In chronicle of a death foretold, culture illustrates the contribution of a tragedy.Santiago Nasar, a young man who was murdered under the feudal culture.Throughout this translated work,culture, takes a different position by showing its contemporary value to involved this tragedy. In this novel, fedual culture repersents a distortion which people misunderstanding the role of culture and manipulated themselves under feudal rules.In doing so, Santiago’s death questioning the ethical point of view of the town people who didn’t stop the tragedy occur and how lack of humanity occur in their feudal society.

The characters in the novel actually relevant to the real world that people behave on the attribution of different significance to the realities within the social value. The whole town people are victimized because they ignore the tragedy occurs and show their lack of humanity. Angela Vicario is the victim who depicted the double standard between women and man in the society. After being returned to her family, Angela Vicario revealed that she has perimental sex with Santiago Nasar.During the 1800’s Columbia society,women should keep their virginity until they married. Premarital sex is dishonorable to women. “The only thing they believe is what they see,they told her.And they taught her old wive's tricks to feign her lost possession,so that on her first morning as a newlywed she could display open under the sun in the courtyard of her house the linen sheet with the stain of honor.”(Marquez 38) It illustrate how honor were become an important valuation of honor to women. Also, Angela Vicario is guilty for her false claim that Santiago is the victim who took away her honor.Angela Vicario’s act reflecting on their social value of how people tried to meet the standards that require by the society.Flora Miguel also guilty that she wishes the Vicario brothers to kill Santiago Nasar.
