3.) What mood exists within the novel and why?
3.) sThe mood that exists in the book Monster by Walter Dean Myers is a depressing one. You are sharing emotions with Steve as he goes through a grueling court procedure. Thinking about all this, how bad it is to be in jail, the murder of an innocent man makes you feel depressed. I think Walter Dean Myers wanted to incorporate that mood for his readers into the story and thoroughly succeeded.

This conflict is external (character vs. character) and Steve (protagonist) is fighting against those who are accusing him (Bobo, The State, Petrocelli etc.) they are the antagonists. “...It was me who wasn’t sure, it was me who lay on the cot wondering if I was fooling myself”- PG.148 STEVE. Another major conflict is Steve is struggling to find out who he really is , what did he do, what is real and what is a lie he made to comfort himself? 11. Describe 2 falling actions and how they lead to a resolution. Remember that these should link the climax to the resolution.
11. Two falling actions were:
A) Steve’s Dad Leaves- After the trial Steve's dad moves away. He doesn’t say so directly but, he felt as if he didn’t know his own son anymore, so he left. This event links the climax to the resolution because it shows how after the trial he becomes a better person
B) 5 Months Later- 5 months later Bobo is still in jail and Osvaldo steals a car. Steve continues making videos of himself to find out his true identity. This event shows Steve is staying out of trouble and links the climax to the resolution.
