Recommended: Ethical abortions
Who in the right mind thinks it’s okay to take the life of a child? The answer to that is no one. It’s just not right to take the life of any child even if they are not fully developed. NOw women are taking pills that will induce an abortion.
The "Abortion pill" is the popular name for using 2 medicines to end a pregnancy – mifepristone and misoprostol. In general, it's used up to 63 days — 9 weeks — after the first day of a woman's last period. (A few states have laws that limit the use of the abortion pill to 49 days.) Women who need an abortion and are more than 9 weeks pregnant can have an in-clinic abortion. This type of abortion just sounds cruel and not fair.
Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, over 56 million unborn children
have been killed, more than the entire population of Spain. That's 155 babies per hour. About 1 every 24 seconds. Life starts at the moment of conception this is the definition given in any respectable medical textbook. To declare a beginning of life at any point after the fusing of a wife’s egg and a husband’s contribution is irrational and an exercise in sophistical chicanery. Only machines such as clocks and cars come into existence part by part. Living beings come into existence all at once and gradually unfold their world of innate potential. A living human person begins to exist at the moment of conception, even though only as a cell. What is important is not the accident of size or weight but the essence – which is fully human. The unborn baby has a distinct, unchanging and unrepeatable genetic code, unique in all of history, from the moment of conception till death. Nothing is added except nutrition and oxygen.1 Doctors and our government think this is okay yet it aint.
There are many different types of abortions that can be performed. The type used depends on how far along in the pregnancy the woman is. In the very early stage of the pregnancy, up to 49 days after conception, the woman has two choices. The first is to take a combination of drugs. This is called a medical abortion.
Each and everyday children are murdered before they even get to feel what life is. So far 50 million, and counting, innocent lives has been taken away. That’s more than 100 happening every single day. It’s not the baby's fault at all. The mother should have been more responsible and serious about her decisions to have unprotected sex. If she understood the hardships
Abortion is the termination of a human pregnancy that does not end in birth of a child. There are two types of abortion-medical abortion and surgical abortion. Medical abortion can be done before 49 days of pregnancy by using pharmaceutical drugs. Surgical abortion takes place by using surgical instruments between 6-14 weeks of pregnancy. Both methods are safe. It depends on the size of fetus and week of pregnancy. An abortion, which is the removal of a fetus from a woman’s body, should be allowed because of women’ s freedom, life opportunities and victim protection.
Sometimes abortion happens on its own this is known as a miscarriage or spontaneous abortion. But women can also choose to end a pregnancy by getting surgery or taking medicine. There are two kinds of abortion in the United States which as in-clinic abortion or abortion pill. Starting with in-clinic abortion there is more than one procedure. The most common is called aspiration also known as vacuum aspiration and D&E “dilation and evacuation which both are usually used up to 16 weeks after a woman’s last period. An abortion pill or mifepristone is a medication that ends an early pregnancy. In general it is used up to 63 days or 9 weeks after the first day of a woman’s last period. There are a few states that limit the use of the abortion pill to 49 days. There are many reasons why women choose the pill. For example, it can be done early they can begin treatment as soon as they know they are pregnant and it is private so the process can be done at home. How safe is the in-clinic and abortion pill? Most women can have either of these done safely, but with all medical procedures have some risk, so safety is a concern. Most often, any complications can be simply treated with medicine or other
Around this time major changes are happening in the baby 's lungs (Pregnancy week twenty four Pg 10). So the public says it’s okay to kill a baby that is breathing with a regular heart beat, but what about this? Imagine your mother developed alzheimer 's and became a burden to you, her heart is still beating and she is still breathing, but because this isn’t your ideal situation the doctor gives you the option to end her life. You’re obviously not going to do that, It’s ridiculous that he even thought of this as an option! That is your mother whose job was to protect you and she took care of you and she is alive. We think that the option of murdering in this situation is crazy and wrong but why is it not insane to kill a living, breathing, and heart beating child? You made this baby whether it was planned or not you need to
Everyone of you hearing this, whether I’m reading it to you or you are reading it yourself need to understand that you need to thank god your mothers wanted you. We are blessed by each person on this Earth, including you. Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Pope John Paul II, even Steve Jobs were almost victims of abortion. Could we imagine a world without the technological advances discovered by Jobs? No matter what your point of view is, whether Pro Choice or Pro Life, the fact alone that your mother did not think you were “inconvienient” or “a financial leech” should be enough to make you Pro Life. Of course it isn’t always this simple, but no matter what, you’re here. Count yourself lucky that you were given the right to life. Now, why is it just that you get to breathe the same air as I, yet millions of abortions are occuring each year? Let me rephrase that. Why is it that you live and say you are Pro Choice when there are milliions of babies, innocent lives killed each year? No matter how many times you say it isn’t viable therefore it doesn’t have a right to life doesn’t change that it is indeed a life. Someone (Pro Choice obviously) brought up to me the point that bacteria is life. Why do we get to use
