“Sunlight plays a much larger role in our sustenance than we may expect all the food we eat and all the fossil fuel we use is a product of photosynthesis, which is the process that converts energy in sunlight to chemical forms of energy that can be used by biological systems” (Vermaas). This quote shows that photosynthesis is the most essential part of the exchange between humans and plants because it produces all the resources we need. When we sit down to eat fruit or vegetables, we usually don’t think about where those come from, how those grow up. Or we might know plants rely on water and light to grow up, and they are able to process photosynthesis. Photosynthesis seems like familiar to everybody, but its function isn’t understood by everyone. In order for us to understand the process of photosynthesis, we need to learn what procedures the plants do during photosynthesis in process.
In order for us to understand how photosynthesis works, we must know about the absorption of basic requirements. First of all, plants’ leaves absorb light and carbon dioxide in the meantime. In the words of a researcher, “The initial step in photosynthesis is the absorption of light by chlorophylls attached to proteins in the thylakoid membranes. Like cytochromes, chlorophylls consist of a porphyrin ring attached to a long hydrocarbon side chain” (Lodish, Berk, and Zipursky). The main function of them is to absorb energy and transfer it to the reaction center for further photosynthesis reactions. Chlorophylls are what make plants look green because there are some pigments which reflect green light inside. They include accessory pigments that are able to absorb light but not green light. Chlorophyll a is able to absorb light in violet-blue region...

...ificant in order to realize how plants help our earth keep spinning. Green plants are the lung of mother earth .Photosynthesis is the only way that continues plants life, and plant is the only way that continues humans’ lives. Human need to breathe, we need oxygen in the air to keep our hearts beating. Plant is the only creature responsible for providing oxygen, which is needed by every creature in the world to breathe. Plants produce oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide for our lives every day through photosynthesis. As carbon dioxide content reducing, it resists the pace of climate change being to fast. They play an important role as food in the world; we need fruit and vegetables to maintain our lives. That’s why we must understand how photosynthesis works. As we understand how important photosynthesis is, we know the significance of protecting plants from destroying.

The Process of Photosynthesis Essay examples - The Process of Photosynthesis Missing Images Plants are one of the many wonders of the world. They are considered autotrophs; they do not rely on outside sources for their food. They create their own food by the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is when green plants and certain other organisms use light energy to change carbon dioxide and water into the glucose. In so doing, photosynthesis provides the basic energy source for almost all organisms. An extremely important byproduct of photosynthesis is oxygen, on which most organisms depend....   [tags: Papers] 2250 words

Process of Photosynthesis Essay - Photosynthesis is the process by which organisms that contain the pigment chlorophyll convert light energy into chemical energy which can be stored in the molecular bonds of organic molecules. Photosynthesis powers almost all trophic chains and food webs on the Earth. The net process of photosynthesis is described by the following equation: 6CO2 + 6H2O + Light Energy = C6H12O6 + 6O2 This equation simply means that carbon dioxide from the air and water combine in the presence of sunlight to form sugars, oxygen is released as a by-product of this reaction....   [tags: essays research papers] 1366 words

The Importance of Light During the Photosynthesis Process Essay - Photosynthesis is a chemical process by which green plants use the radiant energy to synthesize certain nutrients using water and carbon dioxide. This process to happen efficiently it requires the presence of light, water carbon dioxide, chlorophyll and enzymes. During the process of photosynthesis, carbon dioxide plus water in the presence of sunlight, enzymes and chlorophyll produce glucose and oxygen as waste product. The radiant energy is broken down the water into hydrogen atom and oxygen atoms, these atoms combine with carbon dioxide to make glucose and oxygen....   [tags: green plants, chlorophyll, radiant energy]

The Water Treatment Process Essay - ... Sodium expulsion is ATP dependent and halts when the ATP stores of the bacterium are depleted.L6 Halting the production of ATP can be accomplished in multiple ways, but one of the easiest to control and economically efficient would be to remove light wavelengths required for ATP production.L6 Once ATP reserves are depleted, active sodium export is stopped and following a natural chemical gradient, a sodium influx will occur. To further the effectiveness of the desalination process, the electrochemical gradient must be maintained to allow continued influx of sodium after it has reached concentration equilibrium with the surroundings....   [tags: cyanobacteria use photosynthesis ] 828 words

Essay on The Importance of Photosynthesis and What It Does for Life - The Importance of Photosynthesis and What it Does for Life Life according to scientists is “the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death, also the way of life of a human being or animal.”("Life,”) In order for one to have life, one must have the nine characteristics to be considered a living thing. These nine characteristics are; all living things are made up of cells, living things are able to reproduce, living thing use energy, maintain homeostasis, respond and adapt to the environment, grow and develop, have a life span, evolve over time, and are inter...   [tags: plants using light to process foods] 1557 words

Light and Photosynthesis Essay - For my one research task project I have decided to see if light is necessary for photosynthesis to take place in green plants. I choose this topic because I wanted to see if light necessary for photosynthesis is really. It is also a very interesting topic because most living things need light to function, survive and grow. Photosynthesis is the physic-chemical process by which green plants use light energy to photosynthesis. When Photosynthesis occurs it takes in the co2 from the atmosphere and releases oxygen as a bi product....   [tags: chemical energy, green plants]

Essay about photosynthesis - Photosynthesis Investigation to find effects of distance of a light source from pond weed has on the amount of oxygen produced Photosynthesis All green plants need to be able to make their own food. They do this by a process called photosynthesis. For photosynthesis to occur they need sunlight energy. This energy is absorbed by a green pigment called chlorophyll, which is mainly found in the leaves. This energy then combinEs with water molecules (from the soil) and carbon dioxide (from the air). Then as a result of this,a type of sugar is produced .This is called glucose. Also oxygen is made....   [tags: essays research papers] 878 words
