It took 3 years to build the Titanic, and it was finally finished. (Titanic Universe.) I wouldn’t think much of it at all, as I wouldn’t care because I would never have the money for it. But one day as I was gambling, instead of gaining money I got two tickets to ride on the Titanic all the way to New York. You see, I’m a very stubborn person. I was about to argue about the fact that I would rather just have money than a dumb ticket. Although I knew that some lower class people like I were going to be on there, I also knew that the richest, snottiest people were going to be on this voyage. (Bob Temple.) But my friend, Jimin, talked me into it. She told me the experience would be amazing, we could meet new people, and even get to go to New …show more content…
She has rosy pink cheeks almost all the time that look great with her tanned skin. She’s around 5’9 which is taller than most women I know, including myself. She has short black hair and rounded glasses. She’s the smarter friend and always helps me with my decisions. After the tall, white men handed us our tickets and Jimin convinced me to take them, we ran to get on the ship. Neither of us had the money to buy any clothes, and the only clothes we took were the ones we had on our body. The ship is huge. She’s probably bigger than the biggest building you’ve ever seen with her four huge steam engines. (Anne Marie Welsh) It took a long time for the line to finally move. We walked up the plank and up to the guard. He never checked any of the first class’s tickets. He probably knew that they were already real and wouldn’t scam their way onto the boat. As for the third class passengers, he made sure to check each and every one of ours. When it was our turn, we were pushed so close to him that I could smell the alcohol and cologne on his shirt. He didn’t speak to us and he only looked at us for a split second and never looked back at us. The large man grabbed the tickets from each of our hands and checked them front and back. He then muttered a quiet and almost unhearable
The Commander of the division to which I belonged, as soon as soon as we were on board the ship, appointed me to boatswain, and ordered me to go to the captain and demand of him the keys to the hatches and a dozen candles. I made the demand accordingly, and the captain promptly replied, and delivered the articles; but requested me at the same time to do no damage to the ship or the rigging. We then were ordered to ...
As the ship plowed the sea for eight days, the chugging rhythm of its engines reverberated in Ted’s head: Da-da-DA-da-da-DUM-DUM, da-DA-da-da-DUM (Morgan, 80). Even after the Kungsholm had been docked for days, this rhythm was still stuck in his head. Taking Helen’s suggestion, he set out to develop a story around the rhythm, using the shipboard notes that began with “a stupid horse and a wagon (Morgan, 81).
...I was carried on board. I was immediately handled and tossed up to see if I was sound, by some of the crew; and I was now persuaded that I had got into a world of bad spirits, and that they were going to kill me. Their complexions too, differing so much from ours, their long hair, and the language they spoke, which was very different from any I had ever heard, united me to confirm in this belief.*(33)
I am writing my first entry aboard this incredible vessel today, primarily because I have been spending the last three days exploring the sections open to my fellow third-class passengers and I. What I have seen is extraordinary, especially when first boarding the ship. The halls and staircases of the first class section were like nothing I had ever seen before in my life. They were blanketed in luxury from end to end. The first class passengers I had managed to see wore their best garments boarding the ship and were conversing with each other about their rich lives back home. I believe I even saw Mr. John Jacob Astor, a man I had heard much about for his contributions to the American fur trade. I had heard that he would be aboard for the maiden voyage of ...
After we turn and run around the train, we couple up and wait to depart. While we’re waiting, there’s a crew change in the dispatcher’s office. The new dispatcher correctly calculates our train weight to be 8900 tons. This was more than we expected and could handle.....
The men were held captive, endured the sweltering heat, filthy conditions of the cargo hold and had barely enough space to sit upright. Women and children had slightly better conditions as they were positioned on deck under the watchful eyes of the crew. They were forced to dance when the weather permit or would be flogged by the cat-o’-nine-tails. Many tried to escape the terrible experience by throwing themselves overboard or starving themselves to death, to prevent this they crew kept a watchful eye on their movements on the decks.
Patrick Waters, a hardworking young man, came aboard the Titanic in hopes of proving himself to his mother. Patrick finds it hard to just fit in because of his overly large ears and long hair. While Patrick is working to prove himself, Mr. Archibald Rockwell, a heavyset Florentine man, is onboard in hopes of stealing Mr. Widener’s rare copy of Sir Francis Bacon’s Essaies, which is said to have a secret message inside its pages. Mr. Harry Elkins Widener is an extremely intelligent man who loves books. He is only onboard for the experience.
