Vineland, New Jersey, though I have not lived here that long, I have come to realize that it has a few special things about it. In my essay I hit on points about my neighborhood, the local area, and the regional terrain as well as the landscape. How strong urbanism plays a role in Vineland. If the area I reside in, is formal or functional region or if it is a combination of both. Then, if the boundaries of Vineland are sharply defined or board zones of transition. Also the effects that Hurricane Sandy had on New Jersey and the surrounding states. The neighborhood I live in is small and has two small farms nearby. By the looks of it they only grow greenery. For example, if you were to leave Vineland and go to Deptford you would stop seeing as many farms and more social gathering points. Since moving here (from Pennsylvania), I have been told that I have an accent, but if you ask me I do not have an accent and everyone around me has a New Jersey accent. Although, I have spoken about farms previously it is another key aspect of what makes Vinland the formal region that it is. The areas that surround Vineland does not have as much farmland as Vineland does. The boundaries of Vineland are broad zones of transition. There are no masses of water that divide Vineland from the surrounding cities and/or towns. Nor are there any masses of land and/or mountains that separates it from any of the areas around Vineland. A lot of homes, businesses, and other places were destroyed. Atlantic city homes were flooded. Many people, not just in New Jersey, had no power for days to weeks. The storms surge made it all the way past the board walk. Hoboken, New Jersey was hit hard. Their homes, businesses, and transportation ways and means were destroyed. Winds there were counter-clockwise making it worse for Hoboken. A lot of New York was hit too. They also had no power for long periods of time. Many of their homes and etc. were destroyed during the storm. The major geographic and map characteristics of my neighborhood, the local area, and the regional terrain as well as the landscape, are all reason why Vineland is different from the surrounding areas. How strong urbanism plays a role in the development of Vineland and Cumberland County. As well as how, I believe, Vineland is a formal region. How the boundaries of the region appear in broad zones of transition instead of sharply defined zones. Also the impact of Hurricane Sandy to the state of New Jersey and the rest of the Northeast United
