I recognize myself very energetic and social. I always give my true opinions about someone else’s work, but create an idea that can benefit them. And I am extremely persuasive over any subject I am passionate about. I would be a good fit for a public relations and fundraising manager because I am very social, I am recognized as a leader, and I am a bilingual individual. Being a social person gives me the benefit of having someone else’s trust and comfortability, in this case clients. “Managers deal with the public regularly; therefore, they must be friendly enough to build rapport and receive cooperation from their media contacts and donors” (). “...many must travel to give speeches and meet with individuals who are important to their organization” (). A public relations and fundraising manager includes traveling to various places. This can mean associating with a more spanish speaking collaborator. And since I am fluent in Spanish, I can work with them more efficiently than a non speaking spanish manager. Having a family of minorities, I know the intimidation and struggles non English speakers feel. Hiring me can make this company a comfortable zone for Spanish speaking clients. A bilingual employee can reduce the problem of trying to hire a translator and be available at all times. If you hire me, it can reduce the time of trying to hire a translator and be present at necessary times. I can be able to associate with Spanish speakers without worrying of having a translator. It is like two in one employee. If you hire me, it can reduce the time of trying to hire a translator and be present at necessary times. Being Mexican-American, means that I am able to speak both English and Spanish languages. This is something that is a good to have with you, to be able to read and write the Spanish language fluently. English is also a language that I can read a write because I was born here and grow up with people talking that language all around me. If there were someone that didn’t understand the English language or the Spanish language, I would be able to translate for him or her so that they can understand.
¿Comprende lo que esto significa? If your answer to, “Do you understand what this means?” is “no,” then your résumé, similar to many other non-Spanish speaking Americans just became less competitive. In time of economic hardships where the United States has “an unemployment rate above 7.8 percent,” the ability to distinguish oneself in the job market is a non-negotiable (Scherer). With an exponential increase in the Latino populace, the American workforce has been impacted profoundly. While one may feel certain that the ability to speak English in America, in conjunction with one’s education and work experience, will suffice in distinguishing oneself in the job market, this essay will argue that an English speaking monoglot is far less marketable than one who is bilingual in English and in Spanish.
In Miami educators view it differently than they do in California. They look at bilingual education as a business opportunity for students. Miami’s trades with Latin America amount to billions of dollars a year. Top business leaders say that Miami can not afford to do with out bilingual education. James F. Partridge, chief of Latin American and Caribbean operations for Visa International said, “I don’t give a hoot about the political aspects of it. To me, that’s a lot of garbage. I am interested in the financial well being of this community. We need bilingual people to survive.” Partridge is so concerned about the issue that his office gives remedial lessons in Spanish and Portuguese to dozens of employees whose weak bilingual skills don’t allow them to communicate with clients in those languages.
“Never underestimate your own strength. You were born for a purpose and are blessed with the power to achieve it” (Leon Brown). I have this quote printed out and on the wall next to my door so I can see it every day as a reminder to myself. I believe that we all have a purpose on this earth and that everything we go through on the journey there has a reason whether to teach a lesson or set an example. We have places where we want to end up and goals we want to achieve. We set these goals and dreams to help us fulfill the purpose we see for ourselves. I believe my purpose is to help people in their times of need. To fulfill my purpose, I will need to use my personal, academic and career goals to create a pathway to get to where I want to be

Espanol es Bueno! Imagine being able to work at your dream job just because of a clean record and being able to speak a foreign language. About 17 million people in this country are hispanic and speak no English, so being able to speak their language is a tremendous asset and necessity so we can interact with them. Most jobs require someone who can speak Spanish because of the increasing population of Hispanics.
Use your superb communication skills to convey a smiling, tenacious, confident and highly professional personality when interacting with clients, travel agents and partner through emails and phones.
Working with the Monument Crisis Center as my community partner, I noticed that most of the people who work there speak Spanish. Working there for the past three months, I have also noticed that most of their clients are Hispanic. They usually cannot speak much English, and so the workers who speak help them out whenever they come to the Monument Crisis Center (MCC). I actually had the chance to do phone calls for MCC and had the chance to use my Spanish-speakin...
All your life growing up, you don 't have to make any big decisions. This all changes senior year when you have to make a decision about what you are going to do with your life after high school. Decisions are hard to make but essential to keep moving forward.
Furthermore, a public relations career is much more closely grouped with media relations these days than journalism. In the book, Making it in Public Relations: An Insider’s Guide, it is said that Media relations is the most dominant function of public relations. Its basic role is the origination of press information and the handling of requests from the media about a specialist’s subjects and activities. After all, the main goal of specialists is to present a positive public image of their client to the public (Mogel). The possible types of clients and fields vary wildly from each other. Some specialists can work in public relations consulting firms and hold campaigns for many clients. Other specialists can work in the advertising departments of major brands and w...
The language barrier, which is also a difficult hurdle to encompass, serves as one of the most obvious cultural differences. A manager can delegate a task to be accomplished within a US based division and reap the expected results immediately. On the other hand, if an international manager is not familiar with the English language or culture, the same task may yield a different result. Language is the transmitter of both information and ideas. "The key to global competency is to develop the skills to cope, and that means integrating into the dominant culture and realizing how to properly interpret and analyze behavior" (Hayes, 1996). Being bilingual increases the advantage that foreign business partners have in interacting together. It nullifies the need of a third party translator. Business partners tend to be more open and receiving when communicating with bilingual personnel who speak there native language. "An understanding of the language allows the manager to pick up particular points of view, implied meanings, and other information that is not literal" (Moreno, 2006).
I know that it is important to a student’s success in the classroom to be able to speak English. I worked in a school for eight years in which the Spanish speaking population was eighteen percent. I’ve had students in my English classroom who spoke very little English and I saw first-hand how difficult it was for them. Because of my supportive personality, I know that I will advocate for bilingual staff and for financial support for these
I have worked on class projects as a team leader and our team has always excelled the project. I was involved in organizing various events around campus while I was a member of the Student Governance Board in my freshman year at my previous university. I am a member of Phi-Theta Kappa Society. I have organized leadership and personal development workshops for the various chapters of the society. I have also been actively involved in volunteering opportunities like math tutoring for kids, and waste recycling. I am interested towards working in a team rather than working by myself. I have always been able to deal with different kinds of people with ease and respect. This characteristic has always resulted in the maximum efficiency while working in a team. This proves that I am a strong
The achievement of any affiliation relies on the ability to communicate with others. Communication is essential in all relationships as it allows anyone to share their concerns, interests, and support of one another. Effective communication is the way of listening and how words are pronounced, and how we respond to body language. All too often the indicators we send are not those we intend to send, and when this happens, both the trust and connection vanish in our relationships. When two people converse in a conversation they can say many things without speaking, the tone of voice, our posture, and the expression on our face all display a message. In the three interviews I have conducted and analyzed; I realized how crucial communication strengths
Public relations is everywhere today. It is a practice that has become an important aspect of any business venture. Whether an organization is not for profit, for profit, or governmental, they still need and desire to communicate their purpose within the community and public relations allows this to happen. There are several publics in which the PR practitioner must correspond with and each requires a different means of communication. Internal publics are inside the organizations such as clerks, managers, and stockholders. "External publics are those not directly connected to the organization: the press, government, educators, customers, suppliers, and the community" (Seitel, 2004). Each public plays a key role in the PR of the organization. The many functions of PR can also be categorized based on what purpose they serve the organization.
