army into the Battle of the Camel, this battle lead to the division of Islam into Shiites and Sunnis and the battle had and still has a massive impact on the division of Islam. Alisha was a role model to women, she taught women how to be a better wife through her relationship with Mahammad and to respect women within a marriage. Through her actions, she promoted the rights of females within the Islam community and within marriage. Aisha also strengthened women’s faith within religion and encouraged females to have a role within Islamic traditions. Aisha developed and transmitted over 2000 hadiths, these hadiths are still relevant today and have impacted the jurisprudence because of her developing the hadiths. Aisha preached on the streets to encourage and develop the communities understanding about Islam and their faith. This provided people with knowledge about the Islamic religion and allowed for them to become more evolved within the religion. Aisha has also been significantly acknowledged for her contribution to teach both men and women about Islam, their faith and the hadiths, this promoted equality of men and women. Through this, many feminists today use Aisha as an example/model for equality within the community and within religion. Hence, Aisha significantly impacted Islam and continues to today through her
teachings. Aisha both expressed and challenged the traditions of Islam through her contributions and teachings. Aisha challenged traditions of Islam in the Battle of the Camel, because Aisha did not believe Ali was the correct person to lead the Muslim community, she led an army into battle against him becoming the new Caliph. Because of her actions, it led to the division of Islam between the Shiites and Sunnis. Through this Aisha challenged traditional beliefs and contributed to the two divisions which continue today and causes conflict. Aisha also challenged the roles of women within the Islamic community. Alisha encouraged women to become more evolved with their faith and politics. During Aisha’s time women had little to do with religion and through her challenging these gender norms Aisha challenged the traditions of Islam. However, Aisha also expressed the traditions of Islam through teaching men, women and children about their religion including the hadiths and revelations. This spread word about the traditions of Islam and allowed for individuals to become in charge of their own faith. She allowed adherents to live a more authentic life as a Muslim through her teachings. Aisha transmitted over 2000 hadiths, this allowed for the spread of Islam and provided adherents with knowledge about the different ways of living as a Muslim. Because of Aisha these hadiths were recorded and preserved allowing for the traditions of Islam to continue to be practised. Additionally, Aisha contributed in the development of the hadiths, this impacted Islamic jurisprudence as it helped in the process of how Islamic laws were developed. These laws are still used today among the Islamic community, hence displaying how Aisha expressed the traditions of Islam through the hadiths. Thus, Aisha both expressed and challenged the traditions of Islam through her teachings and actions throughout her life hence justifying this statement.
...ople. It is heart breaking to see how few women contribute, compare to what they can contribute to the society for the moral and prosperity of the country. Islam teaches tolerance and sacrifice for both men and women because we are one under God’s eye. Women are not the only one to learn tolerance, sacrifice and serve men. It is important for people to educate themselves and find the purpose in making this world a better place for women and children. In addition, I wish to make every woman aware of their individuality that they are worthy in and of themselves and not by the men in the society.
The first religion and its views on women that will be discussed in this essay is Islam. Islam is a religions founded in Saudi Arabia almost two thousand years ago, by the prophet Muhammad. In fact, Muhammad dedicated much attention towards women in the Koran, the holy book of Islam. However, even though much was dedicated to women in the Koran, it was not dedicated to them in the sense of equality. Women in Islamic culture were apparently much lower on the totem pole than men, "The men are made responsible for the women, since God endowed them with certain qualities, and made them the bread earners...If you experience opposition from the women, you shall first talk to them, then [you may use such negative incentives as] deserting them in bed, then you may beat them (129)." I am going to critically review a newspaper article on the death of Hamzah Khan from Bradford. I will discuss the main findings the research methodology and the way in which it may or may not be useful in the contribution to our understanding of child welfare. I will also include information on child abuse and on the different agencies. The newspaper article is called Hamzah Khan: the harrowing story of an 'invisible' child. (Pidd, 2013)
‘Aisha was like a bridge between the time of the Prophet and the future of Islam’ (Haylamaz 2012, p1). This quote showcases that Aisha Bint Abu Bakr played such a significant role in regulating the Muslim Ummah. Aisha was one of the wives of The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). She has contributed a lot for the sake of Islam as many hadiths have been narrated from her. Aisha had remarkable intelligence and was very knowledgeable. She was seen as a very brave person that wasn’t frightened of talking back to people in order to find out the truth. When she would beat someone in an argument, The Prophet would display a smile upon his face and would
Lila Abu-Lughod’s article titled, “Do Muslim Women Really Need Saving?” takes a closer look at the problematic ethnocentric approach many have when trying to gain an understanding of another culture that may be foreign to that individual. In this analytical paper, Lughod looks at women in Islam, specifically the treatment of women and how it might be utilized as a justification for invading into a country and liberating its people. The country Lughod refers to in her article is Afghanistan, and Lughod points out the misunderstanding from the people to the Bush administration like First Lady Laura Bush who believed that intervention was necessary to free women from the captivity of their own homes. It is important to consider the role that different lenses play into all of this, especially when one’s lenses are being shaped by the media. Depictions of covered women secluded from society leave a permanent image in the minds of many, who would then later support the idea of liberation. This paper will discuss that the practice of using propaganda when referring to the lifestyle in the Middle East is not exclusive to the U.S; rather it has been utilized throughout history. Additionally, we will take a closer look on the importance of symbols, such as veils in this case; help to further emphasize the cause to liberate. Finally, we will analyze Lughod’s plea towards cultural relativism and away from liberal imperialism.

