Introduction This essay will not be based on whether it is morally wrong to kill a foetus, but whether it is, morally wrong to not allow a woman to have an abortion. There are many elements to be considered when a woman decides whether she will have an abortion or not. There are the elements of whether she is capable of having a child, of keeping it, caring for it and so on and whatever she thinks or decides should she be supported in her decision. In this essay it will also be discussed what a state could do by giving them a choice, not promoting abortion, but allowing a woman to be able to make up her own mind, by not being judged but by being supported, educated and choosing what she feels is right for her. In Brazil 1.5 million women have abortions of which 250,000 are hospitalised and many die (Arthur, 1999). However these tend to be poor woman as they cannot afford suitable medical care. It should be that if abortion is legal in a country it should be cheap enough for women from all different backgrounds to be able to have an abortion, it does not make sense that a woman would have to bear a child she cannot afford to have, because she cannot afford the abortion.
