Abortion Persuasive Essay
These days, mothers who have unexpected pregnancies think that abortion is the only way out of having a baby when they are not prepared or ready, but there are many other options. They don’t want people to know that they had a unplanned pregnancy. Choosing abortion can have a very bad long-term effect on the mother after she has the procedure. Since abortion is the killing of an innocent child, the fetus does feel the pain which is very upsetting. So why exactly would a mother choose this knowing all of the negative effects? Women should choose an option other than abortion if they are unprepared to have a child.

Many people always wonder about whether or not fetuses can feel the pain during the procedure, and they for sure can. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act acknowledges that “Abortions on most babies 20 weeks and older on the basis that they feel pain when they are ripped apart limb by limb in dismemberment”(Chretien). During this age, they are said to feel more pain than the mother. To stop the baby from breathing, they inject digoxin which is a poisonous substance. At this point, the baby can feel the needle going through its body. They even suction out all the amniotic fluid which asphyxiates the baby. There are several different opinions on whether or not the fetus can feel the pain during this, but that is beside the point, because how could someone even do this to an innocent child who has a right to life. Aultman, a pro-life activist points out that “We didn’t give them local [anesthesia] or anything else. We just operated on them. And it was a horrible experience because they yelled, they screamed, they cried, they just – they quivered”(Aultman). She is most likely implying how the baby would feel during an abortion procedure by showing an adult getting a procedure such as getting a hand amputated and …show more content…
Putting the baby up for adoption is one way to reduce the number of abortions that happen. This would give the women who can’t conceive a chance to have a baby who is unwanted. According to Planned Parenthood, “The organization performed 327,166 abortions and only 2,197 adoption referrals. That equals just 1 adoption for every 149 abortions.” Putting the baby for adoption would be very hard for the mother mentally and physically, but the good result of that is knowing the baby is safe with a great family. The family who receives the baby finds joy in knowing the baby is alive and
Some people who are for abortion say that the baby can be put up for adoption. While they can be, there are already four hundred thousand children up for adoption in the United States of America. Only, one fourth of those kids are waiting
Every day, an overwhelming amount of human beings’ lives are terminated. The culprit: unwanted pregnancies. Many woman are (not by choice), becoming pregnant as a result of unsafe sex, rape, and other things. So what is one to do when they discover that they’re pregnant? They have some alternatives: (1) have the child and raise it (2) have the child, then give it up for adoption (3) get an abortion. Sadly, many women choose alternative three, unaware of what they’re getting themselves into.
Abortion, like any other medical procedure, carries some risks. When one considers, however, that “the risk of death associated with childbirth is about 10 times as high as that associated with abortion” (“Know the Facts”), the threat of abortion suddenly does not seem as perilous. Additionally, contrary to popular misconception, abortion does not contribute to future infertility or development of breast cancer. It is therefore safer and more prudent to have an abortion than an unwanted pregnancy.
The most common conflicts that cause a woman to get an abortion are based on their own personal responsibilities. Sixteen percent of women, who get abortions, believe that their life would be changed too much to acquire a child. Twenty-one percent of expectant mothers feel that they are not ready for the responsibility to care for an adolescent. Few as twelve percent have complications with relationships or are unmarried. One perecent have been raped and/or incested. Twenty-one percent have financial disputes. Eight percent currently bare children and have all they wish for. Three percent have discovered that the baby in the womb has health issues. Four perecent of the abortions are other reasons. Lastly, the abortion pill used to minimize the fetus, does not work, therefore the woman receives an
The majority of women who follow through with getting an abortion receive it in the first trimester of their pregnancy, this causing less of a stress to the body since it has not had a fertile egg in the body for a long time. Studies show that less than one percent of women who have an abortion have future medical problems. Research has showed and proved that the only risk of death and future medical problems would be if the procedure was conducted by an inexperienced person, who does not do the procedure correctly (Cohen,
Abortion has been considered a controversy in the United States for many years. Abortion is the “expulsion of the fetus from the uterus.” (Robert H. Lauer) There are two different types of abortion, miscarriage and induced abortion. Women decided to have abortions for many different reasons and use it as a birth control plan. Many women decide that they can’t have the baby due to schooling, work, money and other responsibilities. Also, many women decide not to have the baby because they are single and don’t want to raise the child alone. (Robert H. Lauer) Although abortion has been legal in the United states recently, it was not legal in many states until 1973. (Thomson Reuters)
Many women who carry unexpected or unwanted children are left to decide between keeping the child, adoption, abortion and maybe foster care. Most of the time the decision is just between adoption and abortion. In that case, the mother is losing the child either way. Most of the time choosing adoption or foster care would be a better choice than abortion because the pregnancy would end by giving life instead of death. Adoption and foster care are an opportunity for people who wish to be parents, but are not able to have a child of their own to finally become parents or people who have children of their own, but want to add-on to their family.

