Dumbfounded would be an understatement in this context in the de-scription of Karsen’s mood. Visibly confused and staring at them, she kept wondering how she got here in the first instance. Meeting Donovan, befriending Donavan, the kidnapping and the traveling through a timeline all seemed incredible and yet fascinating to her. If Karsen hadn’t stepped through a mirage into a clearly futuristic world, she would have thought they were crazy. As it was, she had little choice but to assume that if she wasn’t dreaming the whole thing, Donovan and the Professor were telling the truth. Tennant looked at Donovan and said, “Agent Donovan seems you should return Miss Karsen back to her timeline and continue your in-vestigation. Seems the kidnappers gave us a lead to work …show more content…
“You had me worried dear,” responded her Mum. Karsen said, “I am sorry Mum.” She went to her room to change her clothes, with her mother telling her to get back down to dinner soon. Karsen got to her room and took off her clothes and went into the bathroom for a quick shower. A few minutes’ shower was all Karsen needed to feel relieved. She came out of the shower, standing naked in front of the mirror. She always liked her physical attributes. Karsen could easily passed for a beauty queen, with a lovely height and slim body yet with the curves in the right places. She admired herself in the mirror and smiled. Karsen put on fresh clothes and went down to have dinner with her family. At the table sitting down were her father and two brothers. She sat down while her mother came back from the kitchen, settling down to have a perfect family dinner. Everything seemed normal there. It wasn’t Karsen who was held in the kidnapper’s den a few hours ago today, but rather a simple college girl having dinner with her family. She smiled to herself and said to herself, “You all don’t know that a hell lot went down today.” In seemed like her father read her
"Skin blemishes made it impossible for me to really enjoy myself. I was always worrying about the way I looked" (Brumberg, p. 87). Woman all around the world share the same problem, they feel unhappy and self-conscious with the appearance of their bodies. In The Body Project by Joan Jacobs Brumberg, she successfully illustrates the way adolescents begin to change focus from inner to outer beauty in the early 19th and 20th centuries. Through use of personal diaries and historical research, Brumberg shows her readers the physical differences between girls then and now.
She then shifts to discussing TV shows that bring family members together such as Sally Jesse Raphael or Oprah. As the mother imagines what it will be like when her daughter comes home, she brings out the imagery of tears and wrapped arms, and since we have all seen these shows, the reader can see the stage set up with four chairs and the daughter waiting for the parents to come out on stage. We can see the look of surprise on the daughter's face as they come out onto the stage. She has not seen her daughter, Dee, for a while and imagines b...
Sure, some of us have this great confidence within ourselves about looking great, but that does not hold true for everyone. I understand the pain or disgust, or even disappointment one feels when they look in the mirror and say, “I wish I could change this or that about myself”. Although this piece is written about the author’s life, it holds meaning and connects with for many people; one only has to dig deep enough to find one. For me, it was to realize what is important in life can change, adapt and that we must explore our inner selves and find our own path in life.

Her mom came into the room rubbing her eyes. “Is everything ok? What’s going on?”
I remember the night they were taken like it was yesterday. The family at the end of the cul-de-sac sat down for dinner. Lydia and her younger brother, Aaron squabbled over who gets to sit where and Mr. and Mrs. Claymont gave up trying to separate them. The dinner passes unusually quiet, Aaron who is a very loquacious young boy stayed silent except for a few words to pass the potatoes. Lydia doesn't talk much, she's troubled by her friend, May. May’s around Lydia's age, almost eight and a very spirited girl. Lately she hasn’t been herself, usually she never does the same thing at recess twice, but for the past week she's stayed inside.
It was about one-thirty in the morning in the town of Homestead Michigan. The almost florescent light of the moon bouncing off the fresh puddles that covered the ground. The grass and trees were covered in a thin layer of water causing every little beam of light to reflect back up. Anyone who may have been outside at this time would have without double, smelled the mix of fresh dirt and night crawlers. As the moonlight started to fade away through the cloud cover, three buses made there way through the streets and parked in front of HHS, the local high school.
There was a girl named Kandy, she was 15 years old. Her life was extremely boring, all she ever did was go to school, go on her computer, eat and sleep. She spent all summer on her computer. She was really good with HTML and spent her free time making web sites. Kandy didn't have many friends and rarely talked to guys because she was shy and unconfident about her looks. That's why she went into chat rooms. She made a web site with pictures of herself on it and told people in chat rooms to go there. A lot of people would tell her how pretty she was and some would say she was ugly. That made her feel awful. When anyone would say anything nice to her, she wouldn't believe them and think that they were just making fun of her. She only had one real friend that she could talk to, her name was Ang.
Kayden continued on with going through the pantry for something to eat; her goal was to find something small and not a giant meal. The pantry was pretty scarce, which may be the reason why her mom went out to buy some more food. A long sigh left her lips, leaving her in the middle of the kitchen with no kind of food. She gave up on looking for anything and decided to grab the last bottled water and head back into her room. The idea of Michael coming to her house for dinner was quite a head spinner. She didn't want to like come off as too awkward or just have her mom or brother end up embarrassing her. All the things that could go wrong in her head were some of the cliche things that you would see on a television show or in a film, so none of
Cold. Cold like snow without gloves. Cold that makes your eyes feel as if they are being digested. Cold. My steps echoed upon the old crackling wood floor. The pace of the echoing sounds quickened. My hands pushed in the door which gave a tired moan. Doosh, Doosh, Doosh - i landed upon the frictionless concrete. The vastness of the world lay before me. Then, like the geese of the north the door fled into oblivion. With haste i hopped inside the van, the roar of a million horrors sound out into the streets. I was carried away…
