Should We Adopt The 4-Day School Week? Imagine only having to go to school 4 days a week, for some kids that's a reality. Some topics I will be discussing in this paper are, where do students go on the Monday/Friday they have off, will the district save money without the extra day off, and how do kids perform in class without the extra day. The four day school week is a relatively new idea that some school are beginning to implement in rural areas. The shorter week can help the schools save money without the extra day to have the school operating, the school have also seen unexpected positive changes like students performing better on tests, higher grades, and better behavior. The 4-day school week has minimal flaws compared to a 5-day school …show more content…
Student moral increases allowing for higher test scores. It also leads to better attendance and better behavior leading to less kids being removed from the classroom. Some issues are the longer school days can have an impact on students focus later in the day. But most issues don't compare to the benefits. So it seems clear that the 4-day school week shines in comparison to the 5-day school week. The four day school week is a relatively new idea that some school are beginning to implement in rural areas. The 4-day school week has minimal flaws compared to a 5-day school week, the only major flaw is who will supervise the students while they're not in school. I think the 4-day school week should definitely be considered to be implemented in less rural …show more content…

Just the existence of an extra free day allows students to get more homework done and have more time. For example, if you have a project that takes at least three days to complete, and you were absent one day, this will give you extended time to finish your project. My next point coincides with my first one; that having an extra day without school “stretches” work time. This means that students will have more time to do a project or homework, which means that students won’t feel as pressured, which means that the quality of the homework is much higher. My next point also coincides with the previous point; that students won’t feel as pressured and worried as a two day weekend.
Colby Public Schools most certainly should switch to a four-day school week as it will lead to a saving of money, better in-depth interaction, and finally more family, friend, and work time. There are currently a number of schools who have made the brave move by switching from a five day school schedule to a four day schedule. In fact, The Education Commission has estimated that hundreds of districts in 17 states have made the transition. Also, there are state officials present within Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon and all have reported increases in the four-day schedule. It is a movement that grows by the month and is the way forward in education. Colby Public Schools absolutely should transition

As part of the traditional school calendar kids get about ten weeks out of school for summer break. Commonly that time filled with summer camps, family vacation, summer jobs, and relaxation. During the long summer break children forget some of the things learned during the school year and require a lot of time reviewing when class resumes. Richard L. Students test scores are slipping because of 4-day school weeks.I believe we shouldn’t have a 4-day school week because studies have shown that schools with 4-day school weeks test scores have declined in 2012 and even more in 2013.Teachers from every school with 4-day school weeks say that kids don’t pay attention because they add 30 minutes to each class time during the 4-day school week.Courtney Fisher is a second grade teacher. She says that the students seem tired all the time and eat much more in class.
Imagine students becoming stressed with the abundant amount of homework they have to accomplish, complaining about the lack of time and fun enjoyable tasks they have to leave out. Currently, District 211 has a five day school week but having a four day school week eradicates these problems, which could have a positive mental and physical effect. Currently, the four day school week is being used in more than 120 school districts across the country, in states including including New Hampshire, Colorado, and New Mexico. Use of the four day school week also extends to several provinces in Canada, France, and Britain. Considering the amount of districts that are executing a four day school week it is most reasonable to assume that they have significant
Now days, normal American students go to school 5 days in a week. However, some places over the United States operate 4 days of school week system. Those school surprisingly observe positive changes. Therefore, American schools should operate 4 days of school week because schools can save their budget costs, and students can have more time to enjoy outdoor activities, pursue additional educational goals and improve academic achievement since students are in less stressful environment.
School should be four days a week with an extra hour added to each school day because it would save money for the school system, increase student motivation, stimulate the economy, and promote student achievement. There has been a decrease in education due to the small amount of resources, causing classrooms to be bigger and children not being able to extend their knowledge. Even though the economy has been falling, each school district has been working hard to promote student education, which could mean trading a traditional school schedule for a four-day school week. Replacing a normal school schedule for the four day school week can raise the school budget tremendously. (Hart, Demand Media).

Schools are so much a part of our society, so the accurate length of school days is extremely important. Public opinions on the length of the school days are different. There are a lot of parents and professors concerned that it is hard for children to go to school early in the morning and stay there the whole day. On the other side, some professors try to force students into a nine hour school day. Not so many years ago, school was a main part of my life, and the school days’ structure and length affected my social life and ability to study. From my own experience and some studies that I have seen, students benefit if school days are long.
Since the beginning of human existence, humans have had the curiosity to learn new way of living. Teaching by the past generation to the next generation began a must in order to improve the way people have lived previously. A sort of schooling began to take place between families for future success. Fast forward to the 18th century when the first traditional schooling begins to take place. Although these were school were full of primarily white males, it was the next step in the education system.
