“Sunlight plays a much larger role in our sustenance than we may expect all the food we eat and all the fossil fuel we use is a product of photosynthesis, which is the process that converts energy in sunlight to chemical forms of energy that can be used by biological systems” (Vermaas). This quote shows that photosynthesis is the most essential part of the exchange between humans and plants because it produces all the resources we need. When we sit down to eat fruit or vegetables, we usually don’t think about where those come from, how those grow up. Or we might know plants rely on water and light to grow up, and they are able to process photosynthesis. Photosynthesis seems like familiar to everybody, but its function isn’t understood by everyone. In order for us to understand the process of photosynthesis, we need to learn what procedures the plants do during photosynthesis in process.
In order for us to understand how photosynthesis works, we must know about the absorption of basic requirements. First of all, plants’ leaves absorb light and carbon dioxide in the meantime. In the words of a researcher, “The initial step in photosynthesis is the absorption of light by chlorophylls attached to proteins in the thylakoid membranes. Like cytochromes, chlorophylls consist of a porphyrin ring attached to a long hydrocarbon side chain” (Lodish, Berk, and Zipursky). The main function of them is to absorb energy and transfer it to the reaction center for further photosynthesis reactions. Chlorophylls are what make plants look green because there are some pigments which reflect green light inside. They include accessory pigments that are able to absorb light but not green light. Chlorophyll a is able to absorb light in violet-blue region...

...ificant in order to realize how plants help our earth keep spinning. Green plants are the lung of mother earth .Photosynthesis is the only way that continues plants life, and plant is the only way that continues humans’ lives. Human need to breathe, we need oxygen in the air to keep our hearts beating. Plant is the only creature responsible for providing oxygen, which is needed by every creature in the world to breathe. Plants produce oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide for our lives every day through photosynthesis. As carbon dioxide content reducing, it resists the pace of climate change being to fast. They play an important role as food in the world; we need fruit and vegetables to maintain our lives. That’s why we must understand how photosynthesis works. As we understand how important photosynthesis is, we know the significance of protecting plants from destroying.
Photosynthetic pigments work by absorbing different wavelengths of light and reflecting others. These pigments are divided into two categories primary (chlorophyll) and accessory (carotenoids) pigments. Chlorophyll is then divided into three forms a, b, and c (Campbell, 1996). Chlorophyll a is the primary pigment used during photosynthesis (Campbell, 1996). This pigment is the only one that can directly participate in light reactions (Campbell, 1996). Chlorophyll a absorbs the wavelengths of 600 to 700nm (red and orange) along with 400 to 500nm (blue and violet) and reflects green wavelengths (Lewis, 2004). Chlorophyll b has only a slight difference in its structure that causes it to have a different absorption spectra (Campbell, 2004). The carotenoid involved with spinach leaf photosynthesis absorbs the wavelengths of 460 to 550nm (Lewis, 2004). The pigments are carotene and its oxidized derivative xanthophylls (Nishio, 2000). A wavelength is determined by measuring from the crest of one wave to the crest of the next wave. All the wavelengths possible are...
Plants can absorb and use light energy because they have a green pigment, chlorophyll, contained in the chloroplasts in some of their cells. Chlorophyll allows the energy in sunlight to drive chemical reactions. Chloroplasts act as a energy transducers, converting light energy into chemical energy. So as the plant has more light the chlorophyll inside the chloroplasts can react faster absorbing in more light for food and energy.
We depend on plants to obtain our oxygen. Plants produce glucose that assists in its living and growing and we contribute by releasing carbon dioxide. In order for us to live, we need the oxygen that plants produce by making glucose.
Photosynthesis is the process where plants transform light energy usually from sunlight into chemical energy and its balanced equation is 6CO2 + 6H2O –light energy----> C6H12O6 + 6O2 (Elsevier B.V.,LiveScience). Photosynthesis has major byproducts including water, glucose and starch(which is produced in the plant), and last but not least; oxygen. There are numerous amounts of plants all around the world producing CO2 necessary for human survival. However, the photosynthesis cycle is not visible which results in the plants appearing like they are not doing anything. One way to clearly prove that plants are indeed performing photosynthesis is to observe the plants giving off oxygen; which is one of the most important results of
So, after learning about what photosynthesis is and how it truly works is something that is remarkable and how plants are really the only living thing that uses this process. Such as photosynthesis is the process of taking in carbon dioxide (CO2), which is a gas that is exhaled from animals and goes into the air and is absorbed into a plant, water (H2O) which is absorbed through the roots of a plant or known as capillary action, sun light is absorbed through chloroplasts which contains chlorophyll or better known as the leaves of the plant. Sun light is what helps break down and rearranges the atoms of these two, which produces sugars (glucose, C6H12O6), and this is photosynthesis at its finest. With the photosynthesis process the plant can create a by-product known as oxygen gas which is released through the little pores into the atmosphere (Simon, Dickey, Hogan & Reece, n.d.). Photosynthesis is something that helps the plants to grow but it is also very beneficial to us for the fact that we need to breath oxygen to maintain our functions of life. Plants produce an abundant supply of energy that is stored because they are what I would like to call savers/hoarders. Plants store the extra energy that they produce into different things such as potatoes, carrots, and other different types of food in which we use to

During photosynthesis, carbon from atmospheric carbon dioxide is transformed into components which are necessary for plants to live and grow.
