ACME Electronics is a medium size business specializing in Lighting controls and systems. Acme’s main clients are consumers of Home Improvement outlets and Installing Electrical Contractors. This company has recently decided to upgrade the intercommunications network. This memo will highlight the advantages as well as disadvantages of the system chosen to be installed.
The system chosen to replace the legacy PBX switching system will be the NEC’s NEAX 2000 IPS. The headquarters of ACME Electronics is spread between four buildings. The NEC NEAX 2000 IPS supports distributed processor architecture. This means that the processing requirements of the system are shared between more than processor. This allows for faster response times and redundant operation. If one processor fails, the other can take over. Two of the four buildings are equipped with 1 Pentium 200 MHz Processor dedicated to the inter-communications system.
The main advantage of using this system is that is supports voice over IP (VoIP) services such as IP-Centrex. IP Centrex is a service that provides a single broadband access point to a company. The company can use this access point to broadcast packets of voice data. When no voice data is present, more bandwidth is available to other uses of the company. This results in saved money to the company because dedicated phone lines are not needed.
The new communications system will be installed using the existing cabling. The connection that will be used to tie the buildings together will use fiber as a transmission medium. Each of the four buildings is tied together using previously installed multi-mode fiber optic cable. Prior to the installation of this system, this fiber was referred to as “Dark Fiber”, meaning it was not used and therefore no light was being transmitted through it. During the construction of 2 of the 4 building, Structured Cabling was installed to facilitate future communication and data requirements.
The communications protocol that will be used for voice communications is Asynchronous Transmissions Mode, ATM. ATM is a dedicated switching method that assembles 53 byte cell frames and sends them over a physical medium using digital signal technology. ATM is Asynchronous because the cell frames are not transmitted in any sort of predetermined order. The reason ATM is so fast is primarily due to hardware such as fiber. The speed of ATM is 155.5 Mbps.
Acme Electronics is separated into many different departments. Depending on the department an employee is assigned to, the need for communications can vary.
...dustrial automation and for input/output functional needs. The low cost per signal line, minimal power consumption, overall Ethernet network capabilities, and self-request maintenance allow for home/office automation, controlled machinery, system monitoring, and remote access control. With key features for industry requirements, the IRP module is an ideal tool for networking needs.
Like a lot inventions in the past two centuries, modern fibre optic cable was created for military uses. The manager for Copper Cable and Wire at the US Army Signal Corps was getting more displeased with the amount of signal loss that was due to copper cable.
According to the modern way of life the need for computer in every work place and home is high which decreases even more the power of the customers. However, the switching costs are low (2.2)

Besides, talking about the benefits and features attached with Cisco ASA 5500 Series IPS Solution, first it is important to discuss about the set of clients that it serve with its broad spectrum of multi-facet technological upgrade -:
We can use Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) as an example to explain the relationship between the data rates of the inputs and output of a TDM. Hanrahan (2005) indicates that there exists the need to transmit multiple subscribers’ calls along the same transmission medium. To meet the requirement, TDM is used because TDM allows switches to create channels within a transmission stream. If an input is a standard DS0 voice signal has a data bit rate of 64 Kbit/s, TDM takes frames of the voice signals and multiplexes them into a TDM frame which runs at a higher bandwidth. In other words, if the TDM frame consists of n voice frames, the bandwidth will be n*64 Kbit/s.
ATM is geared toward high speed voice and video transmission, much like a telephone network. It uses a cell-switching and multiplexing technology. The data (this refers to data, voice and video) is transferred between two points on a dedicated circuit in 53 byte cells. Each cell is the exact same size, no matter what data is being sent. The cells consist of 5 bits of header information and 48 bits of actual data. Using a smaller, consistent cell size means there's less delay between when each cell processes at the other end. Using dedicated circuits via virtual circuits ensures there is no interruption in the data transfer. This is extremely important to voice and video transmissions, because they are highly intolerant to data delays. This improves the Quality of Service (QoS) and speed of transfer, which can be between 25 Mbps to 622 Mbps.
All forms of commerce will benefit from fibre optic connectivity as it will lower the cost of communication, which is a vital part of any business. New opportunity for the growth of the data market will emerge as cheaper bandwidth should translate to more users.
Despite the short amount of time since the introduction of the smartphone, the rapid development of the software and technology has had a tremendous effect on the everyday life of society today. The concept of communicating through a telephone was developed in the 1870s. Devices to transmit speech electrically were designed by Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell, but Bell's design was patented first. On March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell achieved one of his greatest successes in the making of the telephone. This brought upon a major change in communication and gave leeway to the improvement of the telephone in the days to come (Bellis, 2013b).
This report will describe the two forms of data communications in terms of the physical interfaces and modes of operation. It will describe the features of data communications equipment in relation to synchronous and asynchronous communication including modems, network terminating units and sending and receiving equipment.
An office automation development with cost-saving potential, as it’s a method of using technology to bring people and ideas together despite geographical barriers. There are several verities of teleconferencing, but the most common today is Video conferencing.

-Communication in face-to-face only targets the audience available as per that moment and instance not targeting a wider audience stationed at various locations according to Prager Microsystems,
Making a telephone call no longer should conjure up visions of operators connecting cables by hand or even of electrical signals causing relays to click into place and effect connections during dialing. The telephone system now is just a multilevel computer network with software switches in the network nodes to route calls get through much more quickly and reliably than they did in the past. A disadvantage is the potential for dramatic and widespread failures; for as has happened.
