A Father's Love
I lived in the city with my father. Recently, I bought a new house
which is light, large and comfortable. But since we lived in the new
house, my father always had been tired. He was often sleeping in bed,
loudly snoring in the day. The snore that reverberated in the whole
new house made me unable to focus on my work and I couldn't sleep
well. Because I was a freedom contributor who sometimes worked in the
night and sometimes slept in the daytime. Because I wanted to earn the
money to live, pay off the debt and buy the new house. I had an
occupational disease of neurasthenia, so I needed a quiet situation
for resting and working. And also I was afraid that he maybe had some
senile illness. Because I knew some people who were the same age as my
father had senile dementia.
I tried to persuade him to see the doctor, again and again, but he
didn't agree with me and said that he was fine. One day, I couldn't
bear his loud snoring anymore when I was writing. I complained of that
after he woke. Then my fathe...
“The Father” by Carolyn Osborn is a story about Darwin and Casey, a couple who meet and begin a whirlwind love affair. This love affair leads to an unexpected pregnancy. Casey, the mother, leaves when the baby is just one month old only to return when the child is three years old. Soon, Darwin is caught in a court battle for custody of a son. Two days before the court date, Darwin discovers he is not the biological father of the child. This makes no difference to Darwin as he has loved and cared for the child since he was born. The central idea of this story is that sometimes the best parent isn’t always the biological parent.
A father can play many roles throughout a child’s life: a caregiver, friend, supporter, coach, protector, provider, companion, and so much more. In many situations, a father takes part in a very active position when it comes to being a positive role model who contributes to the overall well-being of the child. Such is the case for the father in the poem “Those Winter Sundays” by Robert Hayden. In this poem, readers are shown the discreet ways in which a father can love his child. On the other hand, there are also many unfortunate situations where the fathers of children are absent, or fail to treat the children with the love and respect that they undoubtedly deserve. In the contrasting poem “Like Riding a Bicycle” by George Bilgere, readers are shown how a son who was mistreated by his drunken father is affected by their past relationship many years later. Although both of these poems have fairly similar themes and literary techniques, they each focus on contradicting situations based on the various roles a father can play in a child’s life.
Friendship means different things for everyone. It can mean happiness and trust. Friends are important to connect to, talk to, and to help in tough situations. Friends help teach life lessons. Most importantly, friends are there to love and to feel loved. The Simple Gift by Steven Herrick revolves around the friendship between the main characters, Old Bill, Billy, and Caitlin. Their friendship resulted in them learning valuable life lessons and experiencing the power of love.

One of the biggest influences that I had when coming to this decision was my family. When I was younger I never realized how much we struggled financially. I always had new clothes, enough to eat, a roof over my head, etc. It wasn’t
During the early seventeenth century, poets were able to mourn the loss of a child publicly by writing elegies, or poems to lament the deceased. Katherine Philips and Ben Jonson were two poets who wrote the popular poems “On the Death of My Dearest Child, Hector Philips”, “On My First Son”, and “On My First Daughter” respectively. Although Philips and Jonson’s elegies contain obvious similarities, the differences between “On the Death of My Dearest Child” and “On My First Son” specifically are pronounced. The emotions displayed in the elegies are very distinct when considering the sex of the poet. The grief shown by a mother and father is a major theme when comparing the approach of mourning in the two elegies.

Buying and owning your home is part of the American dream. Although the dream itself has since changed, the home still remains the main focal point. Today owning a home doesn’t necessarily mean a house. People now buy duplexes, cooperative apartments, and condominiums. For some families it could take up to a couple of generations before it’s able to have the capabilities of buying a home. To many people it means a certain achievement that only comes after years of hard work. It is a life altering decision and one of the most important someone can make in their lifetime. The reasons behind the actual purchase could vary. Before anything is done, people must understand that it’s an extraneous process and it is a long term project.
Being loved and accepted is a basic human need. One of the forms of love and acceptance comes from parental love. A growing body of research shows that the quality of parent-child relationships, characterized either in the form of love and acceptance (loving) or hatred and rejecting (lack of love) may have implication on a person’s behavior, cognition, and emotion. Vast array of studies state that the type of relationship exist in parent-child relation is a major predictor for the development of for offspring’s (children and adult) psychosocial functioning, such as mental health, behavioral traits and academic achievement (Tam, Lee, Kumarasuria & Har, 2012). For example, Naz and Kausar (2013) found that perceived rejection of parents is related to the development of maladjusted personalities and depressive symptoms in female participants. Based on their study, perceived parental rejection correlates positively with females’ maladjusted behaviors and depression.
When someone thinks about the definition of a father, he or she thinks about the support, care, love, and knowledge a father gives to his offspring. Most people automatically believe that biological fathers, along with the mothers, raise their children. However, that is not always the case. There are many children across the world who are raised without their father. These children lack a father figure. People do not realize how detrimental the lack of a father figure can be to the child, both mentally and emotionally. Enrolling boys between the ages of 5 to 16 without father figures in programs, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, that involve building a relationship with someone who can serve as a role model is essential to prevent males from depression, difficulty in expressing emotions, and other consequences of having an absent father figure.

There are times when you don’t know what to do or times when you might feel like you have no help in this world, but there is always that one person who never fails to give you the best advice in life, and that is your father. I have so much respect for any father out there that works hard, and always supports his family no matter what his imperfections might be. My father has got to be the best one in my opinion. He has been the biggest inspiration in my life because he taught me so much stuff in this life that I can’t find a way to pay him. He has been a very humble person and has never seen himself better than anyone else because he believes he is equal to any other father. In my opinion he is the best even though he says he isn’t. My father had imperfections just like any other human being in this world, yet he still taught me how to be a great person in this world by teaching me good morals. “Never Give Up, and believe in God and you will accomplish what you want in life” are words my father always tells me to remember.
Pope John XXIII once said, “It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father”. It is easy for a father to have children, but a challenge for the father to be in the life of the child. My mother grew up without a father. She did not get to meet him until her late twenties. My father's father lost his life at an early age due to gun violence. I, on the other, hand had both of my biological parents.
