Did you know that without the Earths rotation and axis we wouldn't have the same night and day time or the same seasons that we would. The speed of the rotation is a major factor that most people don't think about that could make a major effect if it was not the way it is now. Also the tilt of the axis is an important factor in the seasons and day/night hours. In my research I have found out why and how they are so important with the Earth’s rotation.
Earth's rotations is rotating on almost an imaginary line. This line is going threw the North and South Poles of the planet. This is called Earths axis of rotation. It takes one full day to complete a rotation around. The Earth rotates from the west towards the east. Therefore the Earth rotates counter-clockwise. Just like any other object that is moving there has to be something causing it to move. Earth moves due to angular momentum. Angular momentum is just a fancy word for things that tend to rotate. This is the short answer to why Earth rotates. Although the moon's tidal forces, slow down the rotation just a little bit bu...
Ancient Pueblo Indians had a great understanding of astronomy. All of the pueblos in the canyon were aligned to match the movements of the sun and moon. Also, they marked their complexes with daggers and spirals to keep up with the moon cycles and sun movements. The film explains that the moon moves north for nearly ten years and then south for about ten years. To fully understand this cycle of the moon, Pueblo people had to study it for years in order to build their Pueblos in relations to it. The sun however, was different because it set and rose in the same position. The concept of building structures in an astronomical pattern this complex cannot be found anywhere else.
This story is basic about what the different between Earth and Eyeth. This story basic how deaf had this own world. You earth has red, yellow green and blue. Explain how the earth looks like have everything one included the stars, the sun, and aminals bird flying around the earth. There this building is the while and long hallway. Communicate center and the people preparation to go there. There we many people work there, different people with responsible. They knew about the thirteen planets knew was top secret. They want to know what was going on that thirteen planets, was make lot noise there. They want to know if the live person on that plant so they agree to have met and get permission first before they could send someone there. They were

The traditional theory about the Earth’s core suggest that the core of the Earth is a solid nickel and iron sphere surrounded by a fluid metallic magma. The rotation of the Earth is believed to create massive columns of magma to swirl in the core. These columns are believed to produce the Earth’s magnetic field. This theory is based on the assumption that the Earth’s core is cooling and will eventually cool completely and cease to produce energy and a magnetic field. However, this theory does not answer many ongoing mysteries about the Earth, such as why the Earth’s magnetic field periodically shuts down, and questions about the energy production of the Earth. It was apparent that a new theory was needed to explain the mystery of the Earth’s core.
In 1543 Nicholas Copernicus, a Polish Canon, published “On the Revolution of the Celestial Orbs”. The popular view is that Copernicus discovered that the earth revolves around the sun. The notion is as old as the ancient Greeks however. This work was entrusted by Copernicus to Osiander, a staunch Protestant who though the book would most likely be condemned and, as a result, the book would be condemned. Osiander therefore wrote a preface to the book, in which heliocentrism was presented only as a theory which would account for the movements of the planets more simply than geocentrism did, one that was not meant to be a definitive description of the heavens--something Copernicus did not intend. The preface was unsigned, and everyone took it to be the author’s. That Copernicus believed the helioocentric theory to be a true description of reality went largely unnoticed. In addition to the preface, this was partly because he still made reassuring use of Ptolemy's cycles and epicycles; he also borrowed from Aristotle the notion that the planets must move in circles because that is the only perfect form of motion.
The mantle of the Earth is very weak so, the rigid structures of the lithosphere move around easily. Tectonic plates move easily over the mantle because, they are just floating there. The heat of the Earth causes the magma in the liquid mantle to expand and move. The heating and moving of magma causes the tectonic plates to move. The plates move in a pattern called a
We all know that the tilt of the Earth accounts for the seasons, but many folks don’t know that the tilt, or obliquity, of the Earth has changed over time. During a period of 41,000 years, the tilt of the Earth’s axis changes from 22.1° to 24.6°. This wobble, like other facets of the Milankovitch Cycles, is caused by gravitational interactions with other planets.
The basic science is pretty straightforward. The earth lurches from time to time because its outer shell is broken into huge, solid plates floating on a layer of molten rock that has the consistency of Silly Putty. These tectonic plates are constantly jostling each other, like rafts crowded into a...
For millions of years, tectonic plates have been determinate of changes in the physical face of the earth, and they continue to do so today. These massive plates move underneath the surfaces of the oceans and the continents, producing earthquakes, volcanoes and uplifts. This paper will discuss the composition, movement and history of tectonic plates, the theory of plate tectonics and its history, and tectonic plates affect the surface of the earth today and will continue to do so in the future.
Magnetic Field: The Earth has a superior magnetic field due to a core consisting of iron and nickel. Currently the rotation of the Earth and its Coriolis effect help to create this pull of the tides from the oceans. The northern lights or lurora Borealis can be seen at various times in a mystifying view of beauty.
An atom consists of a number of negatively charged electrons, orbiting around a positively charged nucleus. These electrons also possess a quantity known as spin, which is roughly analogous to a spinning top. The combination of orbital and spin motions is called the angular momentum of the electron. Angular momentum is perhaps most easily understood in the case of the Earth: The earth spins about a central axis, which means it at has an angular momentum around that axis. The planets also have an angular momentum as they revolve about the sun.
The Earth is a home for mankind, a planet sustaining life, and it is also a giant magnet! Magnets in general, no matter what type of magnet it is, have two end faces called poles. Poles are where the magnetic force is most effective. These two poles are known as the north pole and the south pole. Magnets also create a magnetic field from the particles within the magnet. The Earth resembles this same structure. The earth has a geographic north pole and a geographic south pole. Since opposites attract in magnets the south pole of the core of the earth points towards the geographic north pole of the earth and the north pole points towards the geographic south pole of the earth. The core of the earth serves the same purpose as the particles in m...
Earth is made up of approximately 71% of water. A majority of this water is from the oceans. It is estimated that one fifth of the planet includes oxygen made by plants. The Earth floats around on its axis in 23.434 hours, that being said it takes the earth 365.26 days to circle the sun. Air is around the Earth it thins out the farther it is from the surface.
Earth Hour is an annual international event, organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This event actually asked us to think about what else we could be doing to make a difference to save our Earth. Countries that participate will switch off their lights for one hour to display a universal commitment to protect the one thing that unites us the entire planet. Unfortunately, most of us do not notice that this campaign will bring side effects, if we as a citizen participate in this campaign in a wrong way. Hence, the campaigns of Earth Hour has innumerable uses and like all campaigns, it has its drawbacks which encompass negative impact on human activities, enhancing energy reduction as well as releasing emission to the environment and perception of people about Earth Hour.
An El Nino happens in intervals of 3-7 years. The formation of this is related to the Pacific Southern Oscillation which is also the cycling of the Pacific Ocean circulation. The Pacific Southern Oscillation (the change of atmospheric pressures) happens when the easterly trade winds collapse, weaken, or even reverse. As this happens, the upwelling stops. The slight weakening of the winds cause a small change in sea surface temperatures, and the wind and pressure changes increase. The warm water of the western Pacific Ocean flow eastward and sea surface temperatures increase on the western coast of South America. When this occurs, the wet weather conditions (originally in the western Pacific) move east, and dry conditions (normally in the east) appear in the west.