Photosynthesis is a highly important process that takes place in plants primarily because without it life on this planet would not be able to function properly. “It produces the oxygen we breathe and the food we eat” (Harbinson). Without photosynthesis, life would not be able to sustain itself and our planet would be a barren wasteland. The Photosynthetic process converts light energy into chemical energy. The energy that’s created through the process then later is used to help fuel the organism’s activities. This process can be significantly more complicated than it sounds with different stages and many steps.
Introduction: Photosynthesis uses the sun’s energy and uses it to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugar. There were two plants that stayed outside in the sunlight and two plants that were inside only receiving sunlight from the window. If the plants stay outside then they will grow at a faster rate and will be the tallest with most leaves because they receive more sunlight from the sun and have a fresher environment. Methods: Both the plants inside and outside were exposed to sunlight and given water every day. Results: The plants inside grew more than the plants inside. The plants outside did not last all of the weeks the experiment was being conducted.
Photosynthesis in simpler turns is the ability of a live plant to carry on its chemical process by the use of light energy. Photosynthesis can not take place when there is absolutely no light, instead it stores the light it captures during the day, and uses it when needed. Photosynthesis can take place in land plants and aquarian plants such as algae. There are many factors that influence the ability of a plant to go through photosynthesis, such as light, the color of light and amount of water and or light.
In some way, shape, or form energy is one of the several reasons why there is an existence of life on earth. Cellular respiration and Photosynthesis form a cycle of that energy and matter to support the daily functions that allow organisms to live. Photosynthesis is often seen to be one of the most important life processes on Earth. Photosynthesis is a process by which plants use the energy of sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose so other organisms can use it as food and energy. It changes light energy into chemical energy and releases oxygen. This way organisms can stay alive and have the energy to function. Chlorophyll is an organelle generally found in plants, it generates oxygen as a result too. As you can see without
Photosynthesis is a process in plants that converts light energy into chemical energy, which is stored in bonds of sugar. The process occurs in the chloroplasts, using chlorophyll. Photosynthesis takes place in green leaves. Glucose is made from the raw materials, carbon dioxide, water, light energy and oxygen is given off as a waste product. In these light-dependent reactions, energy is used to split electrons from suitable substances such as water, producing oxygen. In plants, sugars are produced by a later sequence of light-independent reactions called th...
Photosynthesis is the process in which living cells from plants and other organisms use sunlight to produce nutrients from carbon dioxide and water, the image below “Diagram of photosynthesis 1,” helps show this process. Photosynthesise generally creates oxygen as a by-product through the use of the green pigment, chlorophyll, found in the plant that helps this reaction occur. “Photosynthesis provides us with most of the oxygen we need in order to breathe. We, in turn, exhale the carbon dioxide needed by plants,” (factmonster,2017). This is able to show us why photosynthesis is so greatly needed to occur through plants in order to give one another essentials needed for continuity of life. “Plants perform photosynthesis because it generates the food and energy they need for growth and cellular respiration,” (photosynthesieeducation, 2016).
Humans depend on plants in numerous ways. One reason we depend on plants is for consumption. Plants have the unique ability of producing their own food through a process called photosynthesis. In this process, plants are able to produce macromolecules such as carbohydrates that cannot be produced in animals or humans. In humans, the only to gain these macromolecules is to consume plant matter, or consume plant-eating animals (herbivores).
We as a society should take care of our environment. We can recycle more, stop using harmful gases to produce the luxury that we take for granted, shelter the trees, get rid of cigarettes, use solar energy to power our houses, and clean up the garbage on the streets. Going green is the right thing to do, because it not only makes our environment look healthy, but helps us as a human race survive and live longer. Without photosynthesis there is no earth, we have take care of our environment not because it is the right thing to do, but just as we depend on photosynthesis for life, photosynthesis depend on us to survive!