The Titanic Maiden Voyage was a disaster, because at the time it was the largest boat in the world. The Titanic was thought to be unsinkable, she was described as as a gigantic lifeboat. There was 2,201 men.women, and children on board A lot of people died (about 1,503) on the terrible disaster of the titanic. This could have been avoided, but the speed was too fast so slow down for anything. The whole was ignoring the distress of icebergs and that's why they crashed. Its sister ship was closest (The Californian) the radio handler had fell asleep. The lifeboats were not even filled up but they didn't even wanna save the lower class.
White Star Line an industry leader wanted to build the most luxurious passenger ships in the world, and they did exactly that. April 10th, 1912, 2,206 people set sail on the largest boat ever made at the time, the RMS Titanic. Setting sail from Southampton, England after several stops in Cherbourg, France and Cobh, the ending destination was supposed to be New York. Sadly the Titanic never made it to New York nor did all 2,208 passengers. The Titanic hit an iceberg at about 11:30 p.m. on April 14th. This colossal iceberg slashed a 300-foot gash below the ship’s waterline. More than 1,500 people lost their lives on the Titanic, taking roughly 3 hours to sink. There was enough life vest of all those on the Titanic, but there weren’t enough lifeboats.
The most extravagant ship your mind could possibly fathom still does not compare to the Titanic. The Word titanic even originates from a Greek Mythology word meaning “gigantic”. The Titanic was not built for speed, but built for luxury and size. The boat was commonly called “the unsinkable ship”. The ship’s first voyage was from Southampton in England, to New York in the United States. There were 2,228 people aboard the Titanic, counting passengers and crew members. Unfortunately the boat was only equipped 20 (the legal minimum) life boats, enough for only 1,178 people. No one could have predicted the horrifying events that would happen to “unsinkable ship”.
On March 31, 1909 White Star Line Shipping Company began construction for a ship known as the RMS Titanic. The ship was almost 900 feet long and weighed over 46 thousand tons. The Titanic was the largest ship to hit the seas during its time and it was built to be extremely sturdy. It was built so sturdy that White Star Line advertised the ship as unsinkable. In fact, the crew building the ship was so confident in its structure that they did not put enough life boats for everybody on the ship. Ironically on its very first voyage, the RMS Titanic met its end when it crashed into an iceberg and split in half. Over 1500 people died in this tragedy. However contrary to popular belief, the Titanic sinking was not an accident. This was one of the
It wasn’t anyone's fault it was the radio people and the making of the Titanic. If you want to learn why I think it is them is because I think it is obvious and easy to point out. Keep reading and then you would find out why I picked them. So the next few paragraphs I am going to tell you why.
We got into our lines, behind groups of excited families and happy little old men and women. As the line ascended up the ramp onto this enormous water vessel, pictures were taken of every group of passengers. Smile, laugh and look happy! Riiight. As a matter of fact, I was pretty anxious. I'd never been on a boat like this, and especially not for a whole week.
It has been more than a century since the Royal Mail Steamer, Titanic, met its tragic ending the Atlantic Ocean, during its voyage to America. Instead of reaching New York, its final destination was in the deep ocean on April 15, 1912. Titanic’s creators believed the ship was “unsinkable” ship and could not be defeated by the laws of nature (Ryan 28). This boldness explains the emotional impact the sinking had on the public. There was a disbelief that the ship could have sunk due to slow and unreliable communication. Many newspapers in the beginning reported that the ship had collided with an iceberg and but remained floating and was being towed to port with everyone on board (Reade 23). It took many hours for truth to become available, people still had trouble accepting that ship could sink with taking more than 1,500 lives.
After what seemed like forever, we finally arrived at the airport. It was such a long line to check in our bags, but our flight was at 10pm and we had some time to spare. By the time we got to security, we were in good shape. I always hated going through security and having to take my shoes off and my belt; it was always a lug. Everyone got through security, except for me. I waited for the signal to walk through, but it never happened. The security guard motioned towards me when talking to another guard. I couldn’t hear anything they were saying, but I assumed it had something to do with my bags. I hadn’t brought anything danger...
