Recommended: Womans rights to abortion

Abortion is a subject that is talked about very commonly throughout society. Many doctors who give abortions are called killers. The people who call these doctors killers are pro-lifers. They believe abortion is wrong. Pro-lifers also believe abortion laws were made up by baby killers, and not our court system. Abortion was illegal at one point. It wasn’t until the case of Roe vs. Wade that the Supreme Court decided women have the right to abortion as long as guidelines were followed. Roe vs. Wade guidelines that were established are still in effect today.
“During the first trimester the State may regulate abortion.” The fetus is not able to survive outside of its mother’s womb during the first three months of pregnancy. The interest of the State is to the well-being of the pregnant woman. A mother deciding to get rid of her child during the first three months of pregnancy has the right to do so.

The state was also required to regulate all abortion procedures so that they became reasonable. The procedures were supposed to protect and preserve maternal health. At the third trimester, the state interest would become compelling since the viability of the fetus becomes compelling.
