Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin are two of the most sadistic dictators of the past century. They both reigned terror in Europe during World War II. Fueled by rage and anger, Hitler and Stalin rose to power and exploited their beliefs throughout Germany and Russia. Stalin turned Russia into a Communist country while Hitler was turning Germany against Jews. The leadership of these dictators brought death and fear to many who opposed them. Hitler and Stalin both shared deprived childhoods, vicious fathers, affectionate mothers, problems with women and paranoia. Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin were defined by their unpleasant childhoods, prejudiced beliefs, and obsession with power.
On December 21st, 1879, Joseph Stalin was born in Gori, Georgia. Controlled and beaten by his abusive, alcoholic father, Joseph later became a violent dictator who suffered from an inferiority complex and paranoia. As a young boy, Stalin was one to get angry quickly and hold grudges against people. Hoping Joseph might become a priest, his mother enrolled him in a church choir. In 1894, Joseph entered the Tiflis Theological Seminary to begin his studies on Russian Orthodox Christianity. When he attended school, teachers noticed a stubborn and sadistic side that Stalin had. He became attracted to Revolutionary terrorism and Marxism. After five years in the seminary, Joseph was expelled for revolutionary activities.
Ten years later after Joseph’s birth, Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889, in Braunau, Austria. Like Joseph, Hitler was beaten regularly by his father who was a strict disciplinarian. As a boy, Hitler wanted to become a priest, and like Stalin, sang in the church choir. In 1900, Hitler enrolled in elementary school. Like Stalin, Hitler w...

Joseph Stalin became leader of the USSR after Lenin’s death in 1924. Lenin had a government of abstemious communist government. When Stalin came into government he moved to a radical communist society. He moved away from the somewhat capitalist/communist economy of Lenin time to “modernize” the USSR. He wanted to industrialize and modernize USSR. He had overworked his workers, his people were dying, and most of them in slave labor camps. In fact by doing this Stalin had hindered the USSR and put them even farther back in time.

Joseph Stalin was a realist dictator of the early 20th century in Russia. Before he rose to power and became the leader of Soviet Union, he joined the Bolsheviks and was part of many illegal activities that got him convicted and he was sent to Siberia (Wood, 5, 10). In the late 1920s, Stalin was determined to take over the Soviet Union (Wiener & Arnold 199). The main aspects of his worldview was “socialism
Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler, these two men have forever changed the history of the world. Josef Stalin or Uncle Joe Stalin as his country knew him, was seen to the Russian people as a savior and a heroic leader. Adolf Hitler was known as the `Father of the Final Solution', which killed nearly six million of the sick, gypsies, Jews, homosexuals, and handicapped. Stalin and Hitler were both evil men who gained their power by manipulating others to get what they wanted. Both men were cold and calculating when it came to getting what they wanted. These two men had no respect for human life and did not have a problem killing people who stood in their way. They promised the people of their country a new world with a bright future; however, these faithful people never saw a bright future.
Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili was born on December 18, 1878, in Gori, Georgia, which then became part of the Russian empire. When he grew up, he named himself Stalin, Russian for “man of steel”. Stalin’s family was poor. His father was an alcoholic shoemaker, who was abusive and violent towards his wife and only son, and his mother was an illiterate peasant who wanted her son to become a priest. Stalin became the dictator of the Soviet Union (USSR) after Lenin died, from 1929 to 1953, when he died.
During the time that led up to World War II there was two national leaders who rose to power. They caused misery and death to millions of people while under their rule. These two well-known national leaders were Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. They were two of the most murderous leaders the world has ever seen, and were surprisingly similar in many ways. These two widely known national leaders had many similarities such as both of them killed millions of innocent people, both rose in power due to favorable conditions, and both were very skilled users in propaganda.
...e had none. He was not a compassionate Russian leader worthy of statutes within the countryside. He was an ambitious man driven by power and ideology; whom repeatedly relied on chance. A murderer of many, and a lover of few, Stalin will always be compared to the likes of Hitler, and Napoleon. Maybe in some sadistic way we needed a man like Stalin to remind us of the perilous courtship between ambition and power. Whatever the case may be, Stalin's place in history will always be a sick-minded tyrant who is responsible for the execution of half a million people. Conquest questioned his psyche, calling him paranoid or even crazy. Psychologist might claim Stalin was a classic example of a Napoleon complex with power. I however, find it ironic how a teenager a few months short of becoming a priest, gets so dizzy with success, that he damn near becomes Lucifer himself.
Originally born as Joseph Vissaiovich Djugashvili, Joseph Stalin was born in a little town of Gori, Georgia, December 18, 1878. Along in his 30s, Joseph took Stalin for the Russian name, “man of steel.” Stalin was very unfortunate as a child. He had an alcoholic, abusive father. His father’s occupation was a shoemaker. His mother, however, was a laundress (“Joseph”).
Joseph Stalin was the tyrant leader of the Soviet Union from the 1920’s until his death in 1953. “It was no secret that Stalin had been responsible for the deaths of millions of his own citizens: peasants deported or starved to death during the forced collectivisation of Soviet agriculture; party and state officials purged during hunts for ‘enemies of the people’; ethnic minorities condemned as wartime collaborators of the Nazis; and returning Soviet POWs suspected of cowardice, treason and betrayal” (Roberts, 3). Joseph Stalin was a ruthless dictator who would often exterminate
Son of a poverty-stricken shoemaker, raised in a backward province, Joseph Stalin had only a minimum of education. However, he had a burning faith in the destiny of social revolution and an iron determination to play a prominent role in it. His rise to power was bloody and bold, yet under his leadership, in an unexplainable twenty-nine years, Russia because a highly industrialized nation. Stalin was a despotic ruler who more than any other individual molded the features that characterized the Soviet regime and shaped the direction of Europe after World War II ended in 1945. From a young revolutionist to an absolute master of Soviet Russia, Joseph Stalin cast his shadow over the entire globe through his provocative affair in Domestic and Foreign policy.
These two men were very demanding in obtaining what they thought should be the rule of a nation by their own personal control. Stalin and Hitler were very close in the same way that they had an aggressive vigor to force a type of commanding dictatorship into their respective countries. Each had a special army that they put in high regard politically to where they were considered special police agents. These armies were under different orders, but their main objectives were to stop anyone who opposed, or were thought to be in opposition to the head of state. Also, both Stalin and Hitler had ideas to improve the education levels and economic prosperity of their own countries, each trying to put their own at the top of the world in industry and commerce. Although Hitler and Stalin were opposed to each other’s own strategies and political stance on being a world dominator, they were very similar in the way to which they fought for political power.
“The man who turned the Soviet Union from a backward country into a world superpower at unimaginable human cost (Joseph Stalin).” “Stalin was born into a dysfunctional family in a poor village in Georgia (Joseph Stalin).” Permanently scarred from a childhood bout with smallpox and having a mildly deformed arm, Stalin always felt unfairly treated by life, and thus developed a strong, romanticized desire for greatness and respect, combined with a shrewd streak of calculating cold-heartedness towards those who had maligned him. “He always felt a sense of inferiority before educated intellectuals, and particularly distrusted them (Joseph Stalin).”
Much like Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin was one of the most ruthless and despised people in the recorded history of the world. Stalin though his policies found it fit to abused his people in any way he saw fit. This man started what history now calls "The Great Purges."