Women may suffer from this for their entire lives. ...
When women feel as though there is no way out of their pregnancy, they feel as though there is no other option but to terminate. There is adoption available because many women are in the look for becoming mothers but they can’t do it for their own reasons and you are just thinking of getting rid of that baby’s life. As you can see I am against abortion and one reason I think like this, is because of the he simple fact that the fetus, as many people call it, is a life from the moment of conception. Nowadays abortion is one method for all of those teenagers who don’t want to be parents for their young age but what we all need to pay attention is that there are many contraceptive methods to prevent an unwanted
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. According to the Oxford dictionary, the term abortion can be defined as, the deliberate termination of human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. There are two different types of abortion; a spontaneous abortion, which is also known as a miscarriage, and an induced abortion, where the embryo or fetus is purposely removed from the women’s body. The topic of induced abortion has been widely debated for hundreds of years. The issue of abortion was argued way back in the time of the ancient Hebrews. Today many people consider abortion to be murder, but shouldn’t the soon-to-be mother 's right to make such a personal and heartbreaking choice be
Abortion has been a controversial topic in the U.S ever since it became legal in 1973 after the Roe v. Wade case. Abortion is defined as the, “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Pro-life supporters believe that abortion is unethical and argue that it is the mother’s responsibility to own up to her actions. They also argue that there is always the option of adoption, and that abortion could be very dangerous. I am pro-life and believe that the government doesn’t have the right to decide what a woman can or can’t do with her body.
Many women describe it as a privilege and miracle, while others consider the act itself of conceiving and carrying another human being as an inexplicable feeling. Those women that enjoy the opportunity of being a mother cherish every moment and appreciate it as a wonderful gift. Although this stands as a beautiful thing, there exists women choosing to abort. Women of all ages may face the decision of whether or not to terminate the life that they carry in their womb through the abortion process. Nevertheless, late term abortion results in terrifying consequences. The procedure causes health complications for the mother, inflicts pain on a living fetus, and kills the unborn baby.
There are 1.5 million adopted children in the United States. (Fields, Jason,) If the parents weren't ready to have to a child, instead of abortion there's adoption. There are different types of adoption. Foster care adoption is the adoption of children in state care for whom reunification with their birth parents is not possible for safety or other reasons. Private adoption can be arranged either through an agency or through independent adoption. Adoption is a lot safer than abortion, if people knew the facts about abortion i bet they'd rather give their child for adoption rather than having an abortion.
A person being pregnant and wishing they weren't is probably the worst feelings a woman can have. A women knowing that if they brought a child into the world and they didn't want it, or they would have to give it up for adoption is such a disheartening way to start off, and mother and the un-born child would be so much better off if they were to terminate the pregnancy and wait for a more appropriate time, or in the case of rape, put the past behind them and move on. Women should have the choice because not everyone knows what the situation was. In today’s society people have attached shame with the word abortion. When people hear of abortions they automatically assume it was the mothers fault and she didn’t use protection or may...
