Sports are changing especially gender-wise, people may cheat the system to play younger players or get a larger contract to be “younger”. A player that claims he is younger than he or she is is not fair due to experience indifference and higher player value, allowing a larger contract for them to cheat the system. Age requirements are important due to laws and liabilities, depending on the country and league rules. If you are under the age of 18 and are injured in a league, there could be large consequences for that league or other player that has injured them, even without their parents knowing “Sometimes parents are not even aware that this is what has been done to their children”. Matt Ford says from an age fraud sports article in Africa. …show more content…
Young skilled athletes will be hindered by older talent that lie about their age to make themselves look better and a higher value prospect for teams or leagues, it is challenging to identify someone's true age specifically if they are from a foreign country with no birth records or very little background information, size, and height, which can narrow down any type of suspicion towards a league, team, or player of an unfair advantage. Sports organizations use strict training, databases, and tests for age fraud prevention. Biometric testing solutions are being used for physical abilities or similarities in “young” or “old” players; these tests are performed across the United States in the NFL, MLB, MLS, NHL, and the NBA, according to Wicket Sports. Strict penalties are being pushed by coaches and organizations to penalize players who lie about their age and raise awareness of player integrity and verification of player identities. With a handful of large sports leagues in America, age fraud is a complex issue that includes thousands of players, coaches, staff, and officials to ensure an even level of competition for
The article shares with the reader that children who join competitive sports at a young age can learn discipline and healthy habits when performed right. Jordan strongly suggests athletes, coaches and parents need to be properly educated on safe training techniques and know how to read their children when they have an injury. This way the young athletes can join in on as many sport teams as they want. Over the recent years many regulations and laws have been passed, such as The Lystedt laws that “mandate a gradual return-to-play protocol to better protect youth athletes in all sports from the risks of preventable concussions”(Jordan). This will protect the players who do decide to specialize in one sport at an early
Who is the youngest athlete in professional soccer? Mr. Freddy Adu. At the age of fourteen, he is the youngest player to play in a professional soccer league. There are a number of benefits by being the youngest player to play professional soccer: a contract with Nike, playing for the DC United team and receiving much media exposure. Many people disagree with his decision and say that he is too young to play professional soccer and should finish his high school education and wait until his body and mind has physically and emotionally matured.
To fully understand this issue, first of all we need to know what one rule really is. Urban dictionary states, one rule done is "An athlete who spends one year in college before moving on to professional sports". This definition doesn't give us a lot of explanation on why these players have to sit out a year, and wait another year to play the game they love, in the league they dreamed of being in. Why is age difference a barrier for athletes who are younger, but can play the same as or even better than older basketball players? Basketball is all about winning and if you can use a younger player to your advantage, I don't see a reason why not do it.
In the United States today the age for a kid to start playing competitive sports continues to get lower and lower. Parents in America have started to get their children involved in sports at a much earlier age than they used to, hoping that their child will be the next superstar. Parents are placing too much emphasis on winning and being the best, instead of teaching their children how to have fun. Parents in the U.S. are also placing too much pressure on their kids to be the best. Parents in America are becoming much too involved in youth sports and are starting to get out of control, sometimes even resorting to violence and vulgarity.
This paper attempts to rationalize youth football as a sport by discussing the pros and cons in order to argue that youth should be allowed to play the game of football if they so choose. To do so, this paper will explore the ethical arguments and considerations of parents, young athletes, medical professionals and social media.
Although the reason that I think that kids should start playing football at an older age is because while they are growing, they should not have anything that could possibly stunt their growth or impede their learning. This will probably never happen because people want their child to be great at a young age around seven or eight, and be great at the age of fifteen. Because that is just the culture that we live. We praise the great and you are looked over if you are anything
Physical contact in minor sports is dangerous and unnecessary. It should not be permitted because minor players do not know how to safely apply physical contact in a game situation, physical contact can seriously injure players, and in the absence of physical contact players can focus on skill building.
In fact it is more likely than not that player will get injured playing sports. Players suffer sprained ankles, bruises, broken bones and concussions. It is part of the game, an unfortunate likelihood. Sports in itself is dangerous and football is amongst the top of the list in terms of danger. It is up to the parents to decide whether or not it is a risk that they are willing to take. Does a boy channel the passion he inherited from his father to a different type of sport or activity? Does a parent pull their child form the sport because of the fear of injury? The fact remains that football needs changes to make it
Many parents will argue about whether kids should be allowed to play sports at such a young age. In my opinion, I think kids shouldn’t be allowed to play sports at a young age. When they grow older, I think that kids should be allowed to play sports. When a young athlete gets injured, coaches may not be trained for an injury and the child can suffer more serious injuries just from that. Kids want to skip practice so they will often fake an injury, serious coaches will use shaming techniques and call athletes “ladies” or man up, and athletes might not have the best protective gear, making them more likely to have a concussion. Worst of all, coaches
When I go to a gymnastics meet and do really good, so I get that 1st place medal or trophy. It feels amazing, I mean the sport gymnastics is competitive and I sure do love competitive sports. The competitiveness gets you that rush of excitement. You feel nervous, but excited to get in there and try your hardest. Kids make better choices and have committed when they have the drawbacks of participating in competitive youth sports.
“It 's important that athletes can compete on a level playing field. And youngsters coming into the sport can know that if they are working hard and training hard, they 'll see a true reflection of where they stand and what they can achieve worldwide and not be swayed by people who are cheating.” This was said by Paula Jane Radcliffe, a long-distance runner and Olympian. Cheating in sports is considered to be immoral. In sports there are many different forms of cheating. Whether it is illegal taping, bribes, or foul play, it is never the way to go. Undoubtedly the most extreme and controversial form of cheating is through the use of PEDs, better known as Performance Enhancing Drugs. There are many different types of Performance Enhancing Drugs. Teaching kids to be leaders in today’s world is a hard task that many people have tried to do and have been unsuccessful, but youth sports, on the other hand, have no problem teaching kids these important life skills. Ever since Youth competitive sports existed people have been arguing over whether they are. Youth competitive sports teach kids many important life skills, for example, they teach kids how to work together with other people. Another life lesson that sports teach is leadership skills. Although some people say kids shouldn’t play youth competitive sports because they can get injured, the pros like teaching life skills outweigh the cons by a lot.
The ages of the above players are between sixteen to eighteen years old. How would this scenario work if the children playing on the Western Hill and Aledo Football teams were three to eight years old, and not sixteen to eighteen years old? Let’s review the pros of children taking part in organized sports: physical activity, socialization, health competition, self-esteem, and discipline. With every action there is an equal reaction also known as the Cons of children taking part in organized sports: which are injuries, cost, stress, and lost family time together. Some of the benefits of playing outdoor sports, are stated by Adnan Samia in an article entitled “Benefits of Sports.”
To cheat is to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage. The use of performance –enhancing drugs in sports is morally wrong due to the fact that it is only a sign of cheating, impacts the future generation, and is deceiving to fellow audience. This goes against all the things sport fans theorize from athletes. People expect to see the individuals perform with the best of their abilities. It is what makes watching sports more interesting and creates competition. Performance enhancing drugs in sport should not be tolerated and should be illegal because it eliminates competition.
It 's been outrageous , how many kids get injured per year playing youth sports for school and organizations. The youth who play sports receive plenty medical attention throughout the year due to injuries cause from actions made occuring in games. Health plays a big part in sports because if your are are not healthy many things can go wrong with the body including dehydration, heart problems , and muscle spasm. Playing a sport can be very hard to juggle with school and also getting talked down by coaches and parents.
