We would not be where we are today without the events that have happened in the past. The 20th century saw changes that were far reaching and re-shaped civilization as well as geography. With the events of World War II, it is certain that many countries had not only faced death, destruction, and overall loss, all at the cost to progressing the future of technology, civilization, and humanity as a species.

Benito Mussolini of Fascist Italy, described it as “All within the state, none outside the state, none against the state.” (1). With similar leaders now rising up, Adolf Hitler transformed Germany into a fascist Nazi Germany, while Joseph Stalin turned Russia into the Soviet Union. With Europe beginning to plunge into war, Japan invading China, Germany invading Poland and Russia, Britain defending itself from Germany’s brutal assault, the state of Europe was crumbling. Eventually, Europe would drag the world into its affairs. This brought on World War II. …show more content…

Germany was completely defeated, and the Nazis brought down. With Hitler dead by suicide, German cities were in ruin. Japan was devastated, two nukes, one killing 140,000 people, another 80,000 by the second one. (3) England, having experienced the brutality of the Blitz by Nazi forces, the economy depended on the aid of US. England and France no longer had a status even comparable to the US or Soviet Union. (1)

With this ruin, many countries had to be rebuilt. In the process, many technological progress was made during, and after the war. The radar, forerunner of TV, was developed by the English. The progress in electronics and computers provided a beginning for future development, which essentially transformed the postwar world. (2) The development of the nuke by European and American scientists also transformed the nature of future wars. It marked the beginning of the use of nuclear energy
