Throughout the Hebrew Bible, there appears to be a very perplexing imagery of Yahweh, God. The depiction of this divine figure provides a certain evocative glow. However, questions still remain. By exploring such readings as those from the Books of Genesis, Isaiah, Hosea, Jeremiah, Ezekial and Esther, the character and nature of the divine can be illuminated.

The character of God is a bit complex; he resembles both good and bad characteristics. One really particular characteristic of God that is portrayed in the Hebrew Bible is the role of the Creator. In the Book of Genesis, we get the story of how the Earth was made.

The Book of Genesis tells two big creation stories: creation of Earth and of man. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over …show more content…

The language from the above mentioned passages entails God as the supremely mythical/divine power that can be seen throughout the Bible.

However, there is something more. In the description of how man and woman were created, humanity was/is placed entirely in God’s hands. Man and womn were created in GOD’s image; man allowed to preside over all living things on Earth because GOD enables us to do so; man is created directly out of GOD’s actions, and the life of man—while God creates woman—rests completely in GOD’s hands. The above capitalization of God is meant to indicate how God makes us well aware of how he has complete control over everything and everyone.

Throughout all of our readings from the Hebrew Bible, the Book of Genesis provides a very key feature into understanding God, or Yahweh. One of the best representation of the role of Yahweh is expressed through his designation as the Creator. As described, the stories of the creation of Earth and of man indicate the looming presence of God as almighty and with the capability to control over all