Few men have impacted the world in the way that Jesus and Muhammad have. They are the two prominent names in Christianity and Islam. These men were born in separate times. However, they served very similar purposes during their lives. Together, they have influenced the lives of more people in the last two thousand years than any others. Both are considered the main pillars of their respective religions and are highly regarded figures amongst their followers. Jesus was responsible for the promotion of Christianity, while Muhammad helped to spread the word of Islam. Both Jesus and Muhammad became known for the role they played in the establishment and strengthening of each religion and their messages are still being carried out today.
Contrary to popular belief, Islam is a religion that respects the rights of women. I was raised in a devout Muslim household, and I was raised to believe that women in Islam are amazing and powerful creatures that deserve respect, and this has had a massive impact on the woman that I aspire to be.
She shares how she was clearly shown that that God is triune, that Jesus is the only way to God, that the Bible is God’s true Word, and that God did, indeed, want to be her Father. She shares the heartbreak of being ignored and shunned by her family (the most important unit in Islamic society), but also the goodness of God in providing her with so much more spiritual family—brothers and sisters in Christ—than the natural family she lost. She tells how her relationships with her servants changed, and how she was led to give up her comfortable house, her lovely gardens, and her privacy and leisure time for the sake of
This incident only succeeded in making her a symbol of courage and hope in the Islamic world. A Pakistani woman named Kainat Ali, said , but for everyone in the world who needs education.
Islam and the Islamic world have played and continue to play a major role in our society. 100 years after the death of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Islam spread widely and muslims created empires that extended from North Africa to South Asia. Now, more than 22% of the world’s population are Muslims, and it is expected that the Muslim population will grow at the rate of 73% in 35 years. The first muslim migrants came to Australia in 1860, they were usually known in Australia as ‘Afghans’ and they brought with them the first formal establishment of Islam. Today, in Australia, around 500,000 people describe themselves as Muslims, the numbers continue to grow. The Islamic faith has made major contributions to our Australian society. Islam has influenced Australia with their culture and Muslims have impacted Australian politics, however, there are disacceptance and discrimination towards the Islamic faith.
In Zainab Ali's book, "Unveiling Islam: What Muslims Believe," she explains the basic beliefs of a Muslim. She also elaborates on the images of Muslims in the media created by important leaders such as Saddam Hussein and Louis Farrakhan and how they contradict the Islamic belief. The writer then gives her explaination of these contradictions with respect to Islamic rules. She focuses on the rules of the faith - the five pillars of Islam - by provinding explanations, definitions, and examples. After an elaboration of each pillar, the writer explains the relevance of the pillars in life and the affects that the pillars have on the character of a true Muslim. She then compares this character to the characters of the Islamic leaders in the media to support her claim that people of the Islamic faith are not compatible with the images portrayed through the media. By making this claim, the author is trying to correct the misunderstandings of the Islamic faith and of the Muslim image by providing examples, explanations, and comparisons to define a "true" Muslim.
September 11, 2001 forever changed the landscape of the generalized view of the Muslim community in the United States; these acts created a defining stereotypical image that all Muslim’s are extreme terrorists, or condone such behavior. Although this view of the Muslim community was not necessarily new, it was not widely acknowledged in America until the events of September 11th as it was continually thrust upon the public by print and news media. This study will discuss the dichotomy between representations of the Muslim community held by many in the Western culture as well as the psychological cause and effect of such depictions. The sociological “norms” as determined by popular American culture, the development of “terrorist” stereotypes through modern media, and the cause and effect postcolonial literature has had on the subject are all topics that will be evaluated. The objective of this research is to provide enhanced comprehension of the situational attitudes held by Muslims and Americans alike. Also, this will offer an educated understanding of the gap between what is believed and what is factual, in hopes of creating emphasis for the need of a new approach in creating a discrimination free partnership with the Muslim community while maintaining awareness and security.
Birth and death in the Arab culture has being one of the most interesting topics that is being discussed more frequently. When people talk or hear about the Arab culture they tend to think about different things about them like they are being considered as terrorist, they oppress their women and many things like that. But we tend to forget that this people, the Arabs are also human beings that they have normal day-to-day activities like people in the other part of the so-called westernized world.
According to Islamic worldviews, in the beginning, “Allah created seven heavens, one above another” (Noble Quran 67:3), and one made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a glorious lamp (http://islam.about.com/). Muslims believe that human life began with Adam and Hawwa (Eve), (http://islam.about.com/). It is also explained in the Quran that Allah created all the humans and animals from water. The bible tells a similar story about how life began. According to biblical worldviews, God created the Heavens and the Earth in six days, and on the seventh day he rested. Muslims do not believe this. Christians believe that human life started with Adam and Eve, which is a shared belief between Muslims and Christians. Biblical worldviews also carry the belief that humans were created from dust, which also differs from Islamic worldviews.