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live? How would you feel if you were never given the chance to come into the world and contribute to the human race? These are some of the questions an individual needs to ask when considering having abortion. Abortion, in my opinion, is immoral and unjust simply because it is murder. A brutal murder of a being who has not even seen the world and a huge injustice to a helpless fetus who might have been the next Einstein, President, or the person who would find a cure to cancer. Morality says that every person has the right not to be unjustly killed. Hence, this right also apply to any unborn child. The thought of an individual killing his/her own unborn child is always lurking in the back of my mind because it’s hard to assert the harm being caused by the unborn child to the mother or to the society in general. If we say abortion is morally right, then we are against procreation and procreation is one of the major contributions of a human being to his or her society and the world at large. The act of procreation is one of the most beautiful things in the world. To make a human being, being able to watch that kid grow into an adult and actually be responsible to the society, should be a very fulfilling experience for any mother. I hereby oppose the principle of paternalism because I don’t believe it is moral to take away or destroy the life of an unborn child to save the life of the mother because there is no harm caused by the unborn child but I support the harm principle because abortion in general, causes harm to the unborn child, his future, the mother and the society. Therefore, I subscribe to Don Marquis view on Abortion in his article “Why abortion is immoral”.
Today, abortion has become one of the greatest controversies throughout the world. The debate on whether or not abortion should become a legal option continues to dismember not only Americans, but citizens of other countries. There are people who believe abortion is a women’s civil right, and those who consider it as an immoral act. There are those who believe personhood begins at birth, and those who believe personhood begins from the moment of conception. Many contradictory statements lead to the separation of two groups: pro-choice and pro-life. While a pro-choice supports a women’s “right to privacy”, pro-life supporters are against such an action considering it murder, but why force a female to go through such a dramatic change because of a pregnancy?
As I was doing research, I came across an article by Napolitano and I found a startling statistic:
Some people view it as murder while others see it as an alternate way of birth control. A popular debate in today’s society concerns whether abortion is the termination of the life of a fetus, or rather a way to terminate a pregnancy. Abortion is a voluntary medical procedure in which the embryo or fetus is removed from the uterus to terminate a pregnancy. The thought of abortion has gotten very popular among young adults over the last few decades and have caused many different opinions to rise, this seems to be caused by the evolution of technology in science making abortion cheaper and much safer. However, in the 1800s this was not the case, abortion was banned in Canada, as a result, illegal operations were popular, and in some cases death
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
Abortion was legally being done since 1880 in the United States. During that time, many states have started to ban abortion. Even though abortion was illegal in many places, it was still being practiced. Many by licensed physicians. They “risked losing their license to perform the abortions”. Even though abortion was illegal in most states, women all over the United States were getting abortion illegally. Some even performed self-abortions with “hanger and needles”. “Also many women would go to other countries and get an abortion”. Many felt the banning abortions was a way to limit women’s rights which led to many court cases. (ourbodiesourselves.org)
“One woman dies every 7 minutes around the world due to an unsafe illegal abortion” (Abortion Statistics). Laws against abortion do not stop abortion; they just make them less safe. “For over 15 years, medical evidence has indicated that mifepristone is as safe or safer than commonly used medications” (Mifepristone Safety Overview). Mifepristone, also known as “RU-486” or the “abortion pill” is a prescription drug that is used to end a pregnancy that is less than seven weeks along. Mifepristone has been used, in combination with other medications for medical abortions since 1988. Mifepristone is a steroid that works by blocking the hormone progesterone, which is necessary to sustain pregnancy. Without this hormone, the lining of the uterus breaks down, the cervix (opening of the uterus or womb) softens and bleeding begins. I think that the RU-486 abortion pill should be encouraged because taking it is a pro-choice decision, the rare health risks and it could help reduce injuries and deaths caused by unsafe illegal abortions.
I am Kendall Holland, I am an eighteen-year old, female senior at a small Nebraska high school. I am writing you in regards to the talk that goes on about abortion procedures becoming illegal. I am aware that nothing has been passed yet, but with so many changes happening in our country I can’t seem but be worried about this topic.
Women should have the right to decide whether or not they would like to have an abortion. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines abortion as; “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.” The idea of a woman’s right to have an abortion being taken away is merely incomprehensible.
