What is Abigail Williams' function and purpose in the plot of the play? Abigail Williams is like a ringleader among the girls, she is also there to spread hysteria and huge hype among the villagers. Abigail seems to be

a very forceful and cunning character and straight away forms herself as leader in the midst of the girls.

"Now look you. We danced. And Tituba conjured Ruth Putnam's dead

sisters. And that is all. Let either of you breathe a word, or the

edge of a word, about the other things" From this quote when Abigail

was addressing the girls we see how she structure's herself as leader

by telling what to say and what not to. The structure of that what

Abigail said demonstrates that she was being forceful and stern

because of the short but firm sentences.

Abigail and her relation's with other characters. We all know that she

had an affair with John Proctor and she tries to entice him back into

this relationship.

"Give me a word, John. A soft word" from this we can see how devious

she is when she tries to start this relationship up again but John

turns it down "No, no, Abby. That's done with" But Abigail does not

stop we see how assertive she is trying to get her way by any means

and she results to taunting him " You can five mile to see a silly

girl fly? I Know you better" She is trying to say that John only came

so he could be with her. Abigail is not on good conditions with John's

wife Elizabeth we can see how Abigail debases her "she is blanking my

name in the village! She is telling lies about me! She is a cold,

snivelling woman, and you bend to her! Let her turn you like a"

What are Abigail's interactions and how does she relate to other

characters in the play? She is very close within her assembly of

friends, but how do we know this? There a various examples of how this

is true we see how she takes the lead in the court starting off things

that the other girls follow. Abigail abhors Elizabeth and visa versa

That's a quote form Abigail, her interactions with Elizabeth is very

slight we can see this when she was passing through the house how she
